Big City Traffic requires Big City Infrastructure in Cities Skylines 2
Ойындар
As Riverview has grown massively in the past handful of episodes, its 1960s infrastructure is starting to fall behind, and traffic during rush hour is growing out of control. So, what better way to attempt alleviating by implementing many more lanes, bro! Big highway expansion is on the menu as we build an entirely new highway segment to better feed traffic into the downtown core as well as the southern suburbs. Hope you enjoy!

You might consider upgrading your road maintenance, because when roads aren't maintained, you experience more traffic accidents. Your city has a high number of accidents. Perhaps a series on upgrading all city services would be interesting to watch. I love the look of the older bridge next to the new bridge. I've noticed in my area that sometimes the older infrastructure will be left long after the new stuff is built, sometimes even with the old infrastructure being abandoned/unused.

Hey Infrastructurist! Awesome build as always, I just mentioned a few unnecessary left turns. First in the intersection at 53:48, the traffic coming from the airport doesn't need a left turn since they can turn left in the intersection before, second, when you upgraded the road coming from a new bridge, the left turn reset. Thanks for keeping the series alive, my favorite so far!

building the wonky left turn a little further up closer to the bridge would really help traffic since the queueing distance would be longer, piccana made a video of a similiar intersection to this one and how they work!

Bridge collapse and this time from a plane rather than a ship
Virtual pilot here,..that bridge is in my glide path.
Riverview my beloved 🥰
"we're gonna add a lane here because... because why not" that's the most realistic American city planning
This city is so realistic that the traffic is gridlocked 24/7 after the DOT invested billions to ‘improve’ the roads
That second interchange have to go. It is like looking at the sun for too long, it really hurts.
So chaotic ! :D Nice infrastructures ! (absolutely HELLISH !) I can't ignore the fact that the airport have some connections problems. ^^' Also another just between in the highway you remade. (Chestnut, after Thornton and Green on the way to the new hellish interchange) And the pedestrian path of the park going far to close to the highway too !
ok so the state will build multiple billion dollar overpasses but decided to cheap out with a weird at grade intersection
I think you should keep the old bridge next to the new one. It wouldnt make sense for the city to spend even more money demolishing it for no reason. This is the case generally for old infrastructure, it just gets left abandoned until it gets in the way of new development - just like the old railway sidings near the recently redeveloped 'Yard'. Great video as per usual!!
"Malfunction Junction" is the local name for the I-4//I-275 interchange where I live. Definitely an evolved mess of planning!
"Improved Traffic Simulation, my Ass" got me with that one
57:39 I would think it could possible be used as a BRT line to connect the growing suburban sprawl to the downtown
You could consider doing an episode expanding the number of lanes on all of the highways in the city. A medium-big city in America often has eight through lanes (four each way, not counting the acceleration/deceleration lanes) on its main highways.
I can watch asphalt getting placed all day in these games. Sweet vid!
These videos are so satisfying, beautiful city! You should consider the Move It mod, would really help with infrastructure (moving pillars, lowering road segments, adjusting buildings) :)
Interesting fact: "Take your child to work day" was banned in Riverview after this project was completed. Apparently, after designing the I-25 interchange, the city planner allowed his 7 year old son design the intersection near the city.
That second interchange feels like a war crime.🤣
Love the comment 48:10 😆 "Improved Traffic Simulation"
Continue your great job! I ❤ your videos, Riverwiev is the best I've ever seen. I think you should keep doing some more episodes of Riverwiev.😊
I love old historical roads that were replaced by modern highways. I always look at them in gmaps
So creative ! I love those interchanges !!

new to the series and immediately felt it looked familiar. good job on the recreation of Colorado springs.
Officials building an efficient, safe, reliable public transportation: The City is broke 😢 Officials building a new highway through your neighborhood: Hahaha, lanes to brrrrrrr 🤗
“A bit dangerous maybe but not too bad” now you’re a *real* American traffic engineer
Infrastructurist is now an Italian urban planner... out here making spaghetti. Haha.
Love the episode, keep it up ❤
I reckon this is your best video you’ve ever made…. Needs more lanes.. 😂. Seriously though, love it.
I hope the city and the state realize their mistake with that second interchange and fix it. Whatever traffic planner designed that is too unhinged to be allowed to work again.

Also can't go straight onto Heather from that main road on the left side of the screen.
Watching Infrastructurist create infrastructure projects is always such a joy. Even if he goes down the rabbit hole to create an absolute monstrosity of an intersection 😅
Very nice!
17:30 *Has moveIt to lower the whole highway down* "Naaaah, ill just rebuild it all over..."
maybe in the future you should try building an NFL-sized stadium/arena and surrounding park or even an Olympic Park too :)
Here’s a few suggestions for the new highway’s name: You could try Interstate (Any odd Number)25 Riverview Parkway South or City Centre Parkway You could also make an extension to the airport in the future.
Love the build. You might find the road tools are more agreeable if you try using only the snapping you need at a given time. I like to use existing geometry for the first part of the road, right angle and road guidelines while finding my curves, and turn everything off when I’m clicking to complete the road.
It's so funny, I've just watched a video about an interchange detanglement project in Antwerp (Belgium). And now I see you creating insanly intertwined, big plate of spaghetti like, interchanges.. 😅
love the spaghetti road structure, hope you can detail it a bit more!
Riverview needs a golf course
My heart hurts! This is perfectly beautiful awfulness😅 good job😂
I drive thru the original spaghetti junction every day... you got some real real mad pasta going on here lol
Thank you for your videos! How do you remove trees with the tree controller?
I would keep the original infrastructure, both for the history, but also providing more options to get around. And it looks pretty cool too 👍
Mr. Mayor, it is usually such a pleasure but that second interchange is maddening to look at. May I suggest building a _single point urban interchange_ instead.

33:07 kamakaze curve in Binghamton lol
I'd make emerson street and elm highway ONE-WAY, Elm going to the Highway, and Emerson receiving cars from the highway... it would help that node, and you wouldn't need the lights or the crossings
There used to be an interchange in Denver nicknamed "the mousetrap" that eventually had to be completely changed due to the high rate of accidents. Perhaps you could name that new interchange something similar, and maybe in the future you could streamline it as the city grows even larger.
That was…something
Can't wait for the moment you add a metro system, and also universities
That.. uhh.. bit of a mess at 40:00 could be helped a lot with a British style combination roundabout for the links/elevated highway for the majority traffic going into the city. I don't know how common they are in America, but that's what my brain goes to here!

Hey man. Sorry i haven't been watching your videos so much lately. It's not that i don't like them. I just don't have enough time to do so. I still think that you're one of the best players of this game and that all your creations are the best in the best XD
Riverview finally has its very own spaghetti junction ❤❤❤
bro you GOTTAA TEAR THAT OUT 😭😭
About keeping the bridge: I thought you would use it as one direction of the highway... It would make a lot of sense financially, as the city would only have to build a smaller bridge instead of the big new one
Have you seen the roundabouts, they're a more efficient and visually appealing option than adding more lanes
Infrastructurist! If you come from the new highway towards the city, or from the road from Downtown, a bit like alongside the railway, and try to go towards the airport at the weird-kind-of-a-wanna-be-roundabout, that won't be possible, because there is no roads or lanes! I'd really appreciate, if you fixed that! But anyway, again great video!! (maybe you'll continue the European city -series in the next video...?)
32:51 I’m Dutch bro we don’t have shit interchanges lol
My fingernails are now thoroughly bitten down thanks to that intersection
I live in Colorado Springs and I always use this map as my Denver/Colorado Rockies map. I try to snake an interstate and train “West” through the valley and make a tunnel outside connect to act as my I-70/Eisenhower Tunnel
I wish Denver had that sort of urban planning. Lord Help Colorado Springs...
I think the old bridge would be an amazing pedestrian only bridge if you convert it into a pedestrian and cyclist only bridge, similar to the purple people bridge in cincinnati ohio, that would be so cool, and it will give a chance for more park development
at 52:15 the left turn is still needed for cars that wish to access heather highway
@sal-the-man

Sometimes you gotta do things for “efficiency”. So some intersections have issues like these, that’s why it’s sorta realistically a horrible intersection.
diverging diamond could be interesting if you ever consider it :)
Omg soon you’ll have as many people in riverview as subscribers!
I enjoy your videos a lot and this city is really nice, Now would be the best time to build a Small town far from the city….
In my city its Malfunction Junction. 2 interstates meeting, one beginning and direct connections to Downtown. The traffic ques are ridiculous.
Riverview!
Infrastructure is not only roads. I think that such a big city should have reliable and green energy. It would be nice to see a nuclear power plant cooled by one of the mountain lakes.
I love spaghetti junctions!
"...chaos is chaotic..." - Infrastructurist, April 2024 🤣
The horrors of industrialized highway infrastructure
helsingør motorvejen rundt om københavn er sindssygt dårligt lavet. pure chaos
Why is there a need for both "Elm Highway" and "Emerson street" bridges? I think removing one of them would allow for a better traffic flow with just a slight detour added
Will Riverview get mass transit at some point in the future? I know it's an american city but many americans city have at least a sluggish attempt at metros/subways 😅
Keeping the original infrastructure isn't a bad idea, as it appears to be used now for local traffic.
Could've been a real intersection in Brussels or Antwerp by the looks of it xD
Me and my 3 months old driving licence aren't going anywhere near this thing
I think the famous Magic roundabout would have worked best.
Every city has a "Malfunction Junction".
when is metro system coming :9
i would like to see a small and humble fishing town in the southern part of the river, near the edge of the map
Aww Naww. Emerson and Elm should NOT be meeting there. WHAT IS HAPPENING? The intersection only tourists and visitors go through. “It’s fun to clean up the mess” but you’re not cleaning it up 😂
Looks like every single road junction in Eastern Europe
this is so painful. the real world may be random but is not that stupid
I don’t understand why CS builders don’t use traffic lights. It’s less realistic not having traffic lights. Especially with main road connections.
That bridge looks too tall considering it’s right at the end of the runway. Wouldn’t a tunnel be more suitable?
