    Some of my earliest memories are with my old man in the truck I’d kill just to be in the truck with my dad once more. People say oh nothing to it just driving but it’s not just driving a lot more to it then you’d think

    A friend of mine and his wife are in their truck damn near 24/7. He got her an instapot and they love it. It's not that big, so it doesn't take up too much of their limited space, it has a tight seal so no splashing or spills, and it cooks fast, can be used to saute and to cook. You can do anything in this thing. You can do one pot spaghetti with the sauce, the meat, everything... like 10 mins. They got me hooked on it too!

    Oh and I forgot to say it takes the place of a lot of things: rice cooker, pots/pans, hot plate, crock pot (it can work as a crock pot too). He has some kinda power set up that runs off a battery. I'm sorry, but I don't have any clue how that works.

    I am a retired Conductor for Norfolk-Southern railroad, I use to cook full meals on the engine block of the engine, the engine's would give off High heat and you could cook a full meal in heat resistant containers in about 30 minutes. We had 8ftx8ft desks inside the engine where we could set our meal to eat quite comfortably! Thanks for sharing!

    +raymond foster I do the same thing when camping in my 4x4. Wrap meat (sausages etc) in foil and put it in a steel pan I made that rests on the exhaust manifold. 15-20 minutes of driving and its cooked.

    Great video. You're always so positive. I do canned or baked potatoes in my road pro. I line my loaf pans with tin foil, and reuse the pans. I pack a BBQ. I'll let my potatoes and veggies cook in my roadpro while I drive. I do have to invest in a butane stove for fried eggs for breakfast.

    This guy is doing it all wrong. Here's the right way: Buy a small piece of lean beef; some carrots, a potato; a bag of frozen mixed peppers. Season to taste. Herbs and spices..some olive oil. Wrap it all up tight in two or three layers of heavy duty aluminum foil. Raise the hood and wire the package to the hottest part of the engine block. Drive for four hours. Maybe six. Pull over at a rest stop and retrieve your lunch. Take it inside, pour a glass of cold chablis, and listen to a little Mozart or Chopin. Might I suggest a nice piano concerto. Aids in the digestion. Enjoy your lunch, have a second glass of wine, and then take a nap.

    Bruce Evert Good idea. Watching I was thinking alone almost the same lines yet semi different. I would have taken the steaks out and quickly added some of the veggies in one pile to the side, and then added the mashed potatoes for about 4 minutes with the flame off. It would have added another dimension to the whole meal.

    Hi Jerry, just found your channel. Looks good, sir! One thing though.. all those crusty bits stuck on the bottom of that pan are just *full* of delicious flavor.. If you keep that pan on, add your cool liquid, and stir a bit, it turns into a yummy pan sauce. Mix in a bit of cornstarch, or better yet, dry roux, and simmer a bit to thicken.. salt and pepper, and you've got a tasty pork gravy to add to those mashed potatoes :)

Bon Appe'tit, as Martha would say !!! ;^P

    I have a question for you BigRig....have you ever used heavy duty foil to wrap all your raw ingredients including the meat...like chicken and find a secure spot on the engine block to set it. It should cook well and allow you to continue driving for another forty five minutes. I dont know if this is possible to be done on the manifold or engine block of a big rig but I do know people that have done it in their cars

  • @Zro_Daye

    @Zro_Daye

    10 жыл бұрын

    There is no max on duty time. You can't drive when 14 hours from the start of your daily clock have elapsed, or after you have had a total of 70 hours driving/on duty in an 8 day period. So no, when I work a 20 hour day, I'm not driving illegally, I'm starting my day, heading to pickup, getting live loaded, then driving 8-11 hours to a customer, parking my truck there, and unloading the trailer by hand. After that's said and done, you're lucky if you can do much more than climb back in the truck and drool on the steering wheel, much less cook a nice healthy meal.

    80000lbsofliberty you didn't break it down in your first comment and even so u can only do 70 in 8 days so if you do 20 a day and u can only reset once a week well one would assume something doesn't add up but yes after some days you just don't want to be bothered with cooking but after a normal day of driving ie: 10 to 12 hrs only total the cooking isn't a big deal

    I don’t have a pic of it, but I use a piece of plywood that rests on the armrests of the seats and spans that 30” wide area. It makes a great table while you sit on the bunk and just slips in behind the seat any other time.. 30” by about 16”. Good video driver. I see so many guys eating mcDs and Wendy’s every night. Too expensive and who knows what’s really in it

    Maybe you could use some of that pan drippings/crusty bits with your peas/carrots broth to make a simple gravy for your mashed potatoes. Just add some of that veggie broth instead of water and stir to scrape up the pan and let it boil off some moisture to thicken it.

    So much has been learned recently about spray oils from a can. All not good for health. Better to use another way to grease a pan. Not sure how healthy Crisco is but anything in solid form can be spread into a pan using a baggie or a small torn piece of wax paper quickly. Maybe solid coconut oil, almond oil, or any other solid form of choice. Just not sprays.
