Rest in peace Stuart Adamson.
Absolutely great band and great choice. Thank you for playing one of the most underrated bands out there!
Their songs always had meaning, and the music was always spot on.
It's 40 years old, and this song still brings a tear to my eye. 💙

Same here, always
Lost Patrol, my favourite song ever!
The Crossing is an album you can easily listen to in it's entirety.. every song is very good in a smooth, flowing way. It's kind of like a feeling of hang gliding over the Scottish terrain and fields of green. I also like "Lost Patrol", "1,000 Stars", and "Porrohman"..

That album is flawless.......
Played this album so much when was young. This is an album that excellent from start to finish. Some great songs from their other releases are : "all go together" " We're not in Kansas" "Broken heart" "you dreamer" " Good reaction, thank you
Big country were so good ... While the singles were excellent the album tracks, especially on the earlier albums were amazing.. less commercial but so intricate and varied. Also excellent live!
They were a Scottish band so its a very Celtic sound. In some of there songs the two guitars played together are reminiscent of bagpipes. Great channel by the way. Big love from the UK.
One of my fave songs from a extremely slept on group, love Big Country and Chance if my fave song of theirs. The Crossing is an AMAZING album, one of the best of it's time IMO.
What a track to react to , I still have this album, the green one ❤
You need to listen to 'Where The Rose Is Sown' by the same band. Phenomenal drumming and bass line on that track.
Big country pride of Scotland 😘
So glad you're getting into Big Country - such a talented group. I recommend "Porrohman" or "The Crossing" for songs that really show off their rich musicality (especially if you appreciate the peace and warmth of Chance).
Check the drumming from the Barrowlands concert.
This is the song where they got known a big hit in the UK in the 80's.

No it’s not, fields of fire was first song
It’s authentic to who they are and that is something that will resonate with you if that is what you are looking for ,their music is honest and has a joy in it that connects you to the simple important things in life .
Brzezicki's china crashes are luxurious...
My 3rd vid tonight, and 3rd comment too lol. This is the song i will go into the fire to, i decided that 40 years ago and nothing will change rhat now. In part that's the final check that I'm definitely dead in that box, if the chorus kicks in and I ain't singing then i am defo deid lol 😂 This is the song that all us BC fans adore the most, live, WE sing this song, all of it lol I don't think Stuart sang all of this after 1983 😂 I can see it happening now you are fall8ng under Stuart's magical spell lol ONE OF US, ONE OF US ❤
Ditch the headphones, Turn on the stereo with bass,, listen as loud as tolerable, you will be more blown away, Stuart is one of the best writers, guitar, and singing masters of all time. Listen to Ships, and Pink Marshmellow Moon,, i especially like the Buffalo Skinners album. Live was sooo great, i was front row 1994 on shrooms, best mind bending music of all time.

oh I love this comment so much, another one that has a great love for their music. The world of music lost so much with the loss of Stuart. He was one of a kind, miss him so much.
This whole album is great. Hard to pick a favorite song on it. Check out “Harvest Home” & “Fields of Fire”. I hate that most of their live videos on KZread are of poor production quality.
It's mimicking the sound of bagpipes but with guitars.

I cant remember where I read it but Stuart explains how he came up with it and how he did it, maybe it was the way he tuned his guitar but nah, I'm pretty sure that wasn't it. Yeah, big help I are. If I ever find that interview again Ill share the link.
There's another, even better version with a different intro and a proper outro 🙂 Very cool that you're liking this 40-year-old stuff! 😉👍
If you can find the song The Crossing, it will take you on a complete journey.
Check out “The Storm” it’s one of Big Country’s best, I saw them live this year and they opened with it.

Who was the singer, I am going to Ireland in September, and Big Country is doing a 40th Anniversary tour, playing 40 concerts mainly in UK and Ireland. I miss Stuart, damm alcohol is evil.

@@MC-yb5le I can’t remember his name but he was good and the band were on top form, Mark Brzezicki was on drums and Bruce Watson was on guitar, it might be Tommie Paxton on vocals he plays with Restless Natives
My favourite is Fields of Fire (400Miles)
oh man, I cant believe you did this one. I'm crying my eyes out. I loved these guys from the very beginning and though its a heart breaker this is my favorite song. It still tears at my heart so badly and still break down crying for the loss of Stuart Adamson and always will. And yes, they have their own style on the guitar, I don't remember how Stuart did it but he managed to find a way to have the guitar sound similar to bag pipes. I remember reading about it years ago. ///An even better version of this song and one you should enjoy is the live version in Glasglow.
