Great bike, I have the same RH4 running in 170/160 mode. I opted to get full reach by keeping my stem in lowest position with 50mm bars, probably nets out about the same as your stack + works headset. I think the t-type just shifts delayed and not to do with timing. The delay is consistent. If it was related to timing it would be inconsistent. Quite annoying since og axs didn't do this.

I got the Canyon Torque ON mullet with the same motor, i ride bike park and as much crazy DH singletrack out west here in the US the mullet is indispensable for railing turns, just that little bit of extra 1.5 inches of clearance in the steeps. I switched out the Maxxis EVO with DH casings, tubeless and Cushcore because it never fails I get flats with tubes. I got the oversized battery and have never ran out even on 30 plus mile epic rides at altitude, at 57 years young it makes those rides doable and still ride the next day! Love it!

I shall make some comments here folk might seem odd! Firstly I love the idea of long travel. My Trek Rail 5 is 160/150 but sometimes descending rough stuff I feel a bit 'rattled'. 29 all round is my only option. Mullet gonna mean less effective 'roll over' and I don't require 'lively' handling at age 69! I prefer a shiny finish, easier to clean. The controller and display locations mean I couldn't fit a top and frame bag. OK they don't hold much but I do keep my phone, locks and some tools in there. Less to carry on my back! Emtb's have virtually no facilities for storage, which is needed on long trips, so it all goes on your back! I'd like to see availability of 2.8" tyres too. 2.6 are good but I reckon 2.8 would be even better on loose and lumpy! I do run Tannus Armour inserts which enable lower pressures and add puncture protection. Minus marks for the silly price too and querying the future of the derailleur.

I have and love this bike. But I hate the motor rattle. Also, I’m in-between size RH2 and 3 (went with the 2) and wish the reach was a bit longer w/o needing the different headset since I don’t want to mess with the geo. Otherwise, bike is perfect.

Looks like a fantastic bike, great content and thorough explanation as per usual thanks! Question for you, I suffer pretty bad with wrist pain after rides. To combat/ease this I thought that maybe increase my lyrik ultimate from 160mm to 180mm and reduce the spring pressure from my current 115 psi (Rider and pack weight approx 235lbs) in order to maintain the bikes geometry whilst reducing impact on my wrists. Could you tell me what might be detrimental to my bikes performance if I carry out this mod?

I can see the thing about long travel but, IMO if a high percentage of your riding doesn't happen in rough terrain, 140 mm of travel and 29" wheels is the perfect ride.

I get the appeal of an E-Bike. What I don't like about the current battery location, it being on the downtube makes the weight distribution too far forward. Id like to see the battery design and engineering place it more to the rear, center, or seat tube to even out or lower the center of gravity.

here's a real one for ya...so this Crestline build here is 52-54lb's, properly built. How much different would a 10lb lighter (~43lb) 'properly built' emtb feel? I've heard guys explain a nearly unridable feeling from any Eeb that's 50+ pounds. That it just bogs down so incredibly hard and is so clunky and chunky. Other folks say there's no point of riding a 'half power' emtb, might as well have a regular mtb. Your thoughts? The new Kenevo2 has got me curious (~42lbs)

We need those solid state batteries. The bike weights are mental these days, even the full carbon non motor variety are 10lbs over what they used to be. (Used to rock a gary fisher cake 3 deluxe, 150/160 travel and 21lbs with all the extras bolted on, steel downtube protector made from an oldvpc case, double bashring, various other bits. it could do 8ft to flat without breaking the frame. 1998-ish) if only gary had put the bottom bracket on straight it would have been perfect 😂 Honestly im confised by the path ultralight carbon took to being overweight 🫤
