I love Phil and his unique approach to different styles of Backgammon I would vote that we always gain a point off our opponent for dancing on a 1point board 😅

I've never played over the board. But I do see that there's a meetup outside of Hartford CT one Saturday a month. Is it still active?

@@AlexEshaghianBackgammon Thanks. I picked up the game after reading Oliver Roeder's Seven Games. I didn't care for eXtreme Gammon telling me how awful I am so I stick with the AI Factory app. I'm pretty even with its highest level but I suspect that means I am somewhere between intermediate and beginner. Regardless, I learned chess as a kid, but I think that I have a better grasp of BG.

Very much enjoyed the interview - would love to see more position analysis. In the 80s I remember going to a local library, using their microfiche reader, so that I could find all of the weekly Boston Globe Backgammon columns which Bill wrote. Back then I occasionally played at the NEBC on Mondays and Monthlies and it was typical to see any number of chouettes underway. Also various PROPS were being played out, in some sense, those were quite authentic rollouts.

On roll outs back in the day did they start out and rollout till end or just a few rolls and restart.

Probably both but many people played the games out to their conclusions.

when you roll how do you know you've made the right plays? Bill would do but I doubt that I would so the exercise would be a waste of time for me.
