The camera man/director Lasse Hallström had free hands. It was all his ideas. In another video, he put them two and two in a large flower pot and had his assistant rotate it while he filmed. Sometimes they filmed in his own appartment in Stockholm. Happy new year and One of us, for instance.

I love the old music better, the instruments sounds better. People say you can’t tell the difference with synthetic, but when you’re in the car with the volume up you can.

Youngfool Yes, when the song 'carried' the video. In 1975, half of household televisions in Britain were still black-and-white. Indeed, I imagine, most people in Latin America, if they had a TV, would have also had a black-and-white TV. Although colour broadcasting was introduced in Britain in 1970, the high cost of colour TVs meant for many having to watch Abba's win at Eurovision '74 in glorious black-and-white. So the opportunity to watch this video in mere colour, in early '76, when it hit no. 1, was a pleasure in itself, no matter how rudimentary the video is. I'm not joking! Money was tight for a lot of folk in the 1970s.

When my parents escaped Romania during communism we ended up in Austria and ABBA quickly became our favorite band. Still my favorite band to this day. My mom just passed away and this song is just so emotional for me. Her name was Mia :)

Benny was the only ABBA member who believed Mamma Mia would be the most successful song from the group's third studio album, ABBA (1975), since Björn, Frida and Agnetha put all their faith in I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, which they thought was a much better composition. Even though both of the songs had a great impact over everyone who listened to them at the time they were released, it is clear that Benny's prediction proved to be utterly correct, as Mamma Mia became not only one of ABBA's greatest hits after Dancing Queen, but also the song that put Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody out of the number one on the UK's charts in 1975.

Well, I don't know if MM put BR out of the Number one spot, more likely that virtually everyone had bought a copy of BR by early 76. BR was on chart for 17 weeks 9 of them at no. 1. Mind you I prefer ABBA to Queen any day, that white jumpsuit swung it for me, Even with Queen in their Glam gear they still looked like a band of seventeenth century cut throats. The Abba girls looked like mountain springs and green forests. I bet when you arrive in Heaven Agnetha will be singing.
