I was 10 years old at the time and was able to compare this to their earlier song "S.O.S" and to my ears "Dancing Queen" did not fare that well, ponderous barbie - doll echo piano piece. I also heard the whole album "Arrival" and several songs on it struck better.

ABBA is together with The Beatles and Queen the most versitale group in music history. This song was releasted in 1976. ABBA is goat of pop I would say, has sold around 500 M albums. I don’t think any women has sold more albums than Agneta and Frida as leadsingers, so yes. 🎉 Second most popular song they have got? Well, It’s so many - maybe Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, The Winner Takes It All or Fernando I would say but Chiquitita, Take A Chance On Me, Knowing Me Knowing You, Mamma Mia or SOS are in the same level I think. Atleast 50 more bangers… My personal favorite is the romantic R&B-sounding The Name Of The Game. By the Way - check them in LIVE aswell, excellent, no autotune those days. The auburn haired girl is named Anni-Frid aka Frida or Annie and she married the pianist whose name is Benny. ABBA is the first initials of their first names. They were huge and I mean HUGE back in the 70s and 80s. They've sold over 400 million records. Only the Beatles have sold more. And did I mention they didn't speak much English? I'm not into disco music but Dancing Queen is one of the ABBA songs that I enjoy. I thought your reaction was fabulous, especially considering you didn't grow up with this music.
