Bill Walton and sons play basketball at home 1994
January 12, 1994 For almost twenty years Bill Walton did it all on the basketball court. From his great college days at UCLA to his championship years in the NBA. But it appears Walton has scored a few slam dunks off the court as well--namely his four sons. News 8's Hank Bauer with photojournalist Charlie Landon, has more on the Walton family's starting five--Adam, Luke, Nathan, and Christopher.

Bill Walton is the absolute man. If he was born 30 years later, he would have had a massive career in the NBA and would be destroying it right now in the PODcast space. He had game and personality. Very lucrative combination.

Today surgeons could have probably corrected his congenital deformed feet which were the cause of his constant foot fractures. Back in those days they didn't really know how to correct the foot problems he had other than fuse the bones.

I think Walton would have had success in any time period but i think him growing up in the sixties and becoming a star in the 70s was the best perfect fit for him and his personality. Despite the injuries he still had a pretty impressive career in college and the nba.

It's crazy to think that such a charismatic guy was intensely shy and soft-spoken at one point. He worked hard to develop that part of his "game," too, so to speak.
What a childhood these boys must’ve had
Met Bill way back, I'm 75 so must have met him when he was 17, 18. Had the biggest bycicle I've ever seen, nice guy, Wasn't too much into sports, just a big guy I'd see at the smoothy stand on coast hwy between Carona del Mar and Laguna Beach. Old camper behind were people hung out. See ya soon Bill

Bill Walton. One of a kind. Special individual. Rest In Peace.
Watching him being a dad is the best video of all.
Great to see Bill moving fairly well here. I know he didn’t have nearly as many pain free days as we all wished for him RIP legend.

This made my day. Unfortunately, I had to watch it when I realized that bill passed away today. What a great group of guys. I know his boys will continue to make him proud. Rest in peace Bill. You were amazing beyond recognition. We love you❤
I had the biggest smile while watching this.
I used to run ball with Bill's oldest son Adam in the early 2000s. A very polite and humble young man with a soft shot, even at deep range. He usually took it easy on us. I also used to see Bill in the stands at Grateful Dead shows or riding his bike around the parking lot. RIP Bill. "Listen to the river sing sweet songs To rock your soul."

Absolutely loved this video Bill playing ball with his sons!
90s culture was so wholesome. Glad I grew up in that time
Man what a legend Rest easy Big Bill
He must have been a great Dad too. RIP Bill Walton. 😢
A great person, basketball player, and personality. Deeply deeply missed. RIP Bill
Love it! RIP Bill♥♥
Crazy to see how Luke is the smoothest, most coordinated, and coolest out of the group and what do you know he is the one that made it all the way, crazy how genetics work
My condolences to his family and friends.
Saw Bill and his two sons watching pick up games in the mid-80s in Manhattan Beach, CA at Marine Ave Park (if memory serves). Just watching, not playing. He was pointing things out to his sona that players were doing. Also saw Howie long, Danny Schayes and Dave Wohl play there. Played against Schayes and Long in full court pick up games. Bill was in instruction mode with his sons, then much younger than in this video. A great dad.
RIP, forever loved and missed in Boston. You were much more than a basketball player.
Love his fist pump at the end. RIP big guy.
Lollll, thats cool, family fun with basketballl, a father & his boys enjoying some laughs & a lil trash talking....wonderful memories.
Dam he was still taking it to those youngins
Nice to see father and sons together...
Great footage and story by Hank. Still can’t believe Bill is gone…RIP
Looks to me like a proud dad and a very entertaining guy. He will be missed.
Great video and rest in peace 🙏 🪦 Bill Walton
RIP Bill. Pain free at last.
I had no idea Bill was still capable of moving like this by 1994, I was under the impression he was completely incapable of playing after the NBA due to his feet. This is awesome to see. Hard to believe I'm almost already the age he is here. I was about 100 days old when Bill played his final NBA game with the Celtics. Life goes quick.
This is priceless, Bill Walton was a super person. 🙏
Great clip. Thanks and RIP Big Red.
