    The real problem isn't teens smoking pot which they are doing right now anyway. It's the number of arrests, convictions, and arrest records that harm people's futures over a damn weed which are the problem.

    stormweaver82 It's hilarious.... and not so hilarious. going 15 in a 65 is actually dangerous. It almost runs counter to traffic, force more traffic to jump from lane to lane to get around you and slam on the brakes, which causes a traffic hazard. If you look at a lot of highways, the actually post MINIMUM speeds of at least 40. It's one thing to brake down or have an accident. But it's another to do it on you on power, or lack thereof if high. And of course driving like that on the highway is not only considered reckless driving, but tips the cops off to a DUI... from weed. It will be interesting to see how that all works out in Colorado.

    If social conservatives are really concerned that people have drug issues, the first thing they should do is not give those folks a criminal record. Treat drug use as a medical, not criminal issue.

Also, you clearly missed the point that. Two wrongs dosent make a right. Just because something legal is seen as "worse" to some. Its not a valid reason for legalizing other illegal drugs.

    ***** "Druggy Parent" ? Hardly, how about the kid of alcoholics who has no kids himself. I know plenty of people who had their lives horribly messed up due to parents being drug users. It isn't that I am saying it doesn't happen, but it seems like you can't accept that it doesn't always happen. That parents can use drugs responsibly and still raise kids who are productive, well adjusted members of society. There are plenty of parents who drink or smoke who NEVER let it affect their kids lives. There are people who can use drugs and raise kids responsibly.

    I just gotta point something out that we all know to be true. This would not be a suitable argument in a court of law or anything but as people having a conversation, I think it should be weighed in. Teens and tweens drink alcohol. They did it when it was illegal too. They didn't stop when it was legalized for adults either. Kids smoke weed and they aren't going to stop when it's made legal for adults to consume. Why? Because kids LOVE breaking the rules. Hell, we ALL (for the most part) love to break "the rules" every now and then (especially when it's harmless). NOBODY (not God, not your auntie, not your grandmama, not your second cousin twice removed on your 3rd uncle's side of the family, not ANYBODY) is going to be able to come up with some sort of "system" that will stop kids from breaking the rules. Especially when it comes to smoking weed or drinking alcohol. As a teen, I tried a couple sips of beer from my dad's glass because he allowed me to. I didn't feel like drinking a 6-pack afterward and I think that had something to do with my dad not demonizing the act of me drinking alcohol. I tried a cigarette when I was 13, told my dad and he said, "Okay. Just be careful. They're very addictive and I won't be supporting that habit. Haha" I didn't smoke another cigarette. If society demonizes something like weed (which is considered a nice socializing type of drug like alcohol), kids will want it more than ever. Bottom line, illegal or legal, kids will STILL be smokin' weed. Better that it's legal so we can stop locking people up for forever and a day and spending billions of dollars trying to stop people from smoking it.

    Not really. Bill's right, she was "pettifogging the issue" and avoiding the point Bill was trying to make. Which is right in a way, it will be easier and more socially acceptable for kids to get and smoke pot. Just like alcohol, even though it's illegal and not all parents will buy it for their kids (although many parents do). Kids will still find people to get it for them. Everyone is avoiding the point Bill is trying to make. He's thinking about the kids which should be a main concern on this topic. If a liberal was making the point that Bill was TRYING to make but didn't get the chance to because of her, then all liberals would be on his side and that liberal would seem like a great guy for thinking about the kids and Mary-Katherine Ham would be treated like the jerk conservative who doesn't think about the kids. But it's Bill talking so everyone's gonna ignore the fact that Bill is thinking of the children and call him an idiot even though he's considering the kids over the money we would save for legalizing it.

  • @htsyami

    @htsyami

    10 жыл бұрын

    patrick ganning Anyone that uses the word "pettifogging" is definitely engaging in that behavior themselves because their argument doesn't hold up to rational scrutiny. She made it clear that marijuana legalization is being discussed for "adults" not kids or teens. Alcohol and cigarettes are legal and regulated and both are far more dangerous than marijuana. Bill O'Reilly is an idiot that very rarely ever uses fact-based logic. Instead he spews his bias opinions as if they were facts and tries to shut down other people (that are factually relevant) by calling them "pinheads" or saying that they're "pettifogging" the issue.

    I hate to break it to Bill, but weed is already socially acceptable. Many adults smoke weed, some even on camera on KZread. Making it legal is just taking a useless penalty off of something mostly harmless that everyone is already doing. Why useless? Because everyone is already smoking pot, so obviously it's not helping.

    Legalization is better than our current system of throwing people who have never stolen anything or hurt anyone into a cell with rapists and murderers for 15+ years. That is unconscionable to me. And yes, one can always find anecdotes of people commiting crimes over weed; but, statistically speaking, it's rare. The last I checked, alcohol was the drug that most often associated with violent crime.

    I think what Bill O'Reilly is trying to say is that more children will start to use marijuana when it is legalized because they will be influenced by the increasing number of adults using the drug legally. Although it will remain illegal for minors to purchase, possess, or use marijuana, he believes that more minors will start using because of its use in the rest of society.

    Thats why a lot of children take up smoking because their parent do? Lets give kids some credit they are a lot smarter than we think they are. Worry about yourself first before speaking for "children" you don't know or have anything to do with! It's like saying alcohol is legal, lets all go to work drunk! Not going to happen.

It's about time some one was confident enough to talk to bill like that, and in doing so, was able to further explain herself. Bill O'Reilly is so disrespectful, I'm glad she presented herself the way she did, especially after the way he treated her the last time she was on.

    I understand where Bill is coming from on this issue. His idea is that alcohol is legal and we have an issue with kids getting a hold of alcohol now and in his mind adding pot to the argument just adds one more thing we've gotta fight kids abuse of. The problem is that legal or not the kids are already using, and it isn't really all that relevant to whether or not responsible adults should be allowed to use.

    I love it. O,Reilly sits there,interrupting her time after time,and then has the temerity to say " you clearly don't want to engage in this conversation". Last I looked a conversation was defined as a dialogue between two or more people. Talking to yourself is not a conversation.O'Reillys body language speaks volumes. too. He always has his hands up ,almost like he's being held up. Thats a very clever but transparent ploy.He's saying, "Hey I'm willing to listen to your point of view" and at the same time the hands also are a shield and clear indication that he would never ever ever actually engage in a real conversation unless the muppett he was talking to mirrored his own view. He is a really nasty piece of work in every respect.He really ought to think about going now because he's looking more and more like the pathetic figure he is and guests are no longer intimidated or scared to fight the bully back.
