@@Scofari Not necessarily, but if you're doing this as "tickling" you still have to be quick to pull out, and it saves the outer ends of the hinge that does the most to control the direction of fall.

Pittsburgher here, not that anyone wants this, but I may be able to shed some light on that creepy picture: Every summer at the David Lawrence convention center downtown there is a giant event called 'Anthrocon' where people dress up like animals (Furries) and have a giant 'party' of sorts. That photo looks like it could definately be from the event. I guess people come from all over for this, they basically overrun our streets and hotels for a week :-/

Can’t believe no one replied. Checking if the cut is complete. No “dutchmen” that broke from the wedge itself. They can cause the tree to not fall exactly as you plan. Also checking for an over cut, meaning the two cuts didn’t meet perfectly.

Depends what you're doing...if it's for a company or on your own. In the Pacific northwest region of America, you make decent money as am arborist. Generally $20-$25/hr is a starting wage and it goes up from there with your knowledge and experience. A climbing arborist generally starting wage is around $32-35/hr but that's for a big company. In my experience some small companies pay better, some don't it can vary wildly.
