Serious inquiry as you guys seem to have quite a collection of these old beasts, around this time next year, I hope to be puchasing a decent sized plot of land (20-40 acres) and would love to aquire a functional older cat as both a resto' project and workhorse. Nothing that large, maybe an old D4 with a "pony motor"? About how much would you be looking at pricewise, both for initial purchase as well as typical maintainance/upkeep on something like that?

@DeathHead1358
6 жыл бұрын
The whole premise of the high track design was to keep the drive sprocket out of all the dirt, sand, rocks, and such, thus reducing wear. Granted, as you said, the design cut down on the surface area of the drive sprocket in contact with the track itself. I believe that I read somewhere not to long ago that Cat was considering going back to the low track design in a few years.

I'm From Alberta, Canada. We want $45000 CAD for it. Genuine Cat undercarriage is $60000 here and it measures out to be only 4% worn. We rebuilt the torque and transmission within the last 100 hours and put $12000 in it. We actually rebuilt a D9H transmission for it which is better. It is a long ways to bring it but the exchange on the money would make it at least $10000 less in U.S. Dollars. This machine has had an easy life as it's only ever pulled a scraper for us and only ever pushed motor scrapers or pulled a scraper in its previous life. And we've never worked it on frozen ground.

Made to do the work of 90 men....awesome
Very nice video 💫👏👍
Serious inquiry as you guys seem to have quite a collection of these old beasts, around this time next year, I hope to be puchasing a decent sized plot of land (20-40 acres) and would love to aquire a functional older cat as both a resto' project and workhorse. Nothing that large, maybe an old D4 with a "pony motor"? About how much would you be looking at pricewise, both for initial purchase as well as typical maintainance/upkeep on something like that?
Love Cats best dozers
Roll more dirt out of the brush. Bring it around and when you get close to the pile tilt the blade all the way over so the only dirt that's left is a little bit in the corner.
thats a big dozer what year is it?.
wow good job bro
that's how u get things done
Good cat
WORKING???? She is barley above idle and even with no remaining grousers she ain't breaking a sweat.
@twal1011 The old highway belongs to the land owner who we do dirt moving or tree pushing jobs for.
Barely working that monster.
Looks environmentally sound

My old D7E is the same way.
Is it common to sell the trees or just burn? Have land I am looking to clear.
@oilerman9406 they do rev slow! some of those big old diesels will never pass 1200 or so rpm.
Liked the movie
Power!!
not much fun in an open cab when you come across a beehive though, dust sucks too, big nose nuggets.
Big D9G? How come nobody ever videos a small or normal size D9G?
That thing is a hoss the largest dozer I've run was a D8K
How do I contact you about using a portion of your video in a nonprofit video?
Qual o peso dessa máquina?
Love the old de4sign. The chain is wrapped 3/4 away on the drive sprocket. On the new dozers, only 1/4. Lame Cat, very lame.

Jack Nicholls they didn’t work that hard back in the day just pushing some brush and a little dirt. Plus doesn’t seem the guy operating knows how to clear that well anyways. We have a D11 and that bitch is monster

McGee TV I’d say this guy can get more work out of a D9 that a lot of operators can do with a D11. Don’t judge by the amount of throttle he’s got open.

Nonickname I couldn't agree more with you. Running them wide open and hard is hard on them. Let them work at their own pace, and they'll last a long time!
Lindo D9 Caterpillar 😇👍
Did you not watch the whole video dude?
POWER
that looks jus like kill dozer
@fishingcanada1 , Haven't seen that movie in about twenty years, horrible story line, great old iron footage. Say,hows the salmon run this year ?
👌
Needs some new shoes. But very nice machine
whats the serial number?
Would you like to buy a good D9G like this? I have one with a rebuilt transmission and new Cat undercarriage. Selling because we don't have work for D-9s anymore. Otherwise, we'd never sell it.

Probably original to this old beast. I wonder if this starts like my old D8 with an possible gas pony motor.
