I recently returned back to college to finish my Psychology degree, and Pun's unfortunate childhood is almost a textbook case. The abuse and degradation from his mother and step father is what created his inner torment. You cannot realistically expect your child to be a happy and functioning adult when you've raised them to think that they're nothing! His life should be used as an educational tool. #ripbigpun

That’s my life! I had a class A asshole stepfather just like Pun. To this day I still have problems man. My mother believes that I need to let go of shit. But some of that shit she let happen. Especially his ass kicking me out, and at times she was tired of arguing with the nigga so times she told me just go to my grandmothers. I honestly felt my grandmother was the one who literally gave af about me. Cause if my mother really cared and loved me? She wouldn’t let his ass put me down and degrade me growing up very bad. Even if they marriage ended cause of me? She wouldn’t wanna go through that. That just lets me know that her marriage life was more important.

True. That's why HipHop is from the streets. The voice of the oppressed. Many similarities to other emcees and kids from inner cities. Family dysfunction. Abuse. Poverty. That's why HipHop was given to us as a tool. A way for us to succeed, share stories and persevere. Unfortunately money doesn't mean healing. So many emcees still need healing from their painful childhoods.

@@91Definite It is your problem now. I mean that in the only way it's true, you have to do for yourself what she failed to do. Not only protect yourself now, but heal so you can protect your future. Parents are supposed to give kids the mental and emotional tools to survive and thrive. A good enough parent will give you enough but you have to gain more. A bad parent will give you more problems than tools. Find healthy coping mechanisms, learn the root causes of compulsions, etc. You can do that hard work for yourself. Let her be arrested in her denial. It's like suspended rot, emotional mummification. Sorry to you and all the kids getting any abuse. P.S. people can't give you what they don't have. Get your healing and don't wait on someone that hurt you to heal you.

We eat from our mothers, we were birthed from our mothers flesh. Being devoid of that will be way more unhealthy than a missing father. Literally without the physical nutrients (whether natural or artificial in form of formula) from a mother you will not survive. You cannot say they are "fickle" when you came from a woman yourself.

Pun was a complex person, just like many of us. He was one of the best rappers to ever do it, but he abused his wife. He was a loving father, but couldn't stop binge eating. He loved everyone in his circle, but had serious temper issues. I can see where his harsh upbringing lead to him to becomes who he was. It's tragic and sad. But without his tragic life, he wouldn't have become the Big Pun we know. I just wish he could have took care of himself physically, went to therapy, maybe things would have turned out better for him and everyone in his circumference.

A year after he blew up! It felt like knew all his songs before the rest of the world did. Many years later I saw his show at the Roxy in Houston, TX. He had to perform leaning on a stool and cane because he was very overweight and his breathing was labored. But when he spit lyrics, he was a fire breathing dragon!! Straight street gutter shit! He started the show with Twinz and I lost my damn mind!!!! Thank you for the memories, Pun. You’ll always be #1!

In the end his wife kept it real. I feel her 💯%. There's no doubt she loves him . At the same time s person can only take so much. She has a right to her true feelings. I've seen even his kids say they used to be glad when poppy was gone. He hurt them that much.

My kids father and I got together when he was 15 and I was 16 we lived together at that age his mom and dad where alcoholics and he started using crack before I even met him it took me almost a year to figure it out but he was vary abusive his dad beat his mom all the time I have 2 kids by him when I tried to leave he would take them from me to make me stay. I was 19 I finally left him and took the kids with me but he would always come around trying to get me back by using my kids. Later on he got shot in the head at his mom's house and died. I was sad but also relieved its fickle up but I knew I wouldn't have to worry about him taking my kids from me we grow up together almost like foster brother and sister I loved him and still do but it's like the love of a family member so i understand where big puns wife is coming from

Professr 93 The comments on this thread, are so sad and telling. I am so sorry to all of you who had seriously damaged parents. They are people, just humans that reproduce. Children need both a mother and father. Yes, children survive their dads, and even without their moms. Your comment speaks a juvenile mindset. Maybe you are a teen, which would be normal, or maybe just speaks or thinks like one. Either way, I hope you as well as all can find peace and healing one day. No parents are perfect, but some people don't grow up with people drinking of doing drugs around them, to spot a functioning crack head at 15. You may not have either, given why you think it is so easy. I was never exposed to alcohol or drugs growing up, other than tv and the crack heads on the street. Later working in social services, I saw who they were at home. Your teachers, co workers, bus drivers, grad students looking like they had it together from the outside. A 15 year old never exposed to that is supposed to know. Everyone is ignorant or ”dumb af” on certain topics.. The level of dysfunction approved of and encouraged by ”the community” in this doc and subsequently, these comments shows there is no hope. Especially for Blac pethis division between the men and women has been programmed into the young generation, and to see people fall into it is sad. The World cannot survive with just men or just women. I always wondered what some people listen to when they ” make love”, because there is no love in most modern music. It is obvious that people DONT make love, they make kids who were not made in love. They were never showed any love, they grow up bitter and unloved. Only to perpetuate the cycle, until the world is filled with demon seed polluting the world, as displayed in this video and a majority of the commenters. Some say it's just music, but vibrations, sound waves, and their frequency have great control of everything in the world. Read about sound and this may make more sense to you one day. There is a reason Einstein, a genius in Physics, and Coltrane a genius on Jazz music, had so much in common.
