It’s really starting to come to life with a new lick of paint and the curtains (which drove me mad installing). Currently on the way to Wales to get a piece of equipment installed that I can’t wait to share in videos coming up. Thanks for all your advice and tips on the van build, it massively helps. Make sure you’re following me on Instagram for live updates - @willswhereabouts 🤙🏼

Take ribbon, twine, whatever and tie the windows back. They look great! I'm glad you went with a lighter color for the walls. I LOVE that you mess it up and show us. Much more entertaining. For finger marks, spatters and dirt - you might not like the look but, I would consider sponge painting with about 3 similar colors of grey so that you get a lightly dappled effect. Also a semi-gloss paint if you don't have it already.

If your kitchen units are chipboard, any edges that you had to cut to size, its a good idea to seal with a couple of coats some polyurethane varnish. To stop the chipboard expanding when it gets wet or damp in the winter.

You don't need all that fabric at the windows. Draw curtains closed and work out how much you can reduce. Remove excess fabric from two centre seams. Also use side poppers to fix curtain tie each side and will let in whole more light! If down west country way happy to show you what to do and also how to do upholstery/cushions properly! 🤗 You are so right about taking your time, but you are getting there!😎

You seem so much more light hearted. Its a joy to watch. What are you going to do with the space above the kitchenette window? Are you putting a little cupboard there? If its prone to touching and thus finger marks and your not putting a cubby there, consider a salt and pepper/ spice rack? Plant shelf? A nice bit of art... All of which will deter you from leaning and creating finger marks. Alternatively consider a Polyvine Dead Flat Acrylic Varnish or something? Ply absorbs moisture quite alot and what you don't want is swelling. Due to movement also consider marine building materials... sealants etc... no vehicle moves more than a boat hey and this would help with potential condensation.

Ive tinted windows AND the blackout curtains, now we can have our interior lights on and nothing can be seen from outside . Hopefully wel catch up for a brew somewhere in the future and compare notes. The times ive kicked my tools , thrown components sworn screamed and yelled is unbelievable so youre not on ypur own

Mate, love seeing your progress, however satin finish paint for your panels will be easier to keep clean as emulsion isn't cleanable. And your curtains only need enough material to cover half the window each side too much will result in less window as you're finding out. Keep going and enjoy it.

In the US we have flat, eggshell, satin, semi gloss and gloss finishes. Flat and eggshell will leave scuffs on the wall and is more difficult to clean. Satin is a great option for kitchens and baths because it is easier to keep clean. You just wipe them down.

L👀king Good! Suggestion ... "tie backs " for your curtain. It won't give you back 60 cm, but it can widen your window space. If you're ok w/a needle & thread sew the tie back onto the curtain. If not. You could even glue gun the tie back onto your curtain. Happy Adventures!

Will you can sort out your curtain issues with some tie back straps. If you make them/get them made from some black fabric to match your curtains you won't even notice them when the curtains are open. Make them as short as you can get away with so that they hold the curtains back as tight as possible. Put a press stud on the ends of the straps to close them around the curtains and use a press stud in the centre of each strap to fix it to the window frame. To tie them back to the max, you could put two tie back straps on each curtain, one at the top and one at the bottom. This way they would be held back from top to bottom giving you much more light.

Watching you has become great source of craic! As the mother of 3 kids might I suggest using a washable type paint for the next layer. Are you intending to use the sink and the drawers? And hook up the hob to propane? And have your fridge all in that current kitchen configuration? I’d love to see a drawing of how that’s going to work.

Once you've done your final coat on the walls use something called decorators varnish. It's matt so you won't see it but protects the walls and makes them washable.

Wood filler isn't a mistake over screw holes, the screws are holding that part of the ply completely still, so it wouldn't crack any more than if it was inside of a house. I've used filler in my van, (not even wood filler, but lightweight quick dry stuff) and two years later, it's still fine (I've also been decorating professionally for seven years now, so that helped my knowledge base!). You'll actually probably find that the caulk/flexible filler will actually leave "crack" lines in the paint, where the paint reactivates the caulk a tiny amount before it dries. In both cases, all it takes is another fill/another coat of paint in the future, and you're all sorted.

It looks fab Will, really coming together now! Little bit of overkill on the fabric for the curtains but still great. The colour looks just lovely! Looking forward to seeing this week’s progress ❣️

More hurry less speed lol Tip for curtains a bit of very thin leather or rope whichever colour you fancy tie in the middle of each curtain once opened to give u a bit more light loving this build as you learn

Hi Will great videos, you make me laugh everytime. More like a reality series . As a marine upholsterer myself you could add some 25mm black or grey webbing tie backs to the curtains pulling the centre back and giving you more window. If you let me know the dimensions you need ill supply them to you foc. In a dark grey with the stainless screw in poppers to attach to . All the best Lee 👍

Can you not cut the curtains down so there's not such much excess when curtains open. If not, use some nice fabric and tie them in the middle when pulled back that will allow more light through. Looking good Will. Great perseverance mate. 👍 Funny when you kept loosing your drill bits 🤣 (I'm not the only who has disasters!)

If you want more airflow from the windows pop off the lil snaps off the side with the window screen and it will give u the most air flow. So basically both curtains will be all pushed to one side. Hope this makes sense
