Sir what are your thoughts on the 350W Trek/Pow Lithium Battery Power Bank which retails 399 but on sale on Touch of Mod App for 170? It is an invertor with solar panel option that charges I believe in 3 hours. Also ALL👨 need this app it has really nice stuff that sometimes are direct to market like an infrared steak grill. Geez I wish I was a dude. Thank you🙏 .

The Predator math doesn't work on the power output. When running the L14 30 amp plug to your house, the size of the wire is a number 10. It is good for 30 amps. Running the generator at 9500 watts is overloading your plug and wire by 2300 watts or 9.58 amps. Even running at 7600 watts is 400 watts overload . Get with a electrician before hooking this up to your house.

Your channel, simply put, is one of the best. I've used your information to study and research products that I have purchased and I found you to be accurate, honest, and candid. This year, I invested in an ego lawn mower and string trimmer, partly based on your information. I almost bought the little brother to the Perdator last year. I may end up buying this one. But I'm also fascinated and invested in power stations that some call solar generators. I've noticed you've reviewed some of those and did a fantastic job. I wonder if you only review products that are already assembled and marketed. I have built 2 solar generators/ power stations & they have immense power. Well, one is only 600 watts, but the other is 3600 Watts. There are people like Will Prowse & Dave Poz who show you how to build them. Will Prowse's most recent project is a very simple one with 5000 watts of power! Would you ever consider reviewing something like that? Thank you so much for what you do.

I needed a unit kzread.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y that I could store in my home when I wasn't running, so it being light and running on propane were key requirements. I can store the propane tank/bottle outside yet store the generator in my home when it's not in use as I will never put any gas in the engine. It is so light, and on echo mode, which I expect is how it will be used most of the time, it is pretty darned quiet (certainly compared to all the generators I hear in my neighborhood after each power outage). Many of the previous reviews had me concerned that it would be difficult to start on propane, but I have to say, I had absolutely no problem at all. I primed it first using the choke...3 pulls, heard the engine want to start, flipped it to propane, and one more pull and she started. I ran it for 2 hours the first time and plugged it in my fridge. And when I was done, I put the propane tank away and carried the generator to my basement for next time.I could not be happier.

I think features you pointed out are major for me personally; NOISE (a few db is monstrous), injection should be much cleaner and better fuel economy, internet connectivity, warrantee and did I mention NOISE every 3db is a doubling of sound pressure level. Finally, it's a HONDA with a price to match but worth the extra when amortized over the many years one will count on this always starting. I wanted to mention that a carb has gaskets that sometimes dry out even taking into considering the great feature of running it dry. Thank you for a well-presented review.

Nice to see you take this on. I just received its blue sibling, the Duromax XP9000iH and am in the process of building out its enclosure. The Duromax costs a bit more, but has a mechanical choke, built-in trickle charge and remote start. With interlock, I should not have to step outside to start it and switch. If the windings and engine survive a decade of the occasional use, I'll consider it worth it as a poor mans Generac.

It was not an easy task to find a replacment. With that I would say if all you can afford is a preditor get it. If you can afford better name brand stuff get that and it will be easier to find parts. With all of the electricity problems here, it does its job flawlessly. I do have a 21kw diesel generator now for the whole house. But when I turn on the predator every couple of months to make sure it is running it starts right up.

21-kW is a lot of watts. It will burn a lot of fuel even at no load. A battery/inverter set-up would minimize generator use. Throw in some solar panels. Diesel is $$$. What % of time are you off grid? Months at a time? You have big inductive loads?

I bought one a little over a year ago. Had issues with the low oil sensor right off the bat. Harbor Freight said to bring it back even though it's an hour drive to the nearest store for me and, the 9500 was in short supply, I chose to keep it. Thanks to KZread, I was able to connect with a user that had a solution to the sensor problem. I ended up bypassing that sensor and have ran it for almost 100 hours with no issues. In between uses, I faithfully run it once a month for at least 30 minutes. Not a big fan of all of these points of failure (sensors) but, over all, I still love my 9500.

Nice side by side comparison. 👍 I have the EU7000is & love mine! I have had it for 3 years of flawless operation. I have personally tested my generator to see how much power it puts out in non economy. I delivered 9200 watts everytime. Lots of other folks report similar findings. One watt over & it trips out. That’s impressive considering it’s running watts is rated at 5500 watts. Fuel injection is the way to go. I use very little fuel compared to a carbureted model. As for run time? I bought an after market auxiliary fuel tank that holds 6 more gallons of gas. Because mine is fuel injected, I don’t need to prime the tank each time. The fuel injection siphons fuel automatically from the auxiliary tank set on the ground. Personally I wouldn’t buy anything from Harbor Freight. They sell garbage tools. I shopped there once & bought tools that were just for light duty & they couldn’t even perform for very occasional use. Time will tell if the Predator has the goods that the Honda possesses?

I crashed a hammer through the top of it in frustration. The case was cheap cast aluminum. Low & behold. The motor was tiny compared to the case. No wonder it wasn’t up to the task? I bought a small pair of side cutters I bought for cutting string trimmer line. It couldn’t cut plastic string. Their tools weren’t up to the task of occasional use. I spent $100 that day for a few items. It was like throwing away good money for bad. I will never step inside another Harbor Freight store ever again even if they were giving the tools away for free. I’ll continue to buy the tools I have always been buying. I will tell you Knibex from Germany makes some fantastic tools. They often can be found used at incredible prices. Seems like a typical difference between warranty options which reflects in the price tags. The other deciding factor would be rebuild parts and availability. A hard run generator off-grid in Alaska let say is getting a rebuild approximately once a year. People here have two or three and alternate them out when one is being rebuilt and always have one for back up in case it should break down. I'd love to hear about the longevity of this generator off-grid.

We always have two gens (we’re offgrid) and thinking ahead and being savvy with time and money is key to success. Anyone else you buy a gen from, it’s a straight up hassle if something goes south, no matter the warranty. HF wins the war easily just for this reason.

Just be ready to feed a big unit like mine with fuel, 100 gallons a week pretty much. If you don't want that kind of fuel usage do this, cool the house with big bertha my 15500 before you go to bed, then shut her off and turn on your smaller generator that just powers a mini split and a fan in one room. I live in South Florida and I have that system going and I love it. During the night my neighbors love me because my earthquake generator goes to sleep in the garage, while my sip on gas baby comes out and gets locked in her cage next to my window. Don't forget, if you put a generator in front of your garage, you are advertising to everyone that doesn't have one to come and steal it.

Predator is 3x louder and will be a paper weight in a few seasons. Honda will still be worth thousands second hand with over a decade of use. How do I know this? Because I fix these generators. Well to be fair I don't fix very many Hondas but the Harbor Freight junk always comes in with everything rattled apart after maybe a couple of hundred hours of use. I've had Hondas in with 5 to 6,000 hours they needed nothing more than a carb clean and a new air filter. So spend $2,000 on something that will be worth $200 in 5 years. Or spend $4,500 on something that will be worth $3,000 in 10 years.

Pro tip: You can convert any carbureted gasoline small engine to propane with a DIY kit. They're basically universal and cheaply/readily available. My old Honda gen from the early 90's (6500EX) was converted and it's MUCH more cost effective to run that way! Not to mention that liquid propane stores for incredibly long periods of time vs gas and is available everywhere. You can go down to most grocery stores and pick up a 5gal BBQ bottle of propane. I personally have a 300gal tank that's semi-permanently setup close by where I keep my gen and it will run that generator for almost a month

It just had 20hrs on the clock but the owner left the gas knob open and did not use any fuel conditioner so the petrol roted inside the whole fuel system and seeped into the cylinder and caused the oil level to increase+ that residue locked the engine. I removed the entire fuel system from carbuator to fuel tank and clean everything up , it tooon 3 days to get the carburettor looking better. Left the engine cylinder with a lot of wd40 & while i was cleaning the carb the engine freed up , i put the spark plug and held a flamed out propane torch to the intake and in the first crank it ran and made enough power to run 2200w heatgun on full power. I ran for a min to check the power and then i was confirmed everything is good and after cleaning the carb and fuel tank & its running like brand new , everything works !! The generator is so quiet that i am glad my old honda ebk1000 was stolen and i got this awesome deal 😂. I am doing a propane conversion now as in my country it is cheaper on gas than on petrol.

It started first pull every time and ran like a champ. There's no doubt taken care of they will run. I just don't know about true longevity yet. My dad has a Honda EM series generator he bought when Hurricane Fran hit in 1994. It has over 1000 hours on it and still starts and runs without any issues. When we start seeing predator generators lasting as long as the Hondas then I will trust them. I do not have a Predator 9500, but we do a 4500. We live in Mexico, Baja Sur and have had to use it many times due to storm outages and simply outages. I was suspect how long it would last. Today - better than ten years later - the generator works as good as the day we purchased it. We run all our refrigerator units off of it primarily - 2 freezers and 1 large refrigerator. Handles them easy. One time close to two weeks. IF I purchase my next unit the Predator 9500 seems the way to go and add more connections like a mini split AC. A Generac is another choice - like with installation - think near $10,000 USD. My friend purchased one and the FIRST YEAR it did not work. Don’t worry you have a warranty, right? Well when you are there WHEN YOU NEED THE BACKUP and all you can say, “Thank goodness I have a warranty,” but NO ENERGY. Predator is the BEST DEAL, BEST BET FOR THE BEST MONEY. Thank you for your review.

We winter in the southwest desert of Arizona. There are no hook up's you have to be self contained. Once most people get to the park Jan/Feb. HF generators out number all other manufacturers 3 to 1. However I see more and more people using solar. What I have seen so far this year, solar has about double. This is our 4th season and we have used solar from the beginning. Our system is 3000 watts of solar and 600 Ah of lithium batteries. Gets a little hot early in the season. I am able to run our AC off the solar. Thanks for doing a great review 👍

LOVE my Honda Generators. eu3000is. paid 2k and ran it for 10 years, ~600 hours/year. 6000 hours. Only one issue in 10 years, turned out to be a clogged spark arrestor. Sold it for $1300 and still ran strong when I picked up a eu6500, used for $1600. Awsome upgrade for $300. 5 years later, no issues and 3557 hours. Runs both 15000 btu a/c's on my 5th wheel with much power to spare. And as far as fuel goes, I use 87 octane pump gas and will only put non-ethanal gas in it for long term storage. I camp off grid for 6 months/year. Honda is damn reliable and quiet. There is a huge difference between 59 & 67 db. 3 x as noisy. 3 year warranties go unused, as there are never any issues. I feel you get what you pay for.

So I have never put a battery in it. I am 69 years old and start it with no problems. My first Harbor Freight generator is the 2 stroke 1000 watt with 800 watts continuous. I have used it for years. It's a little hard to start in really cold weather, think 1" of ice on everything. So I am not afraid of their generators.

A couple questions... does HF actually offer a parallel kit for this generator? I don't see any mention of it on their website and the manual only mentions it under the safety section. I'm curious how you would get 7500W continuous or 9500W surge from 240 volts with a 30A breaker. Even at 7500W that is 31.25A and should trip the breaker. 9500W would be 39.58A and should definitely trip the breaker. I see Honda has increased the price of the EU7000i to $5059. Do you know of a place selling them for $4600? I see a lot of reviewers calling this a "Honda Killer" but in an honesty it would seem a bit premature to make that statement. Perhaps update the review after 5-10 years and racking up hundreds of hours on the unit. Only then will we truly see who is left standing.

I've had my Predator generator for 4 years now. I run it for about 4 hours every 4 to 6 months connected to my camper. I've actually needed to use it once. Had an electrical outage over night and it ran for 15 hours straight. Needless to say when start it with choke on doesn't need it. It cranks asap and have never had an issue. After 6 years of ownership with the Predator almost doubling output power you would still be ahead purchasing a Predator every 3 years compared to a Honda. I'm on 4 years on mine without missing a beat and can only say good things.

The 90 day warranty on something that expensive is a reason alone for me to avoid it. It tells me that they have absolutely zero confidence in their product. I'm not sure how much it costs to extend the warranty but if they had confidence, they would increase the base price of the generator and give a better warranty.

So, by that logic you only buy cars with 10 year powertrain warranties (Hyundai's and KIA's) because they MUST make a superior product to those only offering a 3 year warranty (Ford, GMC, Chevrolet)? You can purchase a 2 year extended warranty but it is your CHOICE to buy it. So good on HF for giving their customers the CHOICE to not have to buy something that they may not want.

Honda expects owner to bring unit to Honda repair shop to replace CO sensor, a planned revenue source. They could have installed a bypass switch, but no profit in that.
