Gotta disagree here. They ran code 3 in us terms lights n sirens but nobody was pulling over or making room in the tunnel. Even if the biker just got them a few extra inches to squeeze rhrough that means a few minutes less critical care for the injured.

That old guy with the drink seemed cool, even if they felt it was snooty to come over, he's looking out for other riders.

I know the rider in the second clip wasn't able to, but I feel I should mention anyway, that when you're helping a turtle get off the road, you should try to take it to the side of the road it's facing (the direction it's trying to go) otherwise it'll just amble back out on the road and try to cross again after you leave. If possible, you should also try to grip it by the shell, not the tail (yes even a snapping turtle), because holding them by the tail can cause serious spinal injury. Again, I know this rider wasn't able to safely do that in this situation, and you can tell he's being as gentle and careful as he can. I'm not criticizing the rider at all. He did a kind, selfless, beautiful thing that restores my faith in humanity. This is more just a sort of PSA for other people that might find themselves in a position to help a turtle like this, that under other circumstances you'd ideally want to hold it by the shell and take it to the other side of the road, but this is a special situation where the person couldn't safely follow those guidelines. To clarify, there WAS no other side of the road here, just a wall, so yeah, that rule doesn't even apply here. And he clearly tried to grab the back of its shell, but his position on the bike, being stuck using one hand, and the turtles reaction to him, made it too awkward to do quickly without getting bitten. So he could either keep trying to do it properly, prolonging the amount of time he was stopped in the middle of the road (which is risky for not just him, but the other riders and any other vehicles that may come along), or just pick it up however he could.

That guy trying to help the ambulance probably just slowed him down more. The ambulance was in the left lane, and dude on the bike was just preventing people form merging out of the left lane to clear room. Also, Michael Jackson came back to life and rides a kawasaki.

In Europe, there are at least 8 countries that use the "Emergency Corridor" system when emergency services are fighting through traffic jams. It's proven to be a very effective way to let them through. Drivers positioned in the left lane pull all the way to the left shoulder, and every one else shift to their right. This creates a good corridor for emergency services, and provides quicker access to the collision site. It's estimated to bring them 4 mins quicker to collision site, and increase the chance of survival by 40%.

I actually took it different... as I had just lost my father who spent his last days in that home... My father was a deer hunter, i grew up on venison.. The accident was a freak, I was lucky and didn't hurt my bike too bad. I apologized to the poor Doe I hit... No tank dents, only scrapes on the bar end and brake levers, and my headlight was shifted with the fairing... I rode the bike the hour and a half I had left on the 4 lane doing 110kph to get home that night ;)

Wow.. Glad i live in germany where this behavior of him wouldve got the respect he earned. Traffic flows low, so the danger isnt that high. He drove carefully and stopped people of changing lanes so there is more space for the ambulance. And where did he was in the way of the ambulance? The spaces between the cars look bigger on camera, and a car wouldn't fit there the gaps. And at least, he 'prepared' the traffic in front of the ambulance for itself. People might check the mirror often when they see a bike filtering throught, because there could come more bikes from the back.

Volcanic-gr1ml0c Turtles can be aquatic, semi-aquatic, or terrestrial. People use "tortoise" for terrestrial turtles. It can be dangerous for a "tortoise" if someone thinks "oh it's a turtle, it needs to be in water" and they move it to water and it drowns.

What did the guy on the bike actually do to "clear the way" for the ambulance? He just filtered between cars that didn't actually move for him, and then drove on an empty lane really slowly, weaving a bit and the other vehicles all moved when they finally heard or saw the ambulance. I used to pick up my Goldwing by myself. Easily done if you know what you are doing.

The turtle clip; for those who see a snapping turtle, or any other kind if turtle, DO NOT EVER lift it by its tail. The tail is conected to the bones and you can cause lots of internal damage by pulling on its tail. You can put your fingers around the sides of the shield, thats how to lift it
