@@BoxedMeeples Islebound is on my wishlist as well. Roam was my first Red Raven game, as I was entranced by the art style and had to see what it was about. We still play that one and Artifacts Inc often for weeknight after-dinner games.

Thanks for sharing your game haul! I love seeing people showing off their new goodies. I’ve played Solenia and it’s fantastic. Black Angel used the similar “board-moving” mechanic, but it don’t have the wow factor I felt with Solenia. Have fun playing your new acquisitions and I’m looking forward to your videos about them

@@BoxedMeeples off topic, but similar...have you come across the Uncharted game based on the video game? That one is fun and a bit of a hidden gem I think!

@@eVanDiesel I'm not sure how hidden Uncharted is there's even a film based on it. I used to write video game articles for websites and even a few books on them. Uncharted 2 is one of my favourite games ever. Kitty got wet.

I love the Stardew Valley video game. You mentioned Animal Crossing, and I think that series is just kinda “ok.” I had it on GameCube and the best part was finding classic games that you could play in-game. Animal crossing is a game that lacks character development and external motivators to complete things. Stardew Valley has a few things that motivate you to optimize your gameplay to ensure you get everything you want to get done during a daily time limit, and the characters are really interesting. So despite them seeming like similar games, I think they’re pretty different. Some folks like both, but some adamantly prefer one to the other. Some people find Stardew Valley stressful, and therefore prefer AC. I find Stardew Valley extremely relaxing, so different strokes for different folks!

Yes Julian has played Stardew Valley for over 100 hours. His daughters however has spent just as long playing Animal Crossing! Some of the sublots in Stardew Valley (the video game) were incredibly moving and adult . We are very keen to see how the video game translates into this board game.

@@BoxedMeeples yeah, surprisingly I spent at least 50 hours playing AC on Switch. But it’s interesting to see how different they really are from each other. I was fascinated to find out how stressful some folks found Stardew Valley to be, as it is definitely one of my go to relaxation games… but I think for a tabletop gamer, Stardew Valley would never be stressful.

Coral Islands was the second game I ever backed on Kickstarter (in 2019) and I have still never played it. It's literally been on my shelf for years and I have never heard another person mention it before this. I even looked for it at the Alleycat Games booth/section at UKGE 2022 and couldn't see it mentioned or available at all. I will have to get it out and finally try it.

Julian had never heard of it but saw it on BackerKit when paying postage for eternal palace. Worth £8 certainly. Which of the two games do you prefer ?

We enjoy Bitoku very much. Thanks to your channel We finally got Yedo….very excited to learn and play. We are working on Learning and playing Ark this week.

We are so pleased you are exited to learn Yedo, hope you love it as much we do. We are enjoying mixing in the clan powers and tea ceremony bits along with changing the mission types to give variability. Let us know if you have any rules questions. Hoping to learn Ark this week too and get Bitoku back to the table asap now we have the insert to cut down the time - think that one may have a chance to make our top 20 games come the end of the year .... we will see. Any suggestions you have for us to try?

My GF got Wild Serengeti and we really enjoyed it. It's a cute, fun game with nice components. It's never going to be one we get out all the time but certainly one we have enjoyed so far. She liked the solo mode quite a lot as well.

Since playing this we have had a play and really enjoyed it. It's now permanently set up in our gaming coffee table ready to play again. It looks so beautiful it's a piece of Board game art !

Interested to hear your opinions on The Everrain once you have played it. I managed to pick up the full Seafarer pledge (sealed) from the UKGE Bring & Buy and from an aesthetic point it looks amazing. Also, Solenia is amazing; it's the best part of Black Angel distilled into it's own game.

@@Qyro as you may have seen in our vlogs from the expo, the cash only requirement certainly limited what we could by (perhaps luckily considering how much we bought)

Rising Sun is my favourite game. I hope you'll love it as much as I do. If you wanna increase complexity in a good way, add the Kami Unbound expansion to it :)

@@BoxedMeeples Probably 4 so everyone has a chance to be in an alliance. 3--5 works well tho as the "Betray" mandate is really good and won't punish those who couldn't ally. The game is streamlined and balanced but it's not easy to master so be prepared that the first play might not be your best experience with the game. Hopefully if you are all new to the game this won't apply and you can learn it together through mistakes. Btw there is a pretty good 2 player mode on bgg if you can't get enough of it ;D

@@Cryptandos thanks we will have to look into that. Be good to get to know the game a few times with 2 before we teach it to others! Did you get sundrop on your minis ? Do you have any others in the series ?

@@BoxedMeeples i didn't paint it yet cos I'm afraid of ruining it 😅 the map has pretty pastel colours so I don't want too vivid looking monsters on it. A simple wash wouldn't hurt tho. I played all 3 in the series and RS is my 1# cos I think it's the most strategic brain game, Ankh would be my 2# because it approaches area control in a very unique way. BR is my 3# but it's probably the most approachable of the trilogy so I get why it's the most popular. RS and Ankh can be brutal if you play with more experienced players.
