BIG SURPRISE FOR BRET! Philippines Beach Home Living (Cebuano Visitors)
I HAVE A BIG SURPRISE FOR BRET...
In this Philippines beach home video, we start with our new pet duck. "Patopie" is already becoming a smash hit at our beach house. We all love her, and are stoked on her vibes. Speaking of vibes, we have some Cebuano visitors right now at our place... and it is fun talking through some language. You will see a little bit of barkada chit chat at the house in the morning!
From the beach home in Cateel... Bret and myself head over to Baganga and take a dip in the hot spring. Good thing Bret wanted to head into town, as it gave me the opportunity to check out a local barangay and see if I could find a giant lobster! Yup, Davao Oriental has some great seafood... you just need to know where to find it. I FOUND IT! One big fresh lobster surprise for Bret!!
Philippines beach home life continues...
Cebuano, Filipino, Canadian...
POSITIVE VIBES!

Hello Bitbit and Kulas!
something to look forward on brets table. such a good friend.
Wow lobster!!! Bret is happy, Kulas is happy too. Nice bonding. God bless to both of you.
"Sibuyas" (from Spanish "Cebollas) refers to two things: "[Sibuyas] Bombay" actually refers to the bulb (because it resembles the turbans of Sikh immigrants, the name only arose in the colonial period, obviously). "Sibuyas Dahon" on the other hand, refers to the leaves, which in English would be called "spring onions" or "scallions". Onions and garlic are native to Southeast Asia. In pre-colonial times, both were called "bawang" (and still are in Malaysia and Indonesia), just differentiated by their color ("pula" and "puti").

@@rikz95mm40 Same thing. Just dialectal differences. They both mean "Onion leaves"
I wish i can meet you guys one day. Been missing the philippines. I watch all of your vlogs brets vlogs kumander daots and boy perstaym. Next fighter boys if there is one in the future please include boy perstaym and the kumander. Been addicted to the good vibes from you and the gang. Keep rocking and stay positive thank you.
The comment @ 6:20 about Cebuano having “hard” inflection reminded me of why Tagalog speakers in Manila where I lived and worked for 11 years spanning 1983-2001 would tell me that Cebuanos were rude. Adding to that perception is the fact that Cebuanos shorten phrases like greetings (Kumusta ka na?) to “Kumusta ka?” which by comparison sounds very curt. I now hear mostly Cebuano because my wife of 25 years is from Mactan and listening to her talking on the phone with relatives in Cebuano is like two dueling machine guns compared to a conversation in Tagalog. 😂 At work the Filipino staff all spoke pretty good English so I never got language training or became fluent in Tagalog but can usually follow most conversations and learned use some Filipino mannerisms like pointing with my lips. I’d have great fun when back in the states encountering Filipinos in the shopping malls speaking Tagalog. I’d walk behind them and go “psst, psst…” and all the heads would turn looking for who said it. I’d react by looking around too before saying hello. 😂😂.
Kulas #BecomingKuya to Bret is always an awesome sight to see.
I am a very proud Bisaya! Ur telling the truth - we do a lot of shortened words, lazy kami!
Very thoughtful of you Kyle for giving Bret that beautiful lobster 🦞 a true friend. Good another first for Bret in the Philippines. God bless you guys always.

Brett's face..
you are such a lucky guy Bret for having such a sincere friend like Kulas...
so good to see how good friends treat each other seeing the smiling faces sends good vibes
So happy 😊 to see that finally Duck is free with that string but then again it made me sad 😢 to hear you saying Duck will end up in the wok one day.
Kulas, i don't how bombay is used down there in davao but in the visayas we usually refer to the onion bulb as sibuyas bombay and the leeks/green onions as sibuyas dahon
Love this vlog Kulas! You’re a real Kuya to Bret Maverick. The lobster surprise is so sweet ❤
That’s really sweet of you kulas.. you guys makes me feel I’m home. Seems like bret wants to make the lobster as his pet. Another one after patopie. 😅 will be waiting for the extraordinary culinary skill of Bret on his next vlog , how to cook “LOVEster”
Kulas, I'm so impressed by the way you're able to keep all the different languages and dialects sorted out in your head. It's a wonder you don't mix them up into a halo halo of Filipino language. Astig, brad! Kumar showing some serious ninja moves when catching Patopay!🦆
what a sweet way of telling your friend to stop craving durian 🤣
Nice surprise for Bret. Tha smile on his face, that is gratitude. 👍🏽 I like how you incorporated music in certain sections of your vlog. There is that “feel good,” moment. It sets the mood of your viewers. 👌🏼Thank you and Power On!
Friendship goals!🙌🦞 Food definitely brings friends and cultures together. 🍲🇨🇦🇵🇭
Kulas you specializes on travel blogging coz you are very good in describing places including its histories while Bret specializes on food vlogging coz of how he transforms taste into expression of delightfulness of the food.
Kulas is the best friend ever.....
Kyle, you are more better than to speak bisaya compare to some Filipinos. Some can't speak bisaya and I think you're a good teacher too☺️☺️. You are so amazing.. Keep it up. God bless. Power On.
You really a good friend Kyle 👍❤️🎄🎅 giving that lobster to Bret's Table is a proof how you care for him and the gang 😀💙 we will for his show soon 👍💚
That gift of a lobster to Bret is what friends are all about. Can’t wait to see how he prepares it!
DINAGYANG OF ILOILO LAST SUNDAY OF WEEK OF JANUARY IS THE BEST TO SEE AND EXPERIENCE.
Sibuyas is bisaya for onions. So with the different varieties of onions you can say, Sibuyas bombay - red onions Sibuyas puti - yellow or white onions Sibuyas dahonan - spring onions
Arroz caldo (literally rice chicken) belongs to porridges. Also called pospas by Cebuano.
Nice kubo house...u all guys are so cool...🤣😀
This here is Friendship, in every sense of the word - Fun, genuine, with lots of laughter, humor, rawness, and of course ❤️. It's CDO all over again. Well, happier pa nga kase walang lockdown 😊. Be safe po, lahat kayo.

bret's bike is so awesome.
Hi guys everyone looks so relaxed even the little puppy relaxing in hammock cute
I am jealous Kulas sigi sadya sa imu balay....thank you for taking care of your little brother Bret...
Sibuyas generally means onion, in both tagalog and bisaya. Sibuyas bombay refers to the red onion variety. Because of laziness in speaking the bisaya dialect, most cut off the word sibuyas and simply say 'bombay'. Sibuyas dahon refers to shallots with the long green tube "leaves", thus the term dahon. 😊

Agreed. That’s what we call in my dialect of Minasbate growing up in Masbate 😊

Correct! I was born in Cebu. "Bombay" refers to the red onion which was first grown in West Pakistan. In the PH anything or anyone from India or Hindu is called "Bombay" (almost sounds derogatory to me) referring to Bombay, the city of India which is now Mumbai. Sibuyas is still the proper term.
From tarzan boy to durian boy and now the lobster boy.
I really love your group.. your videos are all awesome.. relaxing.. i love all your content.. fun, adventure and more.. ..more more videos everday please.. An one thing more.. adding the amazing nature... oooooohhhh.. i love you kulas😍😍🤣 God bless you always..

I really enjoy these home vlogs and with bret back, its like therapeutic watching this for me. And i love Bret's table episodes, i started learning how to cook because of it during the lock down.
Maayong gabii! Colder, fine drizzle days are here. Maayong Pasko sa tanan!!!
Hot spring and the rain. PERFECT
I guess kabo is an old word for dipper. When the GI Joes came, they brought canned goods. The locals empty the cans and make it into a kabo. Haha, what about salmon, the unit of measure. "Isa ka salmon nga lemonsito palihug!" Salmon is a canned fish and the can is again used. Very interesting and colorful stories of our past. : Goood night!
can't wait to see bret table cooking lobster 😁
,that is friendship..bret is so happy ♥️👏
Galing mo Kumar manghuli ng duck.
Tuara! Hahaha! Yes, we abridge some terms. :P Sakto kaayo akong ingon na tapolan. Hahaha!!!
Di ba, sa? Saying "di ba" more like confirming it from what you already knew then from that someone. When "sa" is added at the end... that's for making it solidly sure. ;) Hehe
What I know in Barangays, they have chapels, and that under the Town Parish Church- Parish Priest. And Parishes under the Diocese.....

Becoming a Filipino and knowing some dialects and cultures are such inspiring as a Filipino also for other foreigns to be willing to live as a Filipino. Keep on be humble to others and enjoy everyday with your vlogs. Thank you for help and supporting our locals and co-filipinos. God bless and hoping to meet you soon in person. Happy lang 😊 Hans from Abu Dhabi/UAE
Nice to see you guys having fun, what a lovely scene ❤️ Dialects in the Philippines are so confusing & it’s very hard to master all of them😁
Lobster 🦞& lugaw🤤😋, good friend😇🙏🤩
I can see how much Kyle is taking care of Bret.
Dude that’s big lobster!! Let’s see some nice recipe on Bret’s table ❤❤❤
Pagka buotan ni Kulas oi.. Usa ka maayong amigo😊
They're both sibuyas in bisaya. The bulb is sibuyas bombay, the scallion is sibuyas dahonan.
Life is beautiful ❤…
Wow! You guys are lucky to have access and enjoy the hot spring water in your area. 👏👏👏
I'm excited to watch Bret's table soon on how he's gonna cook that Banagan (Lobster in English).
I hope to see Junjun again in your vlogs, he's back in the PH, sana bumisita sya dyan.
Nice one Kyle ,Bret was gobsmacked you gave him Lobster 👍☺
Hi Kyle, I second on Angry Kittens explanation on sibuyas🙂...it's true, sibuyas bombay are the kind of onion bulbs, (whatever color it is)..and sibuyas dahon refers to spring onions or escallions. Sibuyas pa more😄
Grabe ang kalipay ni Bitbit brad😁
I really like your tandem ..kulas and bret ♥.
Cute doggy Lumpia 🤗😁
Next on Brets Table - Lobster cook in coconut milk!! Let's Go!! Lami kaayo! Ayo2 Kulas 🤙
After work chill, thanks for the daily good vibes bro!
Love your vedios kuya Kulas! so with kuya Bret. ❤️😍
Onion in English, cebolla in Spanish, sibuyas in Tagalog. When we were small, the Philippines used to import from India (whichs is well-known to Filipinos as Bumbay for Bombay) a variety of very small red onions. My grandma would tell us to buy sibuyas bumbay referring to red onions. The Filipino onion farmers grow them now but the name stuck. About the lugaw, it's rice porridge. It's a snackie but sometimes when we're under the weather, my mom would cook us rice porridge, I guess its equivalent in the West is chicken noodle soup. Here's wishing you all all the best!

Beautiful banagan - out of sight colors! Never seen it before and I've seen some. Had to chuckle when you asked if it was still buhi iced up - it if were, it would've been a new artic specie. 🙂
