Bill is a great guy. I met him on a plane flying to Charleston, SC (about 5 years ago) and we talked about me running the marathon the next day and he mentioned he owned a minor league ball team in the area (hence him flying to Newark airport and back to CHS so much). He walked me all the way to my ride at the airport. It was just small talk; I never asked him about any movies or his acting at all. I think that he liked that I was not treating him like some kind of star or celebrity. We just talked like two guys who have to go to the same place and just talked as we walked. We shook hands and parted. Just a regular fun kind of guy.

I used to fly often and met a number of people that are well known, but rarely spoke to them. I just wanted them to feel normal. After all, they are just people like the rest of us. One came to be a regular acquaintance until some crazed star-struck fan made a ridiculous fuss, and I never saw him again.

Love Groundhog Day. Wish they would have spent more than fifteen seconds talking about it. Danny Rubin wrote the screenplay but it was Harold Ramis that turned it into the script we know and the movie we love.

@@PurpleSurple Ramis and Murray did eventually make up in some respect. When Ramis was on his death bed, Murray visited him, with a box of donuts in hand. At that point, the aliment Ramis had left him unable to speak, so they shared only a few words, but they did make up in the end.

I remember having the same thought, but first of all, the image most people have of him is from Caddyshack, Scrooged, Groundhog Day, his movies from 30 years ago--so they see him today and are shocked because he's 30 years old than they expect him to be (he will be 70 this year--2020). Secondly, he is a very wealthy man who seems to be content with his life--he doesn't need to work, he works when he feel like something looks fun to do, and he doesn't get caught up in all the makeup and plastic surgery to impress people with an illusion of youth. I'm sure they gave him a little dusting of makeup so the tv lights wouldn't reflect off his skin, but I mean who wears bib overalls to a television interview, unless he doesn't care what we think?

They seemed to have a great friendship but Bill got way too obsessive about asking Harol about things. As it goes, Harol was fed up with Bill always bugging him on nearly everything. Then one night (really one morning) Bill called Harol up at 3am on another trivial issue and Harol exploded. From then On Harol forced Bill to call a manager for all correspondence. Bill got offended and broke off the the friendship to Harol's great relief. The moral of the story? Set healthy boundaries and make sure everyone knows what they are. Or suffer less friends and more consequences.

Every time I watch it, without fail, I put myself in Phil's (Murray) position and wonder what I would do if I were in the same circumstance. It really touches on the meaning of the important things of life versus the trivial. Really a masterpiece... except I would have liked a longer cut with some of the additional outtakes added for depth.

A shame that Groundhog Day was why Bill Murray and Harold Ramis had a spat that lasted way too long. Bill Murray wanted Groundhog Day to be more funny/comedy, while Harold Ramis wanted it to be more heartfelt/meaningful. Harold Ramis got his way and was right, what a great movie! Bill Murray is the most naturally gifted talent when it comes to comedy. He brought the perfect amount of charm and funny at all the right moments of Groundhog Day.

I met Bill Murray on the street about 35 years ago. I told him how much I love the Ghostbusters. He told me that I could be in the next Ghostbusters with him. Suddenly, I woke up in my bed room. I was 8 then. Best dream I ever had!

If Bill Murray as Phil Conners was waking up to relive the same day over again from the beginning, shouldn’t his memory of any and all recollections of the prior day be erased, and his memory of a new day also start all over again from the beginning? 🤔

One of my friends worked at Edinburgh airport in Scotland for a while in the mid 00’s and one day she casually told me “Oh yeah, I was working the other day and I met an old actor guy. I can’t remember his name. Apparently he was a Ghostbuster? He was flying in to play golf. He was hilarious.” She is no longer my friend.
