Thanks! Yeah I was expecting more of a difference. To be honest, I WANTED the black one to sound better/different but I just don’t think that’s the case. Not with this Black Muff anyway

Omg dude, yeah, they sound the same. And what was the green one, like $99? I have that EH green Russian and I guess it’s perfectly fine. No need to spend $$$ on a vintage one when nobody would be able to tell the difference anyway. Thanks Theo! 🙌🏼❤️🤝

I'm really curious how much the variation in component values changed the sound of the older ones, and if there were genuinely stand out examples or if they were all inaudible differences

I personally found that when directly comparing the older ones I could often tell the difference when the controls were set in the same places and indeed there were some I liked more than others BUT I wouldn’t say that it would be as drastic as a “good” one or a “bad” one and some of my experiences could just be the fact that you could get the same sound out of each but the knobs would be set differently to each other

Swings and roundabouts! EHX need to inprove the bypass tone to come to the modern age. That super muff you did recently looked the business.

Aren’t the modern ones true bypass now? The old ones certainly weren’t! I’ve done the full diode lift too now on a different Muff, so all the diodes have been removed! Personally though I think I prefer the “Supa” mod on its own. It seems to keep what I like about the NYC but just extending the lows. That Supa mod absolutely killed it at rehearsal (in a trio), I didn’t want to turn it off.
