Big Island Jungle Fowl | Cal in the Field

Спорт

Ryan Callaghan hunts The Big Island for turkey and peacock with Danny Bolton. Danny hosts Cal on his family's farm which is home to a portion of Hawaii’s plentiful Rio Grand turkey population. Wet weather slows down the midday turkey game, so Cal decides to pursue another recently added game bird to the island - peacocks. Soon after Cal jump-shoots and takes his first peacock, Danny bags a turkey roaming in the coffee beans. Their plumage may be drastically different, but to find a contrast in flavor between these two fowl, a side by side taste test of smoked breast meat from each bird is on the menu. Just saw yesterday folks hunting armored catfish in rivers in Texas. Apparently, only the biggest ones have enough meat to be worth dressing so it may not be up their alley, but it is the rare invasive species that is a legitimate nuisance from an economic and infrastructure point of view so maybe they’d be up for it from that angle.

we had a local game farm/zoo near Central WI when i was growing up. they had Peacocks on the grounds and would get out and wander frequently. sometimes youd see the male peacock with the group of turkeys in the spring. I saw a Tom display his fan to the ladies then right after the Male peacock, said basically "oh yeah.... watch this" and then displayed his fan. It was quite funny to see. Was a totally unnatural thing to see in Wisconsin.

Id eat a peafowl! Man expensive though! Like couple hundred a bird. And we did try to hatch them. Only had 2 ever hatch and both died in a week. Humidity has to be perfect in the incubator I believe. Not sure exactly but a guess. Not as easy as chickens guineas turkeys quail or any other thing we tried in incubator. lol Also I thought you were going to hunt jungle fowl. As in the origins of modern chickens. Great show! Meat Eater is already in the Late Adam Sandler phase of its career progression. Where all the locations for new media are set with the intention of vacationing with their friends and having the company pay for it. While it must be very nice for the employees and company, for the average hunter, these constant private land and guided hunts are not entertaining, or why I found Meat Eater enjoyable in the first place. I'm happy for Steve and the boys but it's just falling short lately.
