There's so many in Australia because B-doubles (B-trains) are restricted to 26 meters long but carry 34 pallets at 62.5 tonnes all up. Road trains are another story.

the thing i love about cabover's is it doesn't take a super long wheelbase to give it the effect of a long truck because there is already so much frame showing

They still make the K100s in Australia and they are a lot better than the older ones. The cabs are slightly different to break the wind better and the cabs are isolated, and with air suspension and a longer wheelbase and bigger sleeper than before they ride as good as a European cab-over, but you've got the bigger sleeper, and a bigger radiator. Check out Kenworth Australia's web site for a look. They make them for our 9 axle B-Trains which are limited to 26 meters and 62.5 tons or 140,000 lb

Yep, maybe there's not many cabovers left in the U.S. but "Down Under" about half the trucks are C.O.E. I own an '80s K.W. cabover and the secret of a smooth ride is a long wheelbase, air-glide rear, and most important.... 3 leaf tapered- leaf (parabolic) springs on the front.

I don't think it was a safety thing,or fuel economy, more likely lack of sales because so many have this notion that they aren't as safe as a conventional, and they have as good,or even better fuel economy than a conventional.I have driven Freightshakers, and KW,K100E Aerodyne is the King!!

nice trucks, but please learn to spell ! It's spelled WATCH...not whatch, and also the correct title of the song you used is, East BOUND and down. (not boun) Not trying to go schoolteacher on you, but this is part of the reason that the general public views us (drivers) as people of lower intelligence!
