How 14 Years Of Conservative Government Broke Britain

The ballots were counted in the UK, and the results show that a landslide for Labour took place, with Keir Starmer now Prime Minister.
It's the first time in 14 years that Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party won't be in power… so how did they go from running the country to a record defeat?

Here is EXACTLY what's going to happen: 1) The Tories were voted out in a landslide. 2) In about three or four years, everyone will become impatient that Labour has not fixed everything it took the Tories half a generation to destroy. 3) The Tories will be voted back in because "at least they get stuff done". 4) Rinse. 5) Repeat.

I grew up in the UK, emigrated in 2013. It's been awful watching from Australia, as the place I called home has torn itself apart and become a shadow of the country I remember. So many people suffering. I cried with joy...well...releif...a little bit when I saw the result. It's still a deeply fractured nation, but with the Tories gone, there's hope. Glad to see Britain hasn't followed the rest of Europe to the right too, not that there aren't valid concerns being brought up by the right, but more for the fact that I'm sick of populist politicians/politics. Let's all remember that the Tories are the direct analogue of the Liberals/Nationals here. If they ever had 14 years, Australia would look just as sickly. Things Can Only Get Better... 🌹

I swear some people act like abuse victims in denial, you had 14 years of tories making UK unliveable, yet in some people's eye tories cants do anything wrong, rich are richer poor are poorer, cost of living, inflation, interest all time high yet where was the scrutiny in the last 14 years compared to Labour being in for a literal day and holding them accountable before the new PM has even unpacked, have people been living in a cave for the last 14 years, if a party can't do something in 14 years yet you expect the labour party to fix what essentially is a burning house in 14 hours, it's a joke that some people in our country are happy with Conservative party and those people should objectively look at the state of the country like me and many others who are seeing their lives become worse no one should be happy with the conservatives, how you still have individuals propagate a party that only had their own interests in mind, those people who voted for them for years are as much to blame for our countries state of affair s then the party.

As an American I have always had an interest in British politics. I always felt sad for May who I felt was put in an impossible position by Cameron but I never cared for the PMs which followed. I have high hopes for Starmer as PM. Now if only my country can get it right this November and keep that fat cheeto out of power then 2024 will be a good year politically for both of us.

It was an unqualified disaster and it’s estimated the economy is 4% smaller than it otherwise would have been if we had stayed in the EU. Massive amounts of extra paperwork in terms of imports and exports with the EU as far as I know and all the actually professional migrants left back for the EU. To answer your question on the overall view of the population, if I remember correctly it’s somewhere around 60-70% of people who regret Brexit according to polls.
