I know this is four months late, however Prius vehicles have huge blind spots, from the interior seating headrest to the four columns and angled windows. Sold ours after a month of owning it, right back to the dealership.
In the UK we are taught to command your lane, if your to th left or right your inviting a car to pull next to you when stopped or moving, when in the command position (middle of the lane) the lane is yours. When you do advanced riding or driving your taught to use the sides of your lane to increase your view around corners and to straight-line roundabouts when your not going to be inconsiderate to other road users BTW I always leave a 2 second gap between me and the car in front but you regularly see cars taking advantage of your braking space.
What it is with Prius drivers is that the visibility from inside is terrible. They have huge pillars and tiny, badly placed glass. It's one of the reasons we decided against buying one last year.

21:00 That's the UK, and yes filtering is legal here. I'd guess the rider was also planning to turn left, though.
He was in a car driven by a driver who did not know it was perfectly legal for her to filter and get in front of him. The guy that got out of the car was just a typical dumb bully. He has a good ass kicking coming for pushing her over. This is prime evidence that; If you are at a light or anywhere you can't easily drive off from an someone gets out of their car with intent to confront you...kick stand down, off the bike before he gets to you. You cannot defend yourself sitting on the bike. She should have taken off a soon as he got completely out of the car and drove to a busy place to stop that likely had cameras. grocery store, bank, almost any store front. Lane filtering is legal in most of Europe AFAIK, *but* it has become legal only relatively recently. Some riders don't know that they are allowed, and many drivers don't know (or don't care). They're stuck in traffic, so they are pissed off at anyone who isn't - cyclists and bikers. You can still get a lot of aggression and stupid actions for lane filtering, so many people don't. There are also additional factors - roads can be narrow and not allow filtering. Also, it's rather uncomfortable to do when drivers stop right at the line (which they should). That means that you have to pass the line to get ahead of them (and have difficulties seeing the lights, which in Europe are on your side of the intersection), or remain between the cars and hope that they've seen you. In some cases the stop lines are painted further back and there are 2-wheeler boxes ahead of them, that's very nice. If you get back into the lane and close to a car, it's advisable to take off very quickly. Some people like to try and race you, so if you don't take off right away, they might come too close or even hit you. Unfortunately, if I ever stall when trying to take off, it's mostly in these situations - stage fright, I believe. So I decide on case-to-case basis. If the person in front is too far, likely to try to race me (particularly if they may actually have a chance), if it's too narrow and so on, I won't filter. But at any rate I will position myself so I can quickly escape among the vehicles if need be.
New rider here, watching these accidents and break downs really help, I’m a visual learner so it’s been really easy for me to apply the things you teach, if someone cuts me off or gets in my line, I try and look at it as my fault because I should have been in a better position/ more aware of my surroundings
22:17 is in the UK or Ireland (driving on the left). We can lane filter, but not in the middle if you are going to turn left in front of the car in the left turn lane.
I'm betting that if this was a six foot male he wouldn't have approached him like that. I know a few brick outhouse sized motorcycle club members who would have entirely ruined his day for that. Nicest fellows in the world, as long as you keep it civil.
I've just begun watching your channel. Thanks for all the education. I rode years ago, getting back to it again so these are great videos for reminder, and things have changed with phones and such. But I'll never speed like these guys. A number of years back my sister and her family were struck from behind by a guy who was riding stupid fast in heavy traffic with some other guys. Borrowed bike, he slammed into the van so hard it totaled the van. He smashed the back window then went over the top, fatal accident. My young nephews were in the van, they're grown now and they still get sick talking about seeing it and being in the middle of it. So, folks, be careful, and don't do stuff to end up like that guy and don't mess up innocent people.

12:05 most bikers here in the UK see no reason to lane filter 1 or 2 cars at a light because our roads can be really narrow.
24:05 That red Toyota was the MVP here, flashing high beams to warn the biker. Kudos to you, sir!

ouch.. please don't progressively break... that's painful. Please use progressive braking instead... 😂
It wasn't safe to lane filter on the one at 21:00 mins. That was a UK road, and that was a left turn only lane, so you'd have to get in front of the car then cut across to the left.
14:10 The center of the lane always has more oil deposits than the left or right. Oil pans are on the center of the car. There is little tire traffic, so the oil builds up. NEVER ride in the center of the lane. Even if it's not raining, the center will still have more oil on it!
You know I've been following you for a while. And I've been noticing that more and more riders are getting better and not wrecking. There are a few that make mistakes but people seem to be listening to your advice. Rescue kit one and 2 escape plan. I like watching these videos even though I have a lot of experience riding, I watch just to remind myself of all the possibilities that I can end up getting hurt whether it be overconfidence or road hazards or dumb dumb's( other vehicals/ riders). It's like a pre game for me in the Winter so that way when I get back on my bike when weather permits,I can look out for those hazards and escape (hopefully). Thanks😅
I regret not pulling off and waiting for the sun to go down. I was riding into the sun after a rainstorm terrified guessing my speed to not break my focus on the road, I was passed by a speeding car in the next lane. They could not have had any better vision than me, meaning I could have been fatally rear ended.
21:05 Looks like the UK, here in Australia we can't filter in turning lanes, but they could still keep their distance and stay to the left or right so that they can move in instances like that. Another reason to always keep your bike in gear, never change into neutral at lights.
@wibblywobblyidiotvision
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, definitely the UK. By the rider's position, s/he was looking to turn left, filtering would have put them in a dangerous position whatever happened. Filtering on the left puts them in a sandwich between the car who's also turning left, and on the right means they have to cut the car off. Also, if the straight ahead lane goes green first, being on the right leaves them exposed to a bunch of traffic screaming past them close to the right handlebar. Their positioning was not just good, it was close to perfect. Big space cushion in front, positioned in the centre of the lane meaning nobody can try to squeeze past them. Shame the ars*wipe in the white van didn't know which pedal to use, sometimes you can't avoid stupid.
@Cheesus-Sliced
9 ай бұрын
@@wibblywobblyidiotvisionyou can position centrally but still point to the side. I do this whenever I'm behind a car, either position fully to the side or back wheel is in the center, front wheel is to the side, and if I get shunted forward I'll go to one side rather than into the vehicle in front, and it has the double effect of making my bike more visible.
“That’s it - she didn’t get shot?” 😂😂😂😂 Even to get pushed off in the UK is extremely rare, the most you can usually expect in a road rage incident here is a bit of shouting and hand signals 😂 But she shouldn’t have stopped, if it looks like they actually want a fight always just ride off, or if she stopped in a more populated area members of the public would have instantly shut that guy down 😎

Hi, Found your channel today and it's been very interesting to hear what you have to say! I like your calm approach to explaining the situation. At 14:42 you're explaining your position on the road and I agree with you, but I also see that this rider is from the Netherlands. Here we learn to position ourselves just left of the center of our lane. Just like the rider in the video does, so according to our learning system he's doing nothing wrong placement-wise. I also happen to know that if you go to an advanced class to learn to be a police officer on a bike or be an instructor, you'll learn to ride more towards the middle of both lanes. So there's this weird thing were you'll basically be penalized by the exam instructors if you want to get your motorcycle licence, but it's a must-do in advanced classes.

Have to "fix" it before taking my big bike test though or I wouldn't pass, they say you're "in the wrong position acting like you're a car driver" 😐
The one in the UK where motorbiker failed to let him pull out. The car realised it was in the wrong lane (was a right turn lane only) - and so wanted to get out. Perfectly legal. The motorbiker was a little rude in failing to let the car out and also put himself at risk had the car not spotted the biker closing the gap so quick. Law of tonnage, helping everyone keep flow, last min accel to close gaps.
@20:40 this is in my town where I live in Ashford United KIngdom, Theres a lot of builders around and a lot of Industrial estates, and thats why I always Lane filter and go in front. Most people are fine and already used to bikes getting in front and lane filtering.
I'm no longer on Facebook but years ago there was a group called "Toyotas in the Left Lane". It looks like now there is a newer one called "Left Lane Prius".
In autocross we say "he who apexes latest wins". Works well for riding as well.
I used to have one of those Yamaha DT LC (first bike😊) and it felt like there was something else the matter there. Maybe oil or a flat. The tyres didn't look right also. One of the problems of that bike was that it was too good at cornering for it's own good, to a level that in a normal day you could scratch those pegs in almost every turn (and it's a trail bike, so it's gonna be taller than a sports bike) but that gives you a false sense of safety. The more on the limit, the less margin you have to play. Sometimes, you have grip so you get away with less margin. In controlled conditions, on a known road, good weather an tyres, I remember scratching pegs left turn, tilting right real fast, and as the centrifugal force reduced, the load on my fork springs, it was so much that my front wheel went airborne for a while, without throttle, before insertion on the new trajectory. But for this to happen, everything has to be in place. And that's why this doesn't go well in public roads... Memory lane I guess...😅
good luck fighting someone with protective gear 😂
Cortech guy's friend has a LOT more lean angle, which means he's going to turn more. Cortech guy is pretty well bolt upright in that turn - I thought at first he might be scared to lean, but he's fine in the right hander. You're likely right that he's reading his buddy rather than reading the road.

14:40 All rear brake, no front. Completely locked up until it tips over. If he'd have come off the brake for a second it would have unlocked and re-aligned and he could have stopped easily because the speed was fine. No front brake at all, so probably told to not use the front in the wet because it will cause a crash, which it ends up casuing the crash by not using it. Practice using both brakes in the wet so this doesn't happen.

@@user-vw4ln2gq8fthere really isn't though. Its been demonstrated very thoroughly in many studies that filtering almost never results in collisions, and when it does in some way shape or form the damage is negligible compared to the damage that would be expected in the very common nose-tail collisions. Its been demonstrated to reduce traffic, increase rider safety and reduce overall damage from collisions. When filtering at sensible speeds, its also not dangerous to pedestrians. Collisions with a pedestrian and a motor vehiclr travelling 30kph or under have a 90+% survival rate. Collisions aside, most motorcycles are air cooled and will be damaged by overheating if stationary for more than a few minutes, as happens quite frequently in congestion. I know for a fact the only reason my bike hasn't blown up is because I consistently filter and do not sit stationary in traffic unless its unsafe to avoid it. Heck, just a few weeks ago I would have been stuck barely moving for over 20 minutes, which certainly would have caused significant heat damage, if filtering wasnt legal here. Given the fact that between a 10 and 25% shift to motorcycles would entirely remove congestion (depending on the location), its absurd to think theres any benefit to making a small, nimble vehicle occupy as much space as a car and add as much congestion as a car.
The cars in front of Cubie had stopped because there were people on the pedestrian crossing ahead. You can see tiny black silhouettes on the white lining at exactly 11:41. Passing the row of cars wouldn't have been that much of a safe path because of the risk of hitting those pedestrians.

I dare someone to walk up on me acting aggressive while I’m on my bike. I carry and have a good lawyer for a reason
at 22:44 he was on the front brakes and it sucked the handle bars towards the ground like a magnet
Man, that is assault! She has the video, hope she called the cops. Never should have happened though. Ladies, go to a public place! If there is a store the has cameras, park in line of sight.... if they park, go in, if they go in, go to the courtesy desk and call the cops, and ask for the video footage of them following you.
4:42 gets you lit up in Texas.
@ 25:25...Either the maroon colored car/oncoming driver in the vids far right/viewer perspective (Left in real world;) lane headlight flashed the white E-SquishBox as an 'OK to turn' who was attempting to make a RT hand turn w/stop'd traffic...OR....He had seen the rider approaching & gave him a heads up as to the obscured looming danger?...-Poss both?
7:00 The las time I got confronted like that, the guy ended up with a helmet in his nose :/
Rider at 21.05 is in the UK.
Filtering is illegal here in france but I do it anyway because I value my life more than my license
Toll booths before ezpass was bad when it rained put your foot down to pay and it slides and bike goes down not fun picking up 500 plus pound bike lol
Prius driver here. I don't understand it either. Never ever did this kind of sh*t. Triumph Bonneville T120 rider also... Maybe that cured me? Don't know. Here in Switzerland, Prius drivers are not a problem. Got much ore issues with Subaru or Mitsubishi Pickup drivers. (Mostly farmers) Oh yeah, lane filtering is not allowed here. Not at all.
21:02 UK it is
25:26 The on-coming car flashed his lights to warn the rider the car was going to pull out.
This is why you carry when you ride, you don't have the luxury of a protective cage to keep people away
when the sun is at my back I ride extra safe

High beams with the sun behind you makes you _harder_ to see, not easier, because you're cancelling out your own shadow.
The blind spot in the prias is the worst of any vehicle I’ve ever operated including box trucks.
Yea I was gonna get your rescue pack but 195 dollars is way expensive especially when shipping is still 17 bucks
Two Wheels In London needs to redo his Theory and Practical tests.
Cortech was following Max Wrist 😅😅
30:07 Late/wide turn. Typical car traffic from left turns like the rider, and right turns from the other direction pushes gravel into a patch between them. This could have been avoided by following the normal traffic path that cars take making that left hand turn. You can see this patch of gravel that he slipped on at 30:08. Not random.
The only european country left with leftside traffic and yellow numberplats is Englandistan...
I spoke to that girl who got pushed over on her bike. She stopped because she was heading home and didn’t want to lead him there Personally If I had a guy approach me like that I’d lead him to my partners work (or if he was home) and let my partner deal with him

I would just ride to the police station, why endanger the person you love, like they could have a weapon.

@@ZinoAmarethis - I’m an ex marine and ex cop, I know how to fight - doesn’t mean I want to. One hit (mine or theirs) and life can change forever. Ride till you lose them, find crowds, or ideally police. Don’t put your loved ones in bad situations if you have other options.

It makes sense not wanting to lead him back to where she lives but hopefully she learns from this and next time just lose him in traffic. Looks like she’s in Woking just outside of West London so it should take no time at all to find some traffic to drop him off in 🤣🤣🤣
21:00 looks like rider was all red bike red gear parked in the middle of a red car, dude must have been invisible to the van driver.
