Lesson Format
Lessons are conducted virtually on Zoom. Typically the student plays a match against XG and analyzes it with me immediately afterwards. Alex provides a detailed analysis of appropriate strategies and explain how students can learn these when studying independently. Alternatively, students can bring up specific questions or concerns that we can go through. Alex also provides book recommendations for the students to read between lessons. Lessons can be taken by students at all levels. You can view example lessons here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i32qt9qzftXHaNI.html
Lesson Timing
Lessons are scheduled at a mutually convenient time and can be done as frequently as the student wishes as my time permits.

Thank you sir, putting in the work for us.
Great! Helps a lot. Thx
❤
This is badass
Thank you
Great video - very informative, Alex 👌 I really like when you talk after the match when you both change the score and makes small changes to a given position to see how that affects the decisions 🙏
Thank you
very interesting / cool Alex. Great stuff. keep it going
Thank you
The backgammon strategy group link doesn't open anything for me. 😢
You can try searching "Backgammon Strategy" on Facebook.
@AlexEshaghianBackgammon No results. Maybe the group restricts new accounts? Deleted Facebook like a decade ago and made a new account couple weeks ago specifically for bg groups
I believe you failed to click crawford on the 5/2 opening when trying to show the gammon go play.
Nice catch. Thank you for noticing. At true gammon go splitting is a 12 millipoint error.
Again a valuable Video. Thanks very much
My pleasure
I'll probably catch flack for this, but here goes. I predict the correct opening 4-1 will eventually be 24/20, 6/5. I've been experimenting with this opening for a couple years now, with great success. Yes, it breaks the rule of not leaving bots on both sides of the board. However, this opening fights for the 2 best points on the board. Best case, if your opponent fails to hit either blot, you have a good chance to make BOTH the 5 and 20 points on your next roll, which is close to an early game double. If your opponent rolls a 3/1, he'll certainly point on head but that leaves chances of a return shot making your 5 point, equalizing the position. Ironically, the most devastating return by your opponent is also a 4-1, hitting 2 checkers. My experience has been that in most cases, my opp hits one checker, and I wind up making the unhit slotted checker. I realize this is anecdotal, but it's been working for me
This is called the "wild" play and has been rolled out thousands of times and is a large error. The benefits you mention are more than compensated by the good rolls the opponent has after this play.
@@AlexEshaghianBackgammon It's only an error if it fails. I'm old school and not a huge fan of XG. I don't care about PR, only winning games so I suppose I'll continue in my errant ways, 🤣🤣🤣
@@AlexEshaghianBackgammon I almost forgot, thank you for the video, I need to rewatch it and incorporate it into my play. I may be old school but still willing to learn. I also ordered your backgame strategy book on Amazon! I'm a backgame fanatic which explains my 4-1 stubborness 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you and best of luck. You may be interested in watching this backgame: kzread.infon3d307WcCYE?si=0y-QlUmoE3amjbHo&t=12694
@@AlexEshaghianBackgammon Thank you Alex! Wild backgame that turned into a 21 pt holding game. You may have already seen this one. Here's a perfectly executed backgame by Mochy. Looking forward to reading your book! kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y2afk5Sgp5uepaQ.htmlsi=WrIGDT0IxcXmwE1W
Really cool to see something that everyone has probably once said I just don’t get how to play Have a following like this
Thank you. It's easy to learn.
Hi Alex, Thank you so much for including the game file and the positions analysis. That is a really nice touch that I wish could become standard practice with any BG video upload. Hopefully you start a new trend in the BG culture!
Glad you like it. It was recommender from viewers, to whom I am grateful.
FIRST here. - 20:00 your dice distribution window and best moves didnt show up as you were explaining the outcomes there for some reason. Also Mic volume a little low Alex. Keep it up
I realized the issue of the dice distribution and I will fix it next time. Just ordered a new microphone. Thank you for your feedback.
Respect what you’re doing and I wanted to watch your video but the audio quality is just too poor. Invest in a decent microphone and drive on! Good luck with your channel.
Thank you for your feedback. I had gotten a microphone but I just ordered a better one.
Could you get a better microphone? I can barely hear you.
Thank you for the feedback. I will look for a new microphone or work on amplifying the sound.
Cool. I love the board. UKBGF board. ❤ Silverman & Co sells a similar color combination. Love the red and yellow checkers on this color combination.
Thank you. This is Rain's Hector Saxe board with red and yellow Hector Saxe checkers.
Hi Alex, love your videos, thanks!

What restaurant/club were the pictures taken at?
Denny’s in Sherman Oaks and El Mariachi in Encino:
@@AlexEshaghianBackgammon wish you guys were closer to me. Encino/Sherman Oaks is too far away. I have no club near me with only the Valley and SOUTH SOUTH Orange County clubs available and Im in North OC/San Gabriel Valley area :(
Very cool Alex.Glad u finally did this. I watch bot vs bot alot myself to learn but use a much higher level. What speeds are you using? as I need to snow mine down alot. Keep these up. Thanks
Thank you. The delay is 1,500 msec.

This great DM lyrics perfectly encapsulate 'The cruelest game'.
Agreed
I won a Coup Classique this past week in Michigan. Super fun. Good video as always
Thank you and congratulations.
Great video. Trying to learn some of the different features in XG. Have you made any videos where you go into the Volatility number in the Dice distribution feature?
No but that is a great idea. Thank you.
Challenge yourself to beat ur lowest pr yet in the next 5 point match
I always try.
@@AlexEshaghianBackgammon you'll try harder now
What is the music?
Sweet Dreams by The Eurythmics. Do you like it?
@@AlexEshaghianBackgammon yes, it's cool!
Hey Alex, I like this concept of having non-pro players on the show. Their thought processes are much more similar to us intermediate players 👍
Thank you. Everyone is welcome and that is exactly the purpose.
Rough first 3 games.
That's backgammon
I've never played over the board. But I do see that there's a meetup outside of Hartford CT one Saturday a month. Is it still active?
Not sure
@@AlexEshaghianBackgammon Thanks. I picked up the game after reading Oliver Roeder's Seven Games. I didn't care for eXtreme Gammon telling me how awful I am so I stick with the AI Factory app. I'm pretty even with its highest level but I suspect that means I am somewhere between intermediate and beginner. Regardless, I learned chess as a kid, but I think that I have a better grasp of BG.
Have fun!
Looks like fun 🎉
Very fun
Alex, I love your channel and all the helpful learning content, but you REALLY need to upgrade the audio quality on your end. Either get a decent microphone or set up in a closet with a lot of clothes or a room with echo absorbing panels. Sometimes I can’t take the poor quality and switch off so my ears don’t start to bleed. Thanks for your efforts and keep building your channel!
Thank you for your suggestion. Always trying to improve. I got a new microphone for better audio quality. You may not notice it for a little while because the videos are pre-recorded.
Need to show scores
Good idea
Muy entretenido,yo solo puedo jugar online, porque presencial no conozco a nadie y eso que tengo 6 tableros
Gracias
thx for streaming. The play I was hoping to see 3/1 was at about 2:04:05 a 2,1 played bar/24* 9/7. Playing on stream against a backgame book author, bar/24* 3/1 seemed indicated. gnubg doesn't quite agree with me, but what if the next roll is say a 6,3 or 3,3, don't you want them entering? I would... And it's more fun... the looks really cool factor.
At this point you may not want to give the opponent the opportunity to upgrade to the 3-4 structure. Black really needs to activate the spares on the 23 and 3/1 allows him to do that with ones and twos.
Congrats Alex. The amount of time you put into all your content is truly awesome and reflects your love for the game. You are very much appreciated! Here's to many more years! 🎉
Thank you very much.
Happy anniversary, and thanks for all the content. For the future, I think in general with streamers I like to watch them doing what they enjoy. If you enjoy meeting and interviewing backgammon players then do more of that, if you enjoy playing the bot or other great players do more of that. Seeing what gets the most views is one thing, but you also have to enjoy it. Best of luck.
Thank you. I enjoy it all.
Checkers are better ngl
Thank you
Looks like a fun time. I miss playing in a club setting.
Please join us if you're in town. Or look for a club on the USBGF website.
Great question about his secret of playing the second best play first 👍🏼
“That’s a lot of work” 😂👍🏼
Glad you liked it!
