I'm an engineer and we used to work in a separate building from the plant with a street name called Easy street. Everytime I walk inside the plant, they call us Easy money. Too bad the plant is no longer there. Next time if someone says something like that to me, I'll ask them "Do you think NBA or NFL players get paid much more than engineers? Is that easy money? Go look up how many of those players file for bankruptcies and most importantly find out why. I'm in my early 50s and I have a target like Alux says. Living a modest life with a few splurges once in a while is good enough for me. I don't need 15 million, I'm fairly confident 2 million is more than adequate for myself. As to whether I want to leave my wealth to the next generation, I want to see how my nieces and nephews handle their finances. I'd rather leave it all to charity if I find out they spend their earnings like water without thinking of the consequences. Yes it can be cruel but that's how I feel.

Is working at a gas station or at minimum wage easy money compared to an engineer or movie star, NFL or NBA player? Some may think so.

  • @richlandzee8686

@Stuart Hirsch - If someone is happy working at a gas station until he retires that's his choice. I used to work part time as a dish washer in the university for a few years. It was $4.75 an hour. Is that enough for you to survive, you decide. I started from the bottom and was lucky to not having any student loan debt when I graduated. You don't need an advance degree to figure out that if you spend more than you make then you're technically broke. Many Americans simply want to live the YOLO life and have no idea or care about their bank balance. Having credit cards makes things even worse. The guy who told me I was easy money actually drives a Mercedes, i guess he's the easy money or is he?

@@richlandzee8686 Similar story with me. I worked in a tile store for $1.00/hr to help supplement my community college expenses and lived at home. Got an AA in electronics technology. Then I then got a job overseas and started University College which renamed itself to University of MD global campus. When I returned I had saved $20,000 income tax free because I worked for a contractor. My employer paid most of that so I had no college debt. I rented a room for 10 years and invested my money. This enabled me to be completely debt free debt free for almost all my life. My actual earned income was not as much as most of my peers but I was eventually able to exceed their standard of living. Now, at 72 years of age and having no children I consider philanthropy my major bucket list goal. Dave Ramsey is right Live like no one else when your young and you will live like no one else in the future. I think that is what ALUX and particularly this video is all about.

I really wish you would have expanded more on the Time is Money. It's amazing how people waste their time. Also, I love the quote in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, where Gordon Gecko said that he learned in jail that money isn't the prime asset in life--time is. I've been very lucky in my life to meet the richest of the rich (Richard Branson, among others) and before that I was very poor, on unemployment and even homeless for a week. People who are successful think in terms of minutes and hours (even seconds) and usually maximize all of it, even if it means they are taking a power nap for 20 minutes. People who are on the extreme other side of the coin, and I lived this for a while, look at time in terms of days or even weeks, like if I didn't do it today, I might do it tomorrow, or maybe next week and so on. Since their money often comes from the state, they know that once they are set up to get it, it will keep coming for a while.

Nice content! Few years back i was assistant to a wealthy pen artist and within the short period i worked with him i observed that he had quite a chunk of investment everywhere, stocks, crypto, dividend investing to name a few, so he had revenues coming in from all angles. And in a year his worth doubled. With this i learned that the rich stay rich by investing.

I think the major challenges investors face may range from controlling impulsiveness to the frail of compulsion. Most newbies and would-be investors often undermine and most often neglect the importance of technical analysis with regards to investing. Technical analysis overly predicts the movement of asset prices regardless of what is happening in the wider or broader market. Essentially, the process involves studying the paths of a particular asset movement in the past so as to establish a sustainable pattern that can be used to predict future movements or better still get an investment advisor who'd guide you and help you manage your portfolio just like my boss back then, He was working with an IA Fxbrusher and i would bet he still does. I can boldly recommend her because i've witnessed her performance first hand. She's the real deal.

Great video Alux. To me the number 1 falsehood about money is that money is the root of all evil. Money is neither n either good or evil, merely a representation of wealth. Number 2 is that people prep and become become more self reliant out of panic and fear, actually thee opposite is the case. preppers don't panic, it is those who haven't prepped financially or otherwise who panic. Look at the toilet paper shelves at the beginning of the pandemic. Preppers had plenty of toilet paper. Self sufficiency also lessens your dependency on the supply chains and infrastructure. If you can grow and can your own food you need not worry if the grocery store has any or if you can afford it. If you are solar powered and off grid, or can generate enough power to live you need not worry about power outages or paying electric utility bills. The ability and capital required to produce power is wealth that pays you directly and at the retail rate. Myth 3, your health care is determined by your wealth. True we will need health care at some point, that is the purpose of insurance, to evenly distribute the costs of catastrophic, uncontrollable, and unforeseen events. However your health is basically in your hands. If most people lived a healthy life lifestyle will go long way to reducing health care costs. If most people lived a healthy lifestyle health care costs and insurance would be a relatively small expense. Finally the confusion of money with wealth. Money is currency, wealth is tangible possessions which can be traded, knowledge and skills that can be traded, and intangibles such as love, respect, health, and well being that cannot.

11:57 Correct to a point. Up to a few hundred returned is okay since the stress of having to pay the IRS isn't there (electronic requires an additional fee and any check requires your social number written on it). Getting thousands refunded or treating the tax refund as a savings account or windfall is just plain dumb.

Alux, amazing video again! Just want to say, you’ve put £200,000 and said £250,000 at the 15:56 mark. Also the script writer seemed a bit off with this one, some sort of personal opinion spilled thru. “You’ll die eating”, “you’ll be old over weight and won’t be able to taste your food”, and there was a few more. I would say seriously, don’t lack. You guys are awesome. I would hate for you guys to lack in the quality of your script writing now, bringing slightly odd wording, especially after bringing such a high quality to your scripting after all this time. You guys have been amazing up to this date. Honestly otherwise, You’ve done your job and kept us all financially motivated one again!! Keep the quality high! You’ve set high standards of quality DONT SLIP!! Let’s go Aluxers!

@Alux Thanks for this video. Saving money allows you to stay rich once you've already gotten there, but "there" which I'd assume as a financial milestone is relative, and differs for most people. My question is at what point do you know you're truly rich and saving money actually makes sense with respect to your financial portfolio?

Hate to break it to you guys but love is absolutely not free all of it’s conditional especially if you’re a guy allegedly getting love from a girl and getting love from a girl or having a relationship is gonna cost you time energy money resources or some kind of combination thereof at the second you stop providing them that love that you’re getting will be gone. And even in a relationship that it’s not like that all relationships require maintenance which at the very least will cost you time so like I said no form of love is free. Nothing at all is free this universe only owes you a death that’s the only thing you’re guaranteed outside of taxes of course almost forgot that one

WORLD To add to the discussion, my sister is law adamantly tries to defend her position that opportunities, money, and resources are scarce. This is something that I believe not to be true because scarcity is a mindset, especially when anyone can open their eyes to see that scarcity is a myth. If it was true, fewer people would be pursuing an education, starting businesses, and building homes. Cities, skyscrapers, and apartment buildings wouldn't be built. Therefore, another money myth that is not true is simply based off of what inspiring people are doing with what little or as much as they have.

You need some money to start with. I recommend sports betting. Investing is all about odds. So look for good odds. For example a tennis match of an absolute favourite against a looser. Odds should be 1.5 to 8 (the spread should be high). Now connected bets are not allowed, so YOU can't bet on both outcomes. Therefore you need a partner. You should be intelligent enough to figure out the rest. 😊

Millionaires are made in crash, so the more stocks drop, the more I buy, in the meanwhile I'm just focused on making better investments and earning more, apparently there are strategies to 3x gains in this present market cos I read of someone that pulled a profit of $350k within 2months, and it would really help if you could make a video covering these strategies.

The strategies are quite rigorous for the regular. As a matter of fact, they are mostly successfully carried out by pros who have had a great deal of skillset/knowledge to pull such trades off.

I agree, before the pandemic got real serious, I used to handle all my investment and I was pretty good at it, fast forward to post-pandemic and my-portfolio is steady in the red with profit rate down to the lowest, that's when I touched-base with a coach I saw featured on businessweek, who restructured my portfolio and over the last couple years, I've made over $850k from initially $210K

Coming from an Asian country, and currently living in the UK, and also holding bank accounts and investments in Singapore, I'm already a citizen of the world 😊 I'm diversifying my life in a global level, not just locally, and not just financially. For those whose country allows dual citizenship, they should try get a second citizenship. Politics are never stable, no one country is guaranteed to remain stable forever.

Good point on retiring early and how much you need in passive income to do so, but it’s also worth noting how much you will need and invest in property/business/market to live off passively at 2x your spending. For example, you will need roughly $750K in the market with stocks that pay dividends to live off passively at $5k/mo. Business or real estate investment is the option for me.

Are you seriously saying that people should invest in Russia (crash and dismemberment coming), Brazil (oh come on!), Iran (after oil, goodbye), China (coming population crash and famine) and South Africa (really?). Or Europe ?(dependent on US militarily). This collection of loser countries is trying to stave off the inevitable because they are in conflict with the States. With production shifting OUT of China, now is a good time to either reinvest in the US, or US client states like Mexico, Vietnam, etc.

One of the truest statements I read and take to heart is that just because you can afford something it doesn't mean you have to have it. That high ranking lawyer can easily decide to live in an ordinary house, drive a regular car, and wear jeans and a T shirt to the office for example.

I agree with the fact that investment can be done at all levels irrespective of one's income. I find it quite hard for someone in a third-world country where the system is not in place particularly Nigeria. However, I believe it will be best for one to start off a small business. For someone in this situation, what's your advise? I'd appreciate your reply.

Sure ONLY if it pays you enough. Imagine being a broke painter and you love painting. I want to be a singer but I don't have the voice nor the talent to be successful at it. Get a useful degree to support yourself first and I'll karaoke all I want when I retire. Many people say college is useless but I disagree. Imagine if you want to apply for an engineering, accounting or any professional jobs at Microsoft, what qualifications do they want in their candidates? As long as employers keep asking for these fancy expensive a page certificates, you have no choice. I think trade schools are an excellent cheaper choice. Either that or you take the risk and be an entrepreneur and see what happens. My mom once said, "I have nothing to give you but a good education, and none of you have the business genes," and she's right. We are all professionals who end up being corporate slaves our entire lives.
