The guitars were made to sound like bagpipes. It was their signature sound. Stuart was from Dunfermline, Scotland. I'd recommend Fields Of Fire and Chance 👌

You have to hear their song Alone. The singer, Stuart Adamson committed suicide over depression and listening to that song you can hear the pain he was in. So powerful and sad. Amazing song, probably their best.

Such an iconic song. From the drums to the bag pipes.

Hi sweetheart. Thank you so much for doing this video. I grew up listening to Big Country. The band is originally from Scotland and unfortunately the lead singer took his own life. I don’t know when but he did struggle with depression which I thought was such a waste of a brilliant talent. A fantastic band if you were an 80s kid. LOL. You are one of the very few that I have seen reacting to this band. Thank you for doing what you do because you do it so well. Please take care of yourself and blessings to you from the UK.

If your from Scotland or of Scottish blood lines you know this song and the views of the highlands in there official live music video are outstanding and AC/DC used the pipes in a lot of their songs

This video was shot in Dorset not Scotland, plus their guitars give the sound of bagpipes. No actual bagpipes are used

@@jockmason5922 I know exactly where that was shot because I have been taken to that place because I live in Dorset. It doesn’t really look like that anymore. There are more buildings now but still open pieces of land.

Enjoyed your reaction. This band hails from a town called Dunfermline in Scotland. Great band and even better live, was lucky enough to see them play many times. Take care and all the best.

Nice reaction video. Big Country was popular in the eighties and are a great band. "Fields of Fire" is another great song you should check out. Stuart Adamson was the lead singer and guitarist and wrote most of their lyrics. He unfortunately is no longer with us. He struggled with Alcohol throughout his life and died when he was only 43. The band formed in Scotland in 1981.

Yes, they are Scottish. but they do not have any bagpipes. What they do have is guitars that are strung and amplified to sound like bagpipes. This is the only band I know that has tweaked their guitars to sound like bagpipes.

One of my favorite things about 80s new wave was how catchy the choruses often were. An era of constant ear-worms. If you haven't yet, you should check out Duran Duran. Start with the album Rio, and the song Hungry Like the Wolf. I loved that album when I was a little kid in the 80s (and still do). Also, Tears for Fears' album Songs From the Big Chair. Maybe start with Shout from that album.

My idols, my hometown heroes and my friends BIG COUNTRY! Yes they are Scottish but NO it definitely is NOT bagpipes you are hearing, not at all. I knew singer, guitarist and songwriter Stuart Adamson well for almost 20 years. What you are actually hearing here is inspired by the tones of Scottish folk music which is actually played on fiddle and accordion, definitely NOT BAGPIPES! They are a military instrument here in Scotland essentially a weapon of war and Stuart was absolutely the most anti war human being who ever lived so that description (ur far from the first don't worry lol) truly upset him and the band. They have almost 20 years worth of incredible music behind them, I would recommend Chance or Look Away or Peace In Our Time or East of Eden or Where The Rose Is Sown, the last of those highlighting Stuart's feelings on war and the military perfectly. Thank you so much from here in their hometown Dunfermline for choosing to highlight my great friend's incredible music, so happy you enjoyed it. ❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤
