BIG ZANDER Fishing with Deadbaits - TAFishing

Спорт

Graeme & Mike Pullen go on the hunt for Zander using Deadbaits. The bait they use is dead roach and they use a PVA mesh bag to help improve the chances of catching. Simple one hook rigs, simple leger rig set up with barbel rods.

    Great vid guys and congrats on some class fish, Mike. It's refreshing to see a decent take on zander fishing cos there seems to be a myth in the UK that you just use scaled down pike rigs, which is nonsense. Finicky cannot be emphasised enough and small baits and single hooks definitely the way to go. It's quite typical of zander to come right in close at night, "driving" the prey fish into the margins. And Mike, as a dropshot lover, try it for Zander, it a killer method!

    Pick a mild night I hear that's the best conditions,apparently they don't like a cold snap,whereas Pike don't mind the cold.That's what I'm told anyway. Keep your eyes peeled for another Zander film from us coming soon.

    I live in Holland and we always catch zander jigging on the rivers with shads, but I think that jigging would work at lakes as well, so maybe this is an idea.

    I use singles and trebles (but rarely two)) depending on situation. If you used adequate bite indication and braid you would find a single treble hook in no way problematic. Plus 12 lb but line isn't in any way strong enough unless you want to leave your bait tethered to a snag. Braid will bend the hook straight. Floats, quiver or delkims are your top choices. Roller buzzers ain't up to zeds

    Can you use live bait in Britain? Over here in the US out related Walleye are often targeted with 4-6" baitfish

  • @TAFishing

    Some places allow live bait,but it has to be from the same water you are predator fishing.You cannot transport live fish from different waters.It is a restriction aimed at preventing the spread of fish diseases.

  • @bobbob-es3cp

    I reckon they would. They are similar but the Zander is bigger than the Walleye I believe

  • @lukkyluciano

    @lukkyluciano

    8 жыл бұрын

    yeah they do get bigger. But I think if people didnt like the taste of walleye so much and they had similar conditions as Zander do in Europe with out many predators they may get to the same size. A lot of walleye get brought home and then up north a lot of the walleye waters are infested with pike and musky that eat them. Especially in like the Wisconsin USA, Manitoba Canada area. I went on a trip up there to a fish camp in Saskatchewan and it was so easy to catch pike and hard to catch walleye, where I live it's the opposite, walleye are everywhere and pike & musky are kind of rare so it was a fun trip.

    anyway we use jig and grub(chartreuse where I live works best) usually for lure fishing and minnows/shiners for live bait fishing. We dont use deadbaits for anything really but catfish. I caught a bowfin one time on a dead bluegill while fishing for flathead catfish
