How do you even write a song like this? With that melody? Over those chords? And the lyrics? I can't wrap my head around this.

Sorry but this is essentially the best song I've heard in like 7 years. Life's been so tough on me recently and I can see my goals in sight. But it could be how exhausted I am right now, but this song came on my Spotify radio and I listened to the lyrics and just fucking broke down. Definitely a new fan. Thanks for this, I needed it.

Matthew, please do not regret With your silk in my hand And your heart in my sweat as you're Lighting the end of my last cigarette I will warm you Warm you These things that lonely ones do Baby that's what I'm here for I'll take care and make all your Wishes come true If you want to Do you want to? Don't take me for a fool There's a woman inside of me There's one inside of you, too There is an eating in my thighs Wherein thunder and lighting Men are baptized in their anger and fighting Their deceit and lies I've got lips like sugar Lips like sugar Holding my wrist to the bed He was thrusting and moaning And pressing his head To my temple His head was a temple I said you've got lips like sugar, daddy Lips like sugar Don't take me for a fool There's a woman inside of me There's one inside of you, too And she don't always do Pretty things

I think it's a depiction of two lonely people having a sexual encounter. The song is spent with the narrator painting a very seductive picture of not only herself but the scene- promises to make Matthew's wishes come true, of a place between her thighs which once entered may even be transformative! miss girl is promising life-changing coochie. She's not just some girl with a crush either. She's aware that she wants this because she craves connection and that Matthew seems like he needs it too. She ends the song by clarifying that for all the seduction and tenderness she is capable of, the "woman" inside her doesn't always do "pretty things" and because she asserts that Matthew's got a "woman" in him too he's guilty of the same. The song is about two flawed individuals getting wrapped up in an intimate fling isolated from the less flowery truth of who they are implied to be outside of it. that's just me tho 🤷🏾‍♀

David the baby in the photo is Adrianne Lenker, the person holding her is her uncle who strongly resembles her. It reminds me of their Mythological Beauty song, "there's a child inside of you trying to raise the child in me." I love the cover.

And what was their worst song on their last album? Ive juat begun listening to this album and I think both are just different pieces you really have to sink into to truly appreciate. Her gut wrenching honesty and vulnerability isnt to be skimmed over.
