Aaliyah was in our city doing promotions for Summerfest Concert in '94 and my dad hired the local station for an hour Radio Broadcast for 96.3 WJIZ at our family business that Friday and to our surprise Aaliyah showed up to sign autographs and promote the Concert. When she found it that it was my Birthday, she sang Happy Birthday to me, during a commercial break. She had a couple managers with her and now that I look back, I realize it's because she was still a minor. Although, there were rumors at the time that she was married to R. Kelly, she was very tomboyish wearing baggy clothes that were in style at the time and hadn't matured into the Sex Symbol she eventually became. I just remember that she had a sweet innocence and pure heart for a young girl just starting her career and just like that her management told us that she was headed off to the Islands to do her first Video Shoot for her first album.
