    The tip about fishing in the same spot after you have caught one fish already really works. I went fishing one day with deadbaits and cast into a spot and caught a 6lb pike, unhooked it and cast into the exact same spot and no word of a lie I pulled out a 20lb + pike. It's my PB :)

    Hi Graeme, just discovered your channel. Thanks. One tip on pike fishing worth a mention, especially with big pike, is that they're the ONLY coarse fish to thrash and shake their heads on the surface. They're unique in this respect. I've caught hundreds of pike, many well over 20lbs, so write from years of (sometimes bitter!) experience. When a pike is almost beaten and surfacing this is without doubt the most dangerous time to lose it. This is the stage where they are most likely to throw the hook (I wholly agree on a single small treble by the way) or worse, saw through the trace and be lost. This then leaves a badly injured fish with gear in it's throat. Always be ready to drop the rod tip immediately, keep the fish low in the water, then draw it from depth over the net.😇

    Hi Graeme/Mike, I have a question if i may. I purchased a Tronixpro casting float weighted at 40 grams. It doesnt come with any instructions, however Tronixpro state on their website that it works great with a Washing Line setup. Could you please tell me and indeed perhaps other viewers what this is and do you have any other ideas on how best to use this type of float. Myself being a beginner its a bit of a head scratcher. Thanks guys in advance if you have the time to respond. Fabulous channel even if you dont reply. Cheers Steve in Fife.

    +Stevie D Have no idea about that one.I did see a weird surface fishing float with a long arm to it.It took three carp guys ten minutes trying to fathom out how it worked.Maybe it was that one.All I know is I outfished the weird float/lever thing by about 8 to 1 using just a single biscuit freelined on a hook.I won't be buying any floats until I see they outfish me or at least put me in a better position to catch fish. You could always try a cheap,plain bubble float .

    Graeme why do you lip hook live bait, and not the old - school way through the top of the Dorsal fin ,Does it make the fish swim better by hooking them like it. I can understand the fish will live longer by hooking it through the lip, its just when the pike is turning the fish to swallow that means the hook will be further down it's throat and become deep hooked . dave

    I'm gonna try using deadbaits next season for walleye(like a zander), sauger/saugeye(also similar to zander/walleye) and pike&muskie. In the US we dont use deadbaits unless we are fishing for catfish and a few other species like bowfin or gar. I'm not sure it will work but I'm gonna try it. People in UK catch tons of pike, zander, etc on dead baits.They even use stuff pike dont have access to in their water. i.e. squid and mackerel. What other species in the UK will take deadbait? Will European perch eat deadbaits?

    @@TAFishing Good to hear it. Out of interest though - and I understand the purpose of soundtrack music, but why do so many, so it's not just your Totally Awful Music, but loads of very good fishing video makers spoiling the shows with really irritating music/sounds? No need to answer that one, I guess it's rhetorical, but what has the calm and peaceful pastime of fishing got to do with boring synthetic pop rock music? Anyway - rant over. In 2011 they banned using live bait fish altogether here in Sweden, they ruled that fish can feel pain just as any other animals and thus are included in the Swedish Animal Welfare Act. If you catch a fish you intended to keep you must kill it instantly with a hit on the head, even pushing its head back to break is neck is illegal because that doesn´t kill the fish fast enough apparently. It´s all a bit strange I think and the "science" it´s based on seems a bit loose, but I don´t really care all that much, never fished with live bait fish, or live bait at all for that matter, so it didn´t really impact me.

  • @TAFishing

    @TAFishing

    8 жыл бұрын

    +eldsprutandedrake I have heard about that, went to Sweden last Easter. Doesn't make sense really, they 'ban' livebaiting because the fish feel pain, yet you're allowed to rip a lure into its mouth, pull it all over the place and chuck it back? Kind of contradictory to be honest! But there are laws here in the UK for live baiting here too, as Graeme explained, it's generally down to the fishery rules that you fish. Mike

    don't seem right, live baiting. surely the live bait fish is suffering. seems quite clear to me. it's 'not on' in my opinion. So you take care with pike, carefully looking after it's health. What about the health of the fish you using for bait. just saying

    You are entitled to your opinion John. However, If you don't like live baiting, you could always just not watch the video to save you going through the stress of it all? At the end of the day, you are putting a hook through a Pikes mouth, pulling it around in the water then pulling it up on the bank. Whilst we do care for the safety of the Pike, you are also putting it through stress. Seems odd that you are ok with doing that, but then not ok with lip hooking a small fish? As Graeme stated in the video, this is the natural bait that Pike, Catfish and Zander are eating all of the time. Perhaps it might be better for you to not go fishing at all? That way you have no worry about harming or causing stress to fish? Regards, Mike
