See his repeated difficulty in coming up with the right words and saying them properly as an example; he slurs out some nonsense and just confidently goes on as if he had said the right word. See also, among his many lies, some nonsensical things that he seemed to believe when he said it such as his repeated claim that Nikki Haley was in charge of security on January 6th, and that he is running against Obama. Biden doesn't show clinical signs of dementia. He is showing typical signs of slowing down cognitively with age. There's a difference between cognitive slowing down and actual dementia. You can find psychiatrists having these discussions if you search for them. There was a huge disparity between how Trump's declined is being covered and how Biden's decline is being covered. Trump's problems are widely being ignored.

They are just reporting this story as it unfolds. None of the given excuses are reassuring. Whether Biden was over-prepared, jet-lagged, or had a cold (or some combination of the three), a president needs to be dynamic enough to handle these things on his feet. Biden is simply too old and frankly, he should step aside. Even the Trump campaign (and Donald himself) want Biden to be the Democratic nominee. That should tell you something.

@@Boo-bastic I think that's debatable, but in any case the rumor is that he's going to announcing he's dropping out this weekend. I would be surprised if he steps down as president. I assume he will remain in office until January. I assume there are already lots of bureaucrats running things anyway. Maybe if Kamala becomes the nominee she can start to take a more active role, in what is essentially a pre-transition transition. Maybe she can just absorb Biden's team as a starting point, and incorporate her own team if she ends up winning.

He was losing his voice during the debate. I could tell he wasn't well. I thought laryngitis? A cold ? I was worried. I have watched him talking and giving speeches so often and he's been great. The morning after the poor debate he gave an energetic speech that was very good while in North Carolina. He is a good, humble man. He cares enough that he will take advice from his trusted advisors about his continuing to run for a second term.

He immediately got back on AF1 and HE wanted to return to the White House but was not allowed to do so ( his advisors aboard the plane) for his safety. The plane later landed in another state that had been prepared prior for hiding presidents. That’s a fact. His slow response as you call it was for his as well as national security

The president has to be capable of travel, having a cold and potentially being called into the war room at 3am to make critical national defense decisions. I don't see it as an issue of new explanation; there is a combination of reasons; the travel factor could easily lead to other issues.

If I get pulled over and the officer tells me thar I was swerving all over the road, I'm gonna try this defense. "Well officer, I'm just really tired. I actually fell asleep there for a few seconds. But don't judge me by this driving performance; I have driven very well in the last three and a half years..."

Complaining about his travel schedule??? He was at Camp David for EIGHT DAYS leading up to the debate. What travel schedule? Did he already forget?

Biden is not making the decisions. Look at jill. She is the one controlling and supporting “his” decisions. Weather for power or unfulfilled “favors” that are already paid for the biden family cant let joe step down. At the minimum he has to wait till after hunter tax charges to parden him. Otherwise hunter will turn on daddy for a deal. Good news for joe… there is alot of video, fbi reports as evidence that joe can’t stand trial. The rest of the family…… not so lucky.

As a Democrat leaning voter, I am disgusted by CNN'S reporting and rhetoric on Biden's recent debate performance and call for him to drop out. It was obvious in this KZread clip that CNN is supporting that narrative when the title of the video is supposed to be Joe Biden defending debate performance, but they start out with all the negative aspects first.

Oh yes… because falling asleep on the debate stage is so much better than potentially having dementia….
