Hey guys just came across your channel and just binged several of your vids. Don't know anything about narrowboats but it is pretty relaxing watching you guys going about your daily lives on it. Honestly, that narrow hiking path up the side of the mountain…on bikes!! What on earth!?! So glad you decided on a smoother trail in the end. Scary hearing shots fired, especially in such a quiet looking place. Glad you stayed safe. Happy birthday Joe! I’m sure I can remember being 30….a long time ago! I spent mine ice climbing in Scotland so almost as adventurous as you, but not as warm! Have a fabulous time 🎉😊

@@DanniandJoe Those were in large part unmarked trails for foreging wild asparagus not the marked hiking or biking paths, the cave could be in fact a WW2 bunker (there were some toughts of making a D day sort of landing in Istria). BTW Slovenia is not Balkan, if you're of this opinion than you have to include Italy as well.

So enjoyed that. I totally identified with your extreme dilemmas, been there. One one of our last trips, my partner in crime had set the tour to hiking rather than cycling. 😂. We ended up needing a plan B and when you’re off road, that can mean a day wasted. The ‘ferry’ was the sensible way, no cheating there. Really looking forward to next week. X

As both of you are coplaining about your knees I woudl look at your seat heights and saddle positions as a cm too low messes your knees up, too high and you hips go awol. two weeks is usually enough time for the body to bruise in, your bums to season and your muscles to change up a gear. lower gear and higher cadence. for pushing a bit of seatbelt webbing sewn into a loop so you can use your shoulders and upper body more. a wet bandana on the neck helps cool you down. keep a two litre pop bottle squashed flat for extra water on bad days but you ideally need a pint an hour until your body adjusts and needs less. have fun and take care.

Awesome thanks for that! Yeah we've been finding one of our 600ml bottles (pint and a bit) every hour on the move, with refills along the way as we're carrying 4 x bottles each

Never too old to travel! It’s crazy to think we planned to move to Australia in 2020 so I could nurse. The only downfall is how far away it is from anything else to travel. We will make it there one day I’m sure ☺️

I presume your route from Split takes you into Bosnia at Neum and do the short section of the country before entering Croatia again. Also by now you actually are past there but there is a new bridge in Croatia that avoids that border crossing and you can stay in Croatia. From there you will enter Montenegro? Then into Albania to Shkoder? Then North Macedonia into Greece or direct from Albania?

@@DanniandJoe Keep eating the Ćevapi/ćevapčići and Börek - cheap, filling and full of energy. Begova čorba (Bey's soup) is good if you are feeling a bit off. Uštipci (fried dough balls) for a carb hit and shopska salata (salad) for refreshing and cruchy. I'm UK national but staying for a while in Sarajevo. Keep pedalling, you'll get there.

I was looking for some metal rods or something but pencils were the best the supermarket had. I'm going to take them off & straighten the brackets properly then re-fit with them overlapping to see if that helps at all

Traffic is crazy, cars ovetaking at way over the speed limit and way closer than would be acceptable in the UK. Just too dangerous in our opinion so sticking to smaller roads & tracks as much as possible
