Музыка

BHTM is trekking outside the lines with our Monsters Music Monthly series. A conventional album cycle is fine, but how about a new free song and video from your favorite band every month just to spice things up?!
We hope you enjoy our September 2021 release, 'Cheap Sunglasses,' a tribute to the legendary Dusty Hill and ZZ Top. One of the coolest blues rock bands of all time.

    Todd has that guitar sound dialed in! Just the right amount of compression to bring it in and the perfect reverb and echo to give it some breath! Great sound. I wonder if this was pedal driven or on the head. Sounds so natural I don't think it was done post or on the board. To me it sounds like he mic'd the cab and maybe cleaned it up a little in post. Great Job!!!

    To the guitar heads out there like me, yes Todd is playing the riff "wrong" compared to how Billy plays it, but it's not wrong, it's different. The notes are the same, the feel is the same, there is just the original way it's played and the way he plays it. Music and covers shouldn't always be about playing it exactly, but about interpretations. Some of the best songs started off as other riffs learned "wrong" and then became something else and unique to itself!

  • @msmoniz

    @msmoniz

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@quantumbuddhist Yup. Billy drops the high E down to D to play the triads in 1st position and then hybrid picks the F-G with the open D, Bb-C with the open G. That's the "right" way according to how Billy wrote it, but different interpretations, like you said give you different timbres and can sound cool too. I remember reading interviews with Nuno Bemnttencourt where he kinds laments the internet a bit because it's so easy now to learn riffs/songs the "right"way as opposed to how he and many in his generation learned sitting in front of turntables or cassette decks, training their ear, and more often than not learning it "wrong". But that learning it "wrong" though getting the notes right, setting them off into developing their own style that they might not have developed if they learned the song note for not perfect. It's an interesting argument/point to consider that I can somewhat agree with.
