Because these agencies are promoting parasocial relationships to these K-pop stans, and most K-pop stans are lonely and depressed people. What happens when lonely and depressed people are put in a parasocial relationships?? They get attached. And when these idols get put in scandals, they get possessive and mad cause they think theses idols are only for them..with fucked up expectations. Meanwhile these idols are normal people acting like a therapist for their fans.. a therapist is self aware and knows what they’re doing with their work. But idols are simply normal people trying to please these lonely and depressed peoples lack of social interaction. And when chasing these expectations they lose themselves too. K-pop is a little crazy

Personally, I like the whole "it's none of our business" response from companies in regards to dating rumors. I hope that if companies keep doing this the general public will get the message and start minding their own business.

exactly, the response that it's the idol's private life is true and is how the public should see it. if companies spend time disproving false dating rumors, then the ones they don't disprove will be revealed to be true and that's just an invasion of privacy for the idol. however, in situations where the evidence presented is doctored, then I think it may be fair for the company to step in to handle that

The way YG handles dating rumors is very "Western" and imo, is the best way to deal with speculation. The reality is that a celebrity's personal life is no one's business but their own. The fans don't need to know who the idols are dating. As far as the age thing, people lie about their ages all the time. If an idol being a year older than they say they are isn't causing legitimate harm to anyone, who cares?

I personally think idols have the right to confirm their relathionships if they want to and date freely. The reason why they want to keep it as private as possible is bc of delulu people who love to hate, and i just find it sad. Dating is such a normal thing, being in love, meeting people and it should be seen as a normal thing and it should be normalized in kpop and they have the right to go to a damn street and walk with their partner if they want to. These things NEED to be normalized because they are normal.

Its not the artist or the company's problem if a stan gets hurt because a person's emotions is beyond anyone else's control.

Garam is a valiant friend who wasn’t going to tolerate that. Do you believe every punishment handed out for bullying is 100 percent correct? That the school administrators get it right 100 percent of the time? Do police have 100 accuracy in their investigations 100 percent of the time? They NEVER arrest or imprison the wrong person? The school got it wrong. That or they were paid off by a parent. Or do you also believe school officials are incorruptible?

I think dating is fine as long as the idols didn't gain fans from constantly doing the 'I'm your gf/bf vibe' fan services. I find it annoying how some idols always call their fans 'girlfriend/boyfriend'. These kind of behaviour surely encouraged fan's delusional thoughts.

Hazarding a guess but I would guess that companies like YG only give vague answers because if they give a definite answer like "Yes they are dating" that is an instant loss of fans which equates to an instant loss of revenue. If the answer is vague and doesn't point to a yes or no, people stay as fans and they don't lose revenue. They do this as long as they can until there is absolute undeniable proof of dating. Honestly, it's a smart business move, whether we like it or not. I think a lot of people forget that first and foremost these are places of business and what is business all about? Making money. That is the priority.

Okay, you can't blame idols (especially female idols) for lying about their age when anything over 20 is considered "old" for debut. Mamamoo's Solar had difficulty finding an agency because she was "too old". She was 20/21 when auditioning. G.na was marketed as an "older idol". She was 23 when she debuted. Think of how many insanely talented singers there are who didn't decide to pursue it because by the time they realised they wanted to sing as a career, they were "too old". It's absurd. Early 20s is not too old. 14/15 is too young.

Why do u forget abt soojin? Cube didn't even freakin do anything other than kicked her out and she was proved not guilty

Unless the person says so, it is not the responsibility of the company if idols are dating or not. Personal information should be private unless the idols says so. Fans can't understand that.

Yeah like even bold projects like nct i cant imagine YET sm being brave enough to put nonasian idols in a future subunit. Maybe bc companies always consider first the korean and asian fanbase to be the marketable public, that probably prefer to see idols that are asians and the countries which will always consume kpop no matter what. And bc companies already have difficulties with asian foreign idols and have even more with other idols that arent asian like Black Swan' case. Even half asian half american or european arent that sure to become stable idols, only if they debut in a big 4 or midtier company.

The problem I see with the "none of our business" strategy of YG is that there's rarely ever anything done about malicious rumors being spread because of those statements. I think the age and birthday faking are done by the companies not the idol. As to the birthday thing, a lot of Koreans have two or three birthdates, because there's the Lunar calendar, Solar Calendar, and then something that has to do with their birth registration, so it can get confusing. I've also heard about date of conception birthdates as well so if you're fave Korean celeb has birthdays about 10 months apart you can probably guess why.

@@atinyshineforever9252 it can take as little as a week for swelling to go down for many facial procedures, bruising takes two weeks or so, but they wear makeup, masks, and sunglasses hides the initial stages of recovery as well. lip fillers take only 2-3 days, but even then i see idols with fresh lip fillers, they probably don’t even wait a single day before going back out with them
