It is so funny to see people who are so used to Keanu playing an action star and then watching this. We were the other way around wondering how the goofy guy was going to do action movies.

100%! My dad never gave him a chance in action movies because I watched Bill & Ted constantly growing up and he always thought of Keanu like Spicoli from Fast Times as his real persona. Recently he watched John Wick and read up about Keanu's charity endeavours, admitted he was wrong about him XD funny how a single movie can pigeon hole an actor so much.

The funniest part of this movie in my mind is that Rufus says the last line of "they get better" in terms of their music yet it shows all through out the movie that they actually were capable of being very smart after meeting the historical figures. If you look at how they presented them during their report they learned at least some things about them. They learned Socrates name and how he was a philosopher. They learned about how Sigmond Freud had an amazing affect on the advancement of psychology. They learned how Billy the Kid was an amazing gun slinger hence his use of his marksmanship shooting the light. The way they learned how Ghengas Kahn was a violent conquerer from China. And so on and so on. Which shows they were really capable of learning all along. They just needed to do it in their own unique way. Which some people need and I can relate to. So I honestly believe they could get better at playing music in the future too. Dont ever let yourself be held back by doubt. It has been the bane of my existance and I still struggle with it at times. Yet when I push through things typically go well. P.s: rock on dk dudes this reaction was like totally bananas.

This is not only a surprisingly heartfelt and enjoyable film, it holds up _extremely_ well to repeated watches. There are so many subtle gags throughout that everyone misses on the first viewing (i.e., Sigmund Freud's corndog drooping as he notes the mall girls' "mild form of hysteria"). San Dimas is a real city in California, within the greater Los Angeles area, and really does have a huge water park (although it's not called Waterloo). I just happened to drive through on my way somewhere else once & totally fanboi'd at it. 😂 I am also completely incapable of seeing a Circle K without noting out loud that "strange things are afoot". Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is also well worth the watch, at which point you might as well finish up the trilogy with 2020's Bill & Ted Face The Music. And yes, the soundtracks were all incredible! Be excellent to each other, and party on dudes! 🤘

This film runs neck-and-neck with The Princess Bride for Most Charming Film Ever. It's sweet and innocent and that's why it's so loved. Also, Ted is pretty much the embodiment of Keanu's first ten years as an actor. _This_ was what everyone thought of when they thought of Keanu. Check out some of his early films and you'll see a completely different guy from what you expect. "Coltish" is the best term I can come up with describe him - he had that kind of loose-limbed, clumsy, sweet aura. That's how I first thought of him, and I miss that guy. He was so much fun. ETA: The park's name is WaterLoops, by the way. :D

The musician cameos are fun. Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go's plays Joan of Arc. The three future people standing on the throne were credited as The Three Most Important People in the World. They are Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band, Martha Davis of The Motels, and Fee Waybill of The Tubes. Those of us hooked on MTV at the time immediately recognized all of them. Ironically, none of them are featured on the soundtrack, which is, as you observed, really great.

This movie is quiet genius. There were so many teen bonehead comedies that attempted to replicate this formula that Bill & Ted are almost lost in the deluge of their sub par imitators. This movie is smarter than it seems, charming, and delightfully funny. It is not too crude and Bill and Ted have such a joyous innocence and kindness you can't help but love them and root for them. This is the best movie of the series but there is plenty to love in the sequels. There was even a short lived Saturday morning cartoon back in the day.

A few years ago, I participated in an informal table read of the _Bill & Ted_ script (I was Billy the Kid). It was tremendous fun. The person reading So-Crates, especially, had us in stitches by enthusiastically exclaiming random Greek words any time they had a line.

The air guitar flourishes were done by none other than Steve Vai. The tasty guitar in the mall scene was Nuno Bettencourt with the band Extreme. The song is "Play With Me". Nuno is a killer and tasty guitarist! This is one of my most excellent top movies. Party, on dudes!

I’m so delighted you guys loved this. The Bill and Ted films are a cornerstone of my Xennial childhood. We quoted both movies so much growing up. I highly recommend you watch the second one, Bogus Journey. It’s a little darker but still hilarious and a good continuation of the storyline. I can take or leave the recent “Face the Music” film. It felt like a money grab playing off the nostalgia of the first two, and I’m sick of that nonsense.

Unfortunately, I know the decade long effort that it took to get the third movie made. The final script was like 1/4th of the original ideas. Financing obstacles/partners forced them to keep cutting their budget and rewriting to get something at all made. And even when they started production a financier bounced and they needed to find an angel investor just to get profuction rolling. The 3rd movie had its own crazy adventure to get made. I was lucky enough to be on set a for a few days. It was a most triumphiant experience. Hanging out with Anthony Carrigan in an excellent android suit, for example, was a unique blast.

Glad you guys loved this one. It's always been one of my guilty pleasures. But to me, the best part was when Lincoln said "Be excellent to each other" to the crowd. What a world we would have if everyone listened to that.

I laugh as hard at this movie today as I did when it first came out. I remember watching it with my dad when it came out on video, and he laughed so hard. It's hard to find a comedy that different generations can enjoy, but this is one. It's clean, corny, and excellent I so enjoy watching you two, always great reactions.

Greatest soundtrack ever. All unknown bands at the time. That jam from the mall chase scene was by Extreme off their first album. When this came out, I was working at an amusement park running a ride in a dome with lights and music. Played this soundtrack from beginning to end. Shark Island, Big Pig, Love On Ice, searched out and found all these bands.

I happen to work at a Circle K now, its awesome to quote "there are strange things afoot at the Circle K" around a mix age group of customers to see who laughs Bogus Journey is one of those rare as good or better club members as a sequel, Bill's actor is Sean Penn's brother btw, Had a great time rewatching with you guys, it was a fun time in the theaters too, this is how most Gen X's met Keanu and we still adore him now🤗 I'd love to see him use the "woah" line in a modern comedy as a call-back❤

The music being played while they're in the mall is called 'Play with Me' by Extreme, guitarist is Nuno Bettencourt and I could be wrong but I heard that it is Nuno 's hands you see playing the guitar at the end for Rufus. Nuno is known for his amazing guitar riffs. Extreme are still going strong today, a truly excellent band!

The most underrated joke in the movie that makes me laugh every time is them doing Star Wars and Bill calls himself "Luke Bill" and not "Bill Skywalker" or something. Love the whole trilogy and love you guys too! DEFINITELY check out Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (my favorite of the three!) and Bill & Ted Face The Music. The most recent one isn't perfect but it's still a very worthwhile years-later trilogy cap!

I was 13 when this came out and so Keanu has always been Bill having weird violent adventures the past few decades. The sequel a few years later was fun but you may now understand how HUGE it was when the 3rd movie came out a few years ago with Bill and Ted now in their 50s. Keanu with his career as it is stepped back into black stallion.

This movie, along with Back to the Future, are by far and away my favorite movies of all time. Gawd how I miss the 80's! We adopted all kinds of phraseology like "totally radical", "awesome", "gnarly", etc... it all came from SoCal surfer/skater/valley culture (we were wearing vividly colored Ocean Pacific (OP), Hobie, Body Glove, all the surfer threads even in the middle of Texas for goodness sake) and it made it's way across the nation.

I have a friend who was stabbed multiple times about 20 years ago. As he sat in his bed at ICU he came across this movie on the tv. He loved Bill and Ted as we all do, and said seeing it in the hospital he experienced a great relief and enjoyment as if the movie was walking him thru the worst of his injuries, and not long afterwards made a full recovery. Without saying it’s medical science, you could say it helped, as well as the gallons of water he drank daily lol✊
