Big Love: The Roaring Silence
Фильм және анимация
This special edition from the video archive is a 1973 BBC documentary titled The Roaring Silence. The BBC visited Nepal in February 1973 to film a documentary about Buddhism, which produced outstanding footage of this early era. The documentary includes a visit to Kopan Monastery not long after it was established and, while there, interviews with several early Western students including Anila Ann McNeil, Marie Obst (Yeshe Khadro), Harry Luke, Nick Ribush and David (whose last name is forgotten in the mists of time). The video includes footage of Swayambhunath and Boudhanath in Kathmandu, a long trek to Tengboche and concludes with the arrival there of Trulshik Rinpoche by helicopter!

Thanks to the Beeb, for the foresight to produce this in '73. To LYWA retrieving it from the archive and to all early Kopanists for just being there like David Lostinthe mists of time. Finally to seeing Trulshik Rinpoche for making appearance. Had only read of him previously. Wasnt clear who narrator was either David or Peter but for the era excellent.
Wonderful! Thank you for bringing this to light! 💙✌🏼🌤
