Big Green Egg Beer Can Chicken

Beer Can Chicken on the Big Green Egg. I love smoked chicken and I love to make a sauce as its cooking. In this video the sauce cooks in the can. Take a look at what we do to make our special Chesapeake BayBQ.

Just a tip from me...after I rub whatever, chicken, pork, etc, I spray it with the canola nonstick spray. It not only locks in the rub, but it REALLY helps build bark! Try it.

Nice cook, thanks for sharing. Ever consider putting the dry rub under the skin? I've struggled with getting the skin crispy too, will definitely give your increased final temp a go, almost like a reverse sear on a steak.

My only smoked chicken recipe now. Instead of Habaneros, I use a small pablano cause I like the flavor and not the heat.

I really love the music, but you should probably keep it at a volume where I can hear what you're saying instead of vibing to the song the whole time

Everybody uses the beer/soda can wrong! First, get a can opener and open the top. This will release more steam and flavor into the chicken. Next never use cold beer. I would heat it up along with all the other increase like butter and garlic. Then put the chicken on top, then onto the grill. Warm beer will heat up faster and infuse more flavor into the chicken!

Put some water in the drip tray, that will keep things from drying out, easier than opening to spray it.

Tried the recipe. Fail. Followed directions. Got the temps right, times right. Chicken never reached 168*. Holes from probe gushed juices. Several in fact testing temp. Meat was red, skin was chewy, and meat was sort of tough. This was my second attempt. Strike two. No more. Gotta quit taking everyone's word on how easy things are.
