I've had a few different bikes and ended up on a Scooter because it's just better at everything for city riding. But a few things to consider: Not all scooters are equal. The smaller and cheaper ones can be crap, so don't go for the cheapest one you can find. Something like Piaggio or Honda might cost more but you get more. Personally I'd be looking for something 150c and over. Around 200-300cc seem to be a sweet sport for size and power. While a scooter will never keep up with a sportsbike, a mid-sized scooter is still quicker off the line than most cars which is all you need in the city. Swap out the horn. Scooter horns all seem to be pathetic, and you will need it, so upgrade to one that everyone can hear. Remember, it's always more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slowly 😁

Good to see you posting again...nothing wrong with scooters...I've had mine since 2015 (even though its a 3 wheel mp3 500cc) they're great fun and mine will handle 70mph on motorway all day long ...its all about what suits the individual ..just enjoy

Thanks Colin, I do enjoy the scooter and actually did consider an MP3 myself but it wouldn’t fit around the back of my house so went for the Medley and am very pleased with it.

Had motorcycles for 44 years now and the bones are getting tired, I pick up my new Honda Forza 350 tomorrow, I am still keeping the BMW R1150R for now though for the days I am feeling good, great post, enjoy

I think one gets to the, I'm not going to say age but stage, when you've ridden big bikes and fast bikes and expensive bikes and what you need is just something to get out and about on, enjoy the scenery, etc. and to enjoy it for what it is and what it can do rather than what it isn't and what it can't do. My bike journey has been 2 x Honda XL100s (one got nicked), Honda CB350SG, then a 20 odd year gap then Moto Guzzi V7 (50th birthday present!), Honda ST1100 Pan Euro, Triumph Tiger Sport 1050, BMW K75RT, Suzuki V-Strom 650 and on Saturday I'm picking up an CBR250R which is what brought me to your channel. Another significant difference between scooters and bikes, is that on a bike, you can wear much cooler gear, that you would never get away with on a scooter. If you wish to be kitted out with protective gear (expensive leather jackets aside), it is a toss up between looking like a pretentious "yoof" with delusions of who knows what? Or a lollypop warden. I bought a new jacket the other day for summer use, as the one I have is big, heavy and too warm for the summer weather. I saw a a jacket, within my budget and would look "luv'vly" with my bike. Black with signature splashes of red and the brands name across the chest. It would have looked great with my new helmet. It was a total no-no however, as even I was accusing myself of trying to match my "handbag and stilettos". Needless to say, I walked out of the bike dealership with another plain black jacket, although it is more snug and has panels made out of "teabags" for ventilation. It is a nice jacket, but my heart still yearns for its fancier sibling.
