Delta as Suzanne was always my favorite! Her speech at the reunion was incredible. Unfortunately no one stays the same. The way BOTH handled things is inspiring. 🏆. Delta is still beautiful on the outside and more importantly in her heart ❤. Much like Elizabeth Taylor. I always thought Delta would be perfect to play Elizabeth in a film!

I love that they incorporated a story about Delta Burke's weight gain. Delta was one of the funniest women on TV and I actually thought her weight gain was a believable aspect of the character - an aging beauty queen. Harry and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason and Dixie Carter really were terrible to Delta at the time. They made such a big deal about Delta's weight and really should have gotten off her back about it. That was what caused all the tension on the set and why Delta was canned. The show was not as funny after Delta (and Jean Smart) left.

That's really not what happened. There are lots of articles and interviews talking about the situation from different people's perspectives. We'll never know exactly what happened, but it's clear that her weight wasn't the issue

They did so very well in himanizeling suzeannes weigh issues and the bias she faced daily. While they were doing it to the actress daily in peril of her job. Ugh. Sorry but I love this show anyway t he writing was great. It's just what I think of when they address the issue here.
