That's why he is called Ares! I think it means god of war or death.

it doesn't matter whether it's a small house cat, or a large lion, you give a cat a box, they will play with it.

+GerardRockMyWorld Not all cats play with boxes. My house cat hates boxes. Don't know why. We've had her since a kitten and she's never liked going in to them or being in them.

GerardRockMyWorld All of my pets are from the shelter. We got her when she was a couple months old. My mom adopted her from Petsmart that adopts out cats from our local Humane Society. She's about 13 1/2 years old now. None of my dogs liked boxes either, a black lab mix we had since she was about 10 weeks old who lived to 13 1/2, and currently a Cursinu (a brindle colored lab sized hunting dog) that we've had since she was 11 months old and is now 4+ years old. All my animals are afraid and unsure of boxes, even when we put treats and toys in them, and even play with the boxes ourselves. They just don't like them and especially don't like being in them.

I love how most of the other cats are like “ok, I’ll explore it, maybe chew on it a little” and Orion and Ares are immediately like “D E S T R O Y”

Living in a house with three cats, I can only tell you ONE difference from this video and my life with cats, it's that my cats aren't strong enough to tear boxes apart.

I think it's interesting that the smaller the "big cats" are, the more likely they seem to be to treat boxes as places to curl up in, like housecats do. Do the larger species just not have that same need to be in a tight space, I wonder?

Small wild cats have the instinct to want to curl up in something to hide since they are never at the top of the food chain. Bigger species are apex predators and do not have to worry about being hunted.

the bigger ones also wouldn't be able to fit in as easily so would more likely just chew it up or play with it as that's all that's left to do

N Brasher it’s more about the size of the box ... these cats would’ve gotten in and reacted similarly had their body weight & strength not altered things and had the boxes been more size appropriate where they just fit and can scale the side without it tipping over, theyd have behaved more like the domesticated cats.

Big Cat Rescue actually they still have to worry .. especially when they’re outnumbered, have cubs or are up against even bigger cats.

Big cats are a delightful mix of terrifying and adorable :D

LOL. I just love cats a lot: big or small. I was looking for my cat for 2 hours straight and i was pretty terrified to see her lost and then i found her sleeping inside my school bag.

It's like Ares is playing "She loves me, she loves me not..." 😁

Thank you for sharing. My husband and I just got a box delivered and my cat refused to share it with our other 3 cats. My husband said "I wonder if big wild cats would act the same" if given a box. Having seen videos before like this I said of course. He thoroughly enjoyed watching these, as did I. Thank you for taking such great care of these huge fur babies! On to hunting videos about if big cats love catnip!

The Bobcats checking out the studio "apartment" seemed to be undecided about it. They could possibly squeeze in a small kitchenette but the lack of a roof was troubling. Pharaoh solved that problem, just flip the room over and instant roof. The first thought Ares had was MUNCHIES while confused Orion came to get some goodies too but couldn't find anything other than cardboard to chomp. Jade clearly wants her box to be mobile so she'd like some wheels for her trailer home. Cameron took one look at Zabu's interest and thought "Oh no! More redecorating! Time to find a bush and hide." From what I've seen so far in BCR videos the Tigers are the sanctuary's top demolition experts. They roll in and flatten boxes in record time.

I like all spesies of cats... Small and big... They are so cute. I always like how they see anything from their eyes... Eyes talk everything....

I'm just in awe at how enormous and beautiful these creatures are. Even when they're acting like big dumb idiots.

Ares rips it up,.....then Orion gives that look that says "Hey, dude, I was gonna sit in that." But no matter what, big cat or small, give it a box and they turn into a kitten. You can hear the big cats saying "My toy!!!!"

I notice how the smaller cats like to sit in the boxes and rub against them, while the larger cats like to tear them to shreds! Great choice of music, by the way!

Ares Cougar = my housecat Jake with box behavior. I call it 'making puzzle pieces' and 'stapling' with his teeth into the box. :) It's hard to pick a favorite, but I love the cougars. Especially Mickey

I wonder if there is a Toyota/Lexus place nearby that donates their boxes to the cats. Good on them and will remember next time I'm shopping for a car lol

When I worked for a pump retailer, we used to get shipments from a supplier in huge boxes, about two yards square by a yard high, 3/4 inch corrugated cardboard. I wish I knew where you might find one or two of those for your tigers!

A tiger named Zabu - someone must be a Marvel's Ka-Zar fan.

Cats tend to think 'Within the box', virtually all of them........at least until they decide to chew the box up. Then, they'll need another one, of course !

So, I'd hit writers block for a fantasy story I was writing. This oddly snapped me out of it. Thanks Big Cat Rescue.

It's funny how the big cats like to relax in boxes that they destroy.

My friend has a cat named Ares, he is orange. He doesn't understand food and you pretty much have to put a treat into his mouth while it is open for him to yell for a treat before he understands this is the treat he asked for. He won't hesitate to eat plastic, yarn, human food, cardboard, paper, the dog's food and once in a while things like soap. Pure orange cat intelligence, right there! We say "Ares only knows what food is when he's wrong" about him. He has a little brother who is not even 6 months old yet, and the kitten is already smarter than he is!

No box was harmed during this footage...

All 🐱s love boxes

maybe next summer ill visit BCR and hopefully seeing zabu and cameron's baby ligers if they will have

+Linda T Just like domestic cats, big cats are very curious! When you put something new into their enclosure, they like to see what it is. Then the playful big cat interact with it.

This is a good advert for Toyota/Lexus

At 1:44 she's like "I TOLD you I don't like boxes! Now have this."

The smaller species like getting inside them and sitting, whereas the bigger ones just chew them to bits lol

The cougars don't play. They tore up the kiddy pool and now they tear up the boxes!

As much as i don't like FL i def want to go to Big Cat Rescue one day to see this place in person wish all Zoo's would be done away with as they are just prisons and have more wonderful sanctuaries like this one to allow animals to live with freedom and love they deserve.
