    11 ай бұрын

All depends Do you need 240v ? The warranty and return for the predator will be pretty easy if something happened. The 7250 is a nice unit and I would grab that over the the 6000 but it’s a lot more money and does weight more but not by much. So far the 7250 is getting good reviews overall. But again it’s a lot more money. But if you want 240v then it’s not a question

  • @johnnysweekends

I would say not really a failing bending but more of where the motor is in relation to the compression stroke or exhaust stroke. If it fires real quick the bendix will free spin once engine is started because its a set time for activation. I have started this several times and it does this about 2 out of 10 starts I would say. And thank you. 😀👍🏼

I like the specs. The sound is not too bad but well above my Westinghouse @52 dB, however, I keep it under the house and it rarely is heard at all. I like that it is much easier to service. If I was buying a new generator, I would definitely consider this one. Dual fuel is really nice. I have a 100 lb propane tank which would be very convenient.

It’s definitely a nice unit. Wish it was a pinch smaller and lighter but again seems to be built tough. Although I have tested the Westinghouse as well, in a db test video and it was one of the louder units in the same tests with other gens. You can’t go off of the stated of what’s on the box. It’s still a quiet unit and they are all pretty close. But where you have it is great as long as properly vented and exhaust is pumped out..👍🏼

I live at 3200' but travel to the ocean and to the mountains alot and use my generator every trip. I can change jets no problem but fuel injection would be perfect for the people that don't possess the mechanical knowledge or just don't want to worry about it. There are a few gens out there with fuel injection or an "altitude adjustment lever" but it's not wide spread across small engines. We got away from carburetored engines in 1987 "GM", why are small engines so far behind?

Glad I could help, butttttttt 2 things. Does your food truck need 220/240v? Also buy the warranty it is worth it and it’s a write off anyway since you have a business. And a few of these are having issues. Mine is back and forth but many of them are doing just fine. I would say 5 out of 100 are doing a over rev which it shouldn’t be doing but again many others are fine. I plan to do more testing but I also bought the warranty and may swap it out.

no real warranty cause they are made in communist china from cheap communist china export junk. no they just want you to buy another unit when the first, second, third, forth, etc fail. buy then you have paid more than a very reliable honda unit. that you can buy things like filters and spark plugs for. honda's must be chained and bolted down, as like assault weapons, they can walk away on there own. and the honda units are much quieter than any of the "other" brands. these communist chinese made harbor freight units must be in a enclosed box to get down to the dbi required in ALL national parks. honda's can be in the open. but it is good they are including a rv plug on them.

Another great video. I'd like to see a comparison between this one and the Champion 5500 dual fuel. I've had some reliability issues with the Predators and spending the extra $ for extended warranties can become an issue after using the warranty the first time. The Champion comes standard with a 3yr warranty and is priced at $1099.00 at Cabela's. I agree that Predator put some thought into the layout and maintenance for this one. Time will tell and I hope they've improved the display monitor. Happy camping and testing and thanks for another great & informative video Johnny.

I agree. The Champion 4650 is the closest competitor to the Predator 5000. I don't consider the extra starting watts on the Predator 5000 or even the Champion 5500 to really matter, since 4650 watts (30A @ 120VAC) is the absolute maximum that the 30A line can handle. I suppose you could have the 30A socket tied into your RV or home's transfer box, plus a couple items plugged into the 5-15 outlets...but I am not sure many people run their generators like that.

Looks like a very nice upgrade. Great work as always. I love the serviceability especially the pilot jet! On that note I have never ending crap with that particular part. Do you think Lucas fuel stabilizer works better than sea foam or sta-bil. I don't want to start a whole thing with comments but I do everything by the book and that still clogs once in a while. I don't have this generator but I think the problem is universal. They say get ethanol free gas. I live in NYC. That isn't an option unless I drive really far away with a car full of 25 gallons of gas. I need the city stuck with ethanol best stabilizer.

  • @johnnysweekends

I have had a great luck with the Lucas products and I did seafoam for a few years and honestly I think this is better. If you are always having problems it could be the gas station is pumping dirty fuel. Or maybe there is debris in your gas can. I would check the can and see and then maybe that will give a idea and then maybe a different gas station. I don’t use ethanol free as it’s $8.50 a gallon. Not worth it.

Power was out for about 16 hours. My main complaints would be they could have included a small bottle of oil and the stickers on the top curled up and came off the first day of it running out in the sun. There was also an e clip missing on one of the side door knobs and I have requested a replacement. Yes I know I can just go pick one up but it's a good test of their customer service I think. They still worked great just didn't want to find out if they would last. Ended up with (3) 2000's instead and like the redundancy. Fuel/oil changes can be done one at a time without interrupting power. Plus they use less fuel and I can use 1, 2, or 3 at a time depending on load/fuel conservation needs.

For an extra $50, they could install a 240V/30A outlet to plug into a house, to run both sides of the household electric panel. I have a small 3500 watt Duromax (12 years old) that has that capability. Extremely noisy, but quite capable. Would love to see HF add that to this unit. If they did, this unit would be a home run. Only time we lose power is during a coastal storm, and the municipality shuts the grid down to protect the energized electric panels in the basements from getting flooded. Neither myself nor my neighbors care about noise of generators, as we care more about each others houses. Pumps & more pumps working are a must. I do have multiple lithium battery banks to power the house at night, but yes a small quieter inverter with a 30A/240V option would be nice. Or even the ability to run two small decently priced inverters in parallel with 30A/240V would be a good option.

They are already obsolete. Several manufacturers are now selling Trifuel inverters (include NG) which is really the best option because then you don't have to go to the store to get Propane or Gasoline. You just hook a hose to your house natural gas line. I had two hookups installed for my BBQ that can be used for this so now I have a backup for my Generac whole house generator (they are not very reliable).

  • @johnnysweekends

    @johnnysweekends

    11 ай бұрын

Not even sure what you are talking about but any dual fuel can be made Tri fuel pretty easy. Some take a pinch more work. Many use propane over NG just due to the poor amount of power NG provides. It’s actually bad, real bad the power loss for NG. So your gen just has to work even harder to provide the same power and burn way more NG than propane. You are mainly talking a home back up. Not everyone needs that. Hence they make several different types of units. NG generators also do not last as long as lpg or a gasoline generator. They have the lowest service hours of all. So all pros and cons. So not obsolete what so ever

5:20 A good practice is to only use Ethanol free fuel in power equipment. It reduces the likelihood of fuel related problems.

Not always a option though for many. I have one station now and its $9 a gallon 🙄. So not worth it when Lucas has served me well for over 15 years. Also just dont let things sit for ever and you’ll be fine. Wish ethanol free was easier and cheaper to get, but it just gets worse as time goes on…😐

@@johnnysweekends yep. I read a few more comments after I posted mine and saw that for some people, ethanol free is no where near them. In the PNW, a few stations actually have it at every pump, which is overkill. It’s been running about 80 cents more then 87 octane unleaded

How many things can I use at one time ,need to know how many amps it produces so I can determine what I can use before it shuts down
