I have dealt firsthand with a family member who suffered from dementia. Three things worth knowing--the patient's cognitive state can shift 180 degrees from morning to afternoon or from one day to the next. Also, it is degenerative. It can never get better, only worse. Last, the patient did not choose to suffer.

Last year I was on vacation in Albania and I met two American ladies, we were talking normally when I accidentally said "Biden is sick and he should not be president of the USA" They called me fascist and Trumper. It was not possible to argue my sentence, they started to be offensive and rude like real fascists...

Well duh,most of us knew this was already going on, where was the rest of you!!
