Bill Hicks - Drunk

Sane Man was Bill Hicks’ first full-length comedy special, taped in 1989. This is the early years and the foundation of what would become his signature material and point of view. Funny and thought provoking, he attacks corporate America with venom, and almost screams at people to start thinking for themselves.
The full show is part of The Complete Collection:

Bill was a legend. Ahead of his time. Tried to get sober. Even Letterman thought he was too dangerous to put on the air until after his death. Check out his specials. Pure genius. And a great human being also

Maybe his only bit that I liked more than this was "Your Kids Aren't Special", that was all kinds of brilliance (and still is). Bill was without a doubt a once in a lifetime comic. There's been some that were close to his level (Carlin being one) but he was miles ahead of everyone.

I was born in the early 80's so I had cassettes as a kid. On one such cassette tape (specifically FOR kids, mind you; dark pink label, white casing) was a song to teach you how to say your ABC's backwards. To this day, mid 30's, I still remember it. I can only do it if I do it fast and all in one breath, like on the cassette, but now I'm wondering if that just wasn't subversive training to prep me for just such an occasion: getting pulled over while intoxicated. What else did the 80's & 90's teach us kids, all hidden yet out in the open?? Oh yeah, recycling and taking care of the Earth! Go, Captain Planet! Huh. Naw, but it's cool. Even if climate change isn't real it's not like recycling and stewardship over the Earth is beneficial to EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING ON THE PLANET. Well. That escalated quickly.

I can't even say the alfabet backwards while sober! But I was driving a lot while drunk and, .... never had an accident! Fuck, it should be mandatory for some people! Because from studies, ... people drinking three glasses drive better!

My dad actually did die in a car accident. He didn't drink, but, in the case there were pain, I could almost make a case for it being better if people in his situation were intoxicated. Again, just because it's a subject that can hurt to talk about, it's even more reason to try and find the light in it.

I totally agree. No one should ever have to hear the words 'there's been an accident..driver was drunk...your loved one might not make it'. My dad passed on the 23rd of RCC due to Agent Orange, but he spent the remainder of his life from 96 on fighting to make sure officials were held accountable when they failed the public by not upholding the law,and fighting to make laws tougher. If you've ever watched Forrest Gump,Lt.Dan's leg is what was inside my dad's right thigh. Not to mention my brother's closed head injury and ptsd. Please accept my sincerest condolences on the death of you father.I can't imagine what you must be going through.
