My Go To Brake Rotor & Brake Pad Combo!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

You guys have always asked me what my suggested brakes are so here we go!These are the brakes that I generally always use on my cars and there is a reason for that! It is time to change the OEM rotors as they have lived their life for a full 30K miles. Yes I could have had them turned and I could have reused them but I like the look of the slotted rotors. The new set up consists of a set of StopTech Sport Slotted Rotors as well as Hawk HP Ceramic pads. These have done me wonders through the years for spirited driving runs and daily drivers!

With every upload you do, I love this channel more and more. You're really good at giving easy, simple instructions so that even the most noviced novicer (??) would feel comfortable doing an install. Alot of automotive KZreadr's ( youtuber is a lame word haha ) skip the step by step instructions so I definetly appreciate the extra time you take for the ones who are going to your videos for help.

I'm really late when it comes to commenting to this, but drilled rotors are necessarily unnecessary. There is a reason why super cars and hypercars rock them. The cracks developing in the rotors that Tanner mentioned are normal and have no effect on breaking long term as the cracks are just surface level. Also rotors come in different compositions as well. The rotors Tanner put on his car are steel rotors. Once you start tapping into carbon, carbon ceramic, or titanium rotors, you will start seeing an increase in performance. But most people will need either steel or carbon ceramic brakes. Carbon or titanium brakes will only be necessary if you're planning on using your car for track days as those two compositions generally require greater heat to actually start working better.

Your videos have def inspired me to finish my sti. I have an 07 and have done a lot of the basic bolt ons and was going to wait to upgrade the turbo after the engine went. The road to 400 helped me realize I could run an upgraded turbo on the stock block. The only other things I was missing was the killer b pan. Baffle. Flex fuel. iwire. And aem fuel pump. I keep up on all the maintenance and with 110k on the stock block I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed 🤞.

One thing i want to add in case anyone watches this to do their brakes in the future… Once you have the front tires set and the rear in the air, release the e-brake so the brake shoes go back in. It will help with removing the old rotor and putting on the new one.

Great video!!! 👍👍👍👍 When talking about left and right on a car, it is based on sitting in the driver's seat. So left is drivers side, right is passenger side. Heli-coils SUCK!!!! I would rather spend the money to replace the part than do heli-coils. Also when taking the rotors off, use 2 bolts, one for each hole. Tighten one a bit, then the other one a bit. And keep doing that and it should work its self loose. Only using one bolt, you run the risk of bending a wheel stud or warping the hub surface. Don't put lock tite on the caliper bolts. It is completely un necessary. Anti-sieze only.

How easy was it to get thru the front caliper bolt? for some reason I am having a hard time fitting the 19mm bolt in it. Tried a normal and deep socket ones but it ends up hitting the bolt behind it. Forgot the name for it. Any tips? I also bought a stop tech rotor and stop tech sport pads ! Tho it dint come with a grease.

OEM is Brembo rotors, callipers and pads or have I been mistaken for years and is it only the callipers and pads? I ask because Brembo is a premium brand and thought at least use Brembo pads. Nothing against Stop Tech or Hawk, quality, good rep and they are made domestically for you and I suspect less $$$$. I almost went Stop Tech when I upgraded to a big brake kit from the wimpy OEM brake set up on my Base WRX. Chose Brembo, now that's $$$$. Regardless your slotted set up is superior to a solid disc, for any track use. Isn't it great to be able to stop on a dime!
