Man you just saved me 1800 bucks. The chain on my Fz v2 was making a horrendous sound as if it would tear apart, cleaning and lubing did no help. Every mechanic suggested changing the whole chain set. But I changed the lock and boom magic, I was hoping the sound would become lower but it completely vanished. Thanks a lot bro, keep making more such videos.

Solid video bro. And yes, nearly all owner's manuals I've read that come with motorcycles recommend standard gear oil for lubrication. The same user manuals never really say to change the chain set after any number of Kilometers. Just check and maintain. Only replace chain sets when the chain sags too much and the tension is already at the maximum as per the owner's manual.

I have the same problem on my Yamaha FZ. I approached a mechanic and he just removed the front sprocket cover, removed the inner sprocket, applied grease on the drive shaft, then cleaned the sprocket, put it back, and lastly adjusted the chain. After that, the chain sound completely disappeared, but after 200-300km of riding, it came back. I'm planning to do this way, so I hope it will work.

Very interesting indeed. I also own a FZS. I had a similar problem and many asked me to change the whole chain and sprocket set. I after checking found the front sprocket had worn out a bit and the teeth had become sharp pointed !!. So I only changed the front sprocket and the noise stopped !

Im having the same problem with my venom x20 but it looks like its laying down on a part thats attached the the foot peg it has a rubber top so it doesnt scratch metal but you can hear it like its scratching. I habent replaved the sprocket lock cap but was womdering if thats what needs to be replaced

Thanks bro .. as you are using fzs v3 the shaft of the sproket is not of good quality so make sure you keep it lubricated regularly. There are many videos comming forward about this problem. So just be careful.

Update : Change the front sprocket if the noise comes back - it worked on my father's unicorn. If the chain is rusted change the chain, front and back sprocket - it worked on my fz 16. Don't by chain and sprocket assembly from local shops, if possible buy it from the official dealership. If bought from a local store check it properly. Original sprockets (Yamaha) will be with silver colour and not the bronze or gold colour. The original chain doesn't comes with a quick link. The mechanic may recommend you the chain with quick links because they are easy to replace but they are definitely fragile. Lube the chain with gear oil and wipe the excess with a cloth, do not use any kind of Grease on the chain especially on the front sprocket because it will accumulate dirt and wear out the front sprocket even faster. Wash and lube the chain every month and in rainy season do it more often. Wash it with soapy water and do not use petrol, use disel or kerosine or chain cleaner but they are also not recommended, if you have pressure washer use it.

Hii My duke 200 bs6 has the same issue with the sound and the showroom people told me to change the entire sprocket but i visited my frnd garrage and he suggested to change the GB sprocket and i did it..surprisingly i have no problem with the chain now and it’s running smoothly now.. showroom people always suggest u to change the sprocket which costs 2800+900 labour but i finished my work in 210 rupees by changing the GB sprocket and it’s running smooth like before❤

Bhai mere chain se v kat kat ki sound aati h jb accelerate krta hoon. Lkin lube krne k baad sound nai aata h. Lkin jaise hi lube kia hua3-4 din hota hai. Waps se sound aane lgta h. Iska solution v same rhega kya

Bro is it good to mix multipurpose grease with gear oil for chainlube. Bro I am currently using 140grade gear oil. Is 2t oil good for chainlube. Which grade of gear oil is the best for chainlubing.

140 is also good but personally I haven't tried it i have been using 90 grade since a decade and never had any issues.

Hi Moto Mentor, I m looking for the best LED headbulb for the FZS that adapts well to FZ reflector. The bulb I m looking for is the beam pattern coming from the LED should have same as the halogen bulb produces. Do you have any idea of that? If separate video can you make for that also good thing. Yes You can try either 90 or 120 grade gear oil. I have have been using gear oil since 14 years and quite happy with it .

There is slightly a movement for me. But if its too much then clutch settings needs to be adjusted.

I have used .. yamalube 20w 40, motul 15w 50 and currently using 20w 50 motul fully synthetic.. which is working like a charm ... i do most of the servicing by my self since last 7 yrs my bike hasn't seen the face of service center.

I will be bro just approach the suzuki service center and ask for this lock if they don't have request them if they can get it for you.

I think, that is due to the lube in the chain. Sound should come back when the oil loses density.

Get it from service center my friend just got it few days back

The noise is still there just subtle, It needs a new set of chain and sprocket mine only lasted 53k km even well maintained with Gear oil 90w, Wear and tear cannot be avoided
