I don’t have the budget you all have but in my mind I believe I can drive and enjoy a couple hundred miles a day. You have inspired me and as soon as I find the right van I will be on my way.

If the CP4 wasn't replaced that was a mistake. I put a DCR in mine a couple weeks ago. It's not a matter of if the CP4 equipped fuel system will destroy itself it's a matter of when.

Reflective insulation needs air-gap to give any insulation. Underbed would be better served with 1 inch isocyanurnate foam with taped edges. Would provide a real R-6-7.

You did a fabulous job putting that insulation in. I bet that will be very helpful for both winter and summer. love the name and I also love that you’re keeping the Facebook group the same name because I believe in the same things you do when it comes to getting outdoors and enjoying nature. Great choices!!! ❤️ Update: I was finishing watching the video. My three year old granddaughter and five year old grandson heard it and said, “Is that Cody and Kellie? Did they get their truck fixed? A-We had a in tank fuel pump go out on a Chevy suburban, My Dad had an injector pump go out on two Dodge trucks, I may as well have completely rebuilt a ford 6.0, I currently work for a major over the road truck manufacturer, every one of them have/will/can have a breakdown at some point. It's just nature of owning something with a lot of electrical & mechanical parts. B-SAFTEY!!!! NEVER EVER stand or sit under a suspended load. I know truck campers have four lift legs. NEVER assume they will always hold. Assume they will fail and work accordingly and cautiously. Use strong sawhorse supports or the like. Did not much like Kellie being in truck bed when backing into camper. C-Dealership BAD!!!!!! Only if last resort D-Seems like I remember seeing some type of large blowup ring one can install between top of cab & bottom of camper to eliminate draft. E-Always enjoy every video no matter what name you have to use. Things change all the time. Safe travels

It will be very strange to visit the Cody and Kellie channel instead of visiting Dome Life. I love the Dome Life name, but do understand your approach. It makes a ton of sense. Now, … the insulation. I am shocked that the manufacturer put NOTHING up there! I also have the same condensation and cold issues on the curved nose wall of my travel trailer, so you can bet I’ll be investigating how I can open it up and improve insulation on that wall. Its adjacent to my bed and freezing in colder temps, while even the bathroom with a plastic dome skylight is warmer. Hmmm. Thanks for sharing how you took care of that task. Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!

If it was me, I would have added a vapor barrier of plastic or that roll insulation or something in between the insulation and the exterior of your camper. I would suspect that you will end up with some mold growth starting between those two areas. The new insulation will help allot but the moisture will develop. Just a thought I had. I hope that helps. Granted it would be bear to take it back out and add a moisture barrier, but it beats breathing in the mold spores right at your face all night. Enjoy your time on the road. If you guys are still having condensation issues, you may want to try heating with something other than propane. A small diesel heater will do wonders. They sip fuel, use very little electricity, and provide a very dry heat. Propane has a lot of water in it, and that goes into the air when it's burned. That contributes to your condensation issues. I use two 5Kw diesel heaters in my fifth wheel and they work great. You guys wouldn't want any more than a 2Kw diesel heater. Even on low, you'll be cracking a window to cool off.

Google CP4 fuel pump issues. All three major truck manufacturers have lawsuits pending because they used a pump known to have issues with the low sulfur diesel fuel in the US. Ford has used these pumps for years. GM and Ram have finally moved away from the CP4 because of so many failures. A lot of times none of them would warranty the repair even if the truck was still under warranty because their stance on it was that the low sulfur fuel was the cause of the pump failing. Hence the lawsuits. It is around a $12,000 repair. Some go out with high miles, some go out with not even 10,000 miles.

I was told the max the Palomino can handle is 38-35 but honestly ours can’t handle 40s well… for black out we have a reflective material that covers all the windows and the fan above the bed. Normally don’t comment but I am a mechanic and familiar with the 6.7 fords. The 6.7 has CP4 pump that will fail and contaminate the fuel system and ruin the injectors. You need to Install a CP4 disaster prevention kit on your truck if you plan on keeping it. This will prevent a 8k bill when it fails. S&S diesel sells it for around 400$. It will be the best money spent if or when CP4 pump fails. Do your research online about the cp4 failure and you will understand. Thanks I love your channel we have Artic Fox with slide on F350 and love it.

Figure out where the draw is and fix the problem. I had a friend who would disconnect his battery every night for months, we put a meter between the cable and the battery and one by one removed fuses until the draw stopped, turned out to be an electric seat that was constantly trying to move backwards (although it was all the way back) the button/switch on the side of the seat was stuck and an easy fix. Sometimes the fix is easier than the steps taken to avoid the fix.

Good thing you trusted your gut and didnt go to the first dealer. These Dealers will really rip you off big time. good for you folks. I had a fuel pump problem once in a chevy truck and it was in the fuel tank. I tried to fix it . I failed.

I did not see if you did this, but when you put the insulation in the front window wall, make sure it is not stuffed. Insulation is designed to not be compacted, it is the fluffed air area in the insulation that lets it work to get the designed R value. People think you could install 6" insulation in a 2x4 wall and it will be better and it will not be. Good job getting the truck back and I too don't trust any dealership.

Do a cp3 conversion if you can’t afford it use Hot shots lubricious extreem or Amzol in your fuel . Fuel doesn’t lubricate the pump with newer EPA formulas. CP 4 pumps are more prone to failure because of that. Also install a Exenergy fuel metering valve, it has a finer micron screen that will catch shavings and plug up before they contaminate your system. They have disaster kits for Fords . Research for more info. By the way 70-80 MPH with a big camper like that is crazy 🤪

Cody you should Always use a lubricant additive like Hot Shot LX4 , or another brand to aid in the lack of Lubricity in the USA Diesel. This is needed for the CP4 Pumps and CP4.2. They will last longer.

I never go to the dealer for anything with exception to a factory recall. At home, I have a young guy that went to local community college who has his own 6 bay garage he built and has 3 people employed and not only fixes it the first time every time but is the most affordable this day and age. Local cafes and locals will give you good advice to local garages that won't gouge you when traveling. I am so glad you guys got a second opinion from a small business owner and was able to support a small business owner.

Wow. I'm so glad it all worked out so well for you. Getting a second opinion was a wise idea. You would think a dealership would be the place to go for reliable work. But you just proved that isn't always true. Yeah, we have the differing opinions, too, not only in our families, but in our own marriage, lol, I drive a ford f150 and my husband drives a 3/4 ton heavy duty Dodge. Mine pulls the camper and his is the farm truck, so there is method behind our maddness. I've done some added insulation in our camper with reflectix in the window at the head of the bed and storage doors, and foam board in the pass-through storage under the bed. It made a difference. I can't believe they didn't do better insulation in the nose-cap of your camper. You should be ready now for anything Mother Nature throws your way 😊. Happy Camping!

We are your neighbors, just north of Longview and about an hour away from Texarkana. We've been watching you regularly (and subscribed) from way back in the Dome Life days when you were still working and had a traditional home. Your travels have brought a lot of pleasure to this old couple (91 and 88). Our "rving" has all been in fifth-wheels since my retirement about 25 years ago. In fact we have several trips planned (Florida, here in Texas, and probably in Colorado later in the Summer) Thank you for sharing your life journey with us.

Most campers- truck campers, travel trailers, rvs, etc, what's under the mattress is plain plywood and it will mold. First thing we do in our camper is treat the plywood under the mattress area with mold resistant/water proof stain or kilz. Otherwise you could be sleeping on mold before long

also.. on your legs, put a mark on 3 sides for minimum removal height, then you can easily tell that you are high enough to load or unload your camper.

They make a filter you can add to the truck that will prevent the metal in fuel situation. If metal gets in line it catches it and saves the fuel getting full of debris

I put that liner under my bed on the deck in my tow behind. What difference. For the window, I bought a sun visor and cut it down. Actually, I bought two and have a cover for all the windows. They're stiff enough to pop into the frames.

If you’ve never looked into it, the Froley sleep system is pretty great. It’s like a bunch of little plastic springs under your mattress. Seems to help a ton with moisture issues. Someone had installed it in the camper I have currently and it is definitely a game changer. I imagine since it adds an air gap, it adds an extra layer of insulation as well. Just spent four months on the road and never had any moisture buildup under the mattress.

For moisture under bed.... the Froli system (see NuCamp Tab 400) is s'posed to be awesome. It is also a spring system for comfort with red inserts to add for firmer feel. However, the insulation would prolly have to go under a platform that would hold the Froli system. Food for thought if you still have condensation underneath.

I have been using truck mounted campers since 1978. All were on Chevrolets. I did not have problems with any of the trucks. As I replaced campers with new models the quality of the campers got worse. The one I have now is the Cirrus 620 all weather. Yes it is small but I am now camping alone so it is just right for me. When on long extended trips I pull a cargo trailer with more than I should carry in it. But it works for me.

We have a 2023 HS 2901. The first thing we did was remove the window to insulate the front wall. What a difference in keeping the heat out! We also installed a Froli system under the bed for ventilation. Along a Laguna table, a step to get up into the bed - that also holds shoes, etc. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
