Biggest problem are brakes on 2022 WRX. Front pad upgrade Carbotech AX6 5BA-VBH

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The pads on the new WRX are the worst thing about this new WRX 5BA-VBH platform in my opinion. Lets install new Carbotech AX6 pads on the 2022 Subaru WRX and fix that problem. This is the best mod you can do to the new 2022 WRX in my opinion.

    The pads are awesome! Don't worry about the noise, the quiet down after a few days of driving. I completed the install 2 weeks ago and I am amazed by how much more stopping power the 2022 WRX has. Those of you who have tried Carbotech pads, let me know in the comments below what you think of them. 👍

    My pads seems to only be noisy when I stop hard and they get some heat in them and once warm drive and brake normally they squeak. If I just drive normal they don’t make noise. But yes, the braking power is crazy over stock. Well worth the money and extra brake dust. Thanks for watching.

    The roro vessels only take about 12 days to make it over from Japan. Your car should be here pretty quickly. The stock pads are the biggest downfall of the VB WRX. I dont know how the Subaru R&D test drivers in Japan would sign off on these. They are bad a low speeds, but at speeds above 80mph with hard braking, you will experience a sensation of OMG I cant stop!!!! The Carbotech pads are awesome, but the brake dust of terrible. Even with wheel cleaner it is almost impossible to scrub the dust of the wheels even using a proper Griot's wheel cleaner kit and spray.

    Good call! thanks for watching. I recently installed the STI 6 piston brakes up front, their stopping power far exceeds the Carbotech. I like the Carbotech pads, but the brake use is overly excessive that does not come off of my wheels even with weekly washing. After 8k miles my Rotors have 6mm of wear and are shot. Went with STI brakes and stock pads. Will last a long time, lots of stopping power and brake dust that can easily be cleaned off the the wheels.

    @@JDMRightHandDrive Did you end up getting spacers and longer lug nuts for the swap? I believe rear STI calipers are straight bolt on, except for the dust shield trim. For lower dust, you can try some cheapo ceramic pads as they usually don't require warm up.

    me too. 22 rex OEM brakes. stopping from 120 was sketchy. They work, but they should stop way better than they do for a car this capable. I've used Yellow Stuff before on other cars, and they were OK. Sometimes dust would be a bitch to get off the wheels though. I wouldn't use semi-mets because the flakes burn into the wheels. Can anyone recommend EBC blue stuff? or blue vs. yellow. I can't find anything that justifies the Carbotech prices. I'm also concerned that the AX6 operate at 50F+, and winter might be a problem here in PA typically under 30 degrees.

  • @RobHTech
    @RobHTech10 ай бұрын

    i agree, the OEM pads don't suck, but not as good as they should be at high speeds. Are these really worth the $$$$ ? And how are they in the cold weather? Spec says 50-1000, so what about 20 degrees? How do they compare to EBC Yellow or Blue?

  • @DavidGarcia-oi5nt

    @DavidGarcia-oi5nt

    10 ай бұрын

    I'd say these would be better for winter as they are more than likely semi metallic pads, if they grab hard then they produce heat quicker to get up to speed. It's full ceramics you wanna be careful of.

    I have EBC Yellowstuff front and rear so the parts for the rear is out there. Apparently the rear uses BRZ pads. Carbotech does list the part numbers for both front and rear. CT2045-AX6 front like you have and CT1124-AX6 for rear. Subispeed hasn't updated their site to include the rear for the 2022 WRX even though the part exists. Just wanted to help you out if you were looking to get those rear ones installed too.

    @@JDMRightHandDrive I did my first ever track day at Buttonwillow Raceway back on October 22. I went full stock car and everything was great except the brake fade I started feeling mid day like I've seen others mention as well. I upgraded the brake fluid to Motul RBF 600 and installed the EBC Yellowstuff shortly after and just did another track day at Sonoma Raceway on November 26. Massive difference that I cannot overstate. I never felt any fade and braking was just consistently strong all throughout the day. So I can't 100% confirm if it was just because of the DOT 4 fluid but damn for now it's definitely a super good solution until maybe we can like slotted rotors as well or something.

    Does this change the bite point at all, or do you still have to use a lot of travel before they start doing anything? They are noisy from time to time. Usually only after hard braking, which puts heat in the brakes and then right back to city driving. The brake dust is very excessive and almost impossible to clean of the wheels even using Griot's wheel cleaner. The performance is amazing though, I just don't like how hard the wheels are to clean. Takes 30 minutes per wheel to scrub it clean. I might test out some of the new Endless pads next time.
