Maybe I could have said, "Yes thanks. Maybe all you noisy people from different households not socially distancing can stop while I get my keepnet out and show you, while we block the cyclist and your dog continues to trample over all my expensive fishing and camera gear!" 😂

I'm damn proud & impressed with your catch of "wild" canal, caster caught roach Jon! .... it takes a proper angler to catch 5lb of those in 3hours! .... it's far more admirable, than catching 50lb of "silly dopey fish" on an overstocked commercial, by an angler who'd probably dry net on a challenging canal 😉 .... I'm probably gonna get hater, stalker, violence threats for saying that 😨 lol ❤

Fantastic net of roach. You only get that kind of fishing on natural waters, without F1s to beat them to every bait and with a few pike to thin down the sprats. It's amazing how good canals can be nowadays.

High there Jon. I'm new to your channel and I like that you fish canals and recently, I watched some of your canal sessions. I noticed instant that the colours you had on and in you're hands I'd never seen before!! Curiosity got me and now I've bought a full new pole out fit and box + other gear, all by fox matrix!!! All I can really say is thanks to you,,,,, I think I might be onto a winner. Up there with drennan,maver,map and browning if not miles ahead!! It’s always interesting when you get bank walkers say “Have you caught anything”. If they say “Are you bagging or “Are you getting them”?That you know within the first sentence whether their fellow Anglers or not!😇

Wonderful net of quality roach, our local canal has some nice roach but the nearside bank is full of bushes so you cannot see the bikes coming along so many guys in our club have had their poles smashed with no chance of a comeback from the bikers, don’t mind the dogs so much if their owners would only clear up after them.! Keep em coming John all great quality.

On the canals down south, always use to find chopping a few casters in with the worms just for the first put in, always seemed to make a difference in the time it took to get some fish in the swim

Your u tube video are all ways full great information and my they continue just quick question on a canel that is constantly moving one way then the other would you fish a moving bait or try to hold it back any feedback would be helpfull
@JonArthur
3 жыл бұрын
Try both. Generally going much further overdepth and slowing it down is best with bigger baits. With squatts, bread and pinkies you can sometimes just run it at the fish. It's always difficult when it's going back and forth though.
Awesome jon What canal were you fishing?

Loving the blunt short answer to the passer by.....yes thanks!! 😁 What pole bungs do you use? And how many sizes do you have in the range

I use winder-style bungs and chop down to fit, although I also use side pull kits a lot too. They are just as useful for silverfish and natural waters.

Cracking Rutilus Rutilus.
Great net of red fins Jon. I’ve never had any joy with caster on the canal. Do you fish it over depth or dead depth? Cheers
@JonArthur
3 жыл бұрын
Almost always a bit overdepth on the canal, anything from 2-6in
Just wondering Jon, when shipping back you seem to be putting your pole really high, are you shipping into a tree or a really high roller? thanks, Tom (also, good stretch that, where I started)
@JonArthur
3 жыл бұрын
No roller, just a skid bung and high through the hedge.
What protector have you got fitted to the Butt section of your pole John ???
like your videos especially your match fishing ones.the music can you tell me who is the artist in this video thanks
Ace video as always jon just a shame about the dog walkers with dogs not on a lead I bet there's signs saying all dogs on a lead too
@JonArthur
3 жыл бұрын
There shouldn't need to be any signs. It was clear to see me from a very long way away in both directions and a considerate person would have had the courtesy to keep a pet on a lead and under control, but that's life I suppose :-(
Hi Jon, can I ask how far overdepth you normally fish with worms and casters?Thanks for the video
@JonArthur
3 жыл бұрын
2-3in to begin with, increasing to 4-6in if it's towing or if the fish are particularly cagey.

@@JonArthur great, thank you for the reply
You obviously enjoy natural venues and commercials but if you had a choice and could only fish one or the other,what would you choose? I think that both disciplines are as different as Football and Rugby and you definitely need two sets of bespoke kit. What are your thoughts on this Jon?
@JonArthur
2 жыл бұрын
I couldn't just fish one type of venue as I enjoy doing all sorts of fishing. Anywhere I can float fish if I had to choose, but luckily I have lots of variety to keep me happy!
Was that dog called Oscar?

hi Jon love watching your videos, i have a question never pole fished i have been given a 14.5 meter maver reality pole i want to buy some top kits do any top kits fit and would you suggest ones with a side puller the top kit i have dosnt have one
@JonArthur
3 жыл бұрын
You can get universal kits but I would always go for the kist designed for your pole, so you need to contact Maver or a Maver stockist. Side pullers are a definite advantage on stillwaters, but you can also use pull bungs if you don't have them.
Oscar ,,,,,OSCAR
