Dude you hit the nail on the head. People (including me) really struggle to separate the group think vs what I actually believe. Been working on just liking what i like and just to let it be without letting reviews or opinions get me down.

That "walking on eggshells" idea you described for reviewers is so accurate. Forced to have milquetoast views for too wide of an audience. I watch these people to rip on why something is bad, and admonish what makes something good! Being opinionated and critical is what creates growth.

The problem is because art is subjective nothing can ever be good or bad, so if you ever admonishe or rip into anything you are acting like a biased idiot and need to be reprimanded.

A solid and fun video which lays out your perspective for future works, a move I find highly respectable and which I fully agree with on forming a relationship with a reviewer or the such you respect and and enjoy, as you get to know the things they like, look for, avoid, blindspots, ect. and can see the ways in which they come together to form these larger opinion pieces. Keep up the good work, and have a nice day.

Something overlooked that I find really charming is when these game critics/reviewers have their very human moments of, "This game is bad, and I can't help but love it." It always demonstrates that there's some kind of enjoyment under the surface, that they've gone the extra mile with experiencing the game, or that sometimes it's necessary for emotion to take over actual critical thought.

Oh absolutely. And there's no shame in saying that. Take something like Dragon Ball the Breakers. Obviously a messy, unbalanced budget title, but I also constantly tell people that I find it incredibly fun

I'm so torn on Final Fantasy as a whole. It was an absolutely massive part of my young life, up until my 20's. After 12 i didn't care for what they'd done with 13, zero interest in online so no 11 and definitely no 14, 15 the less said the better. 6 was magnificent, adore it, absolutely LOVE it. 7 was, well, it was 7. Growing up with it as a young teenager was pretty great, watching it grow into this massive world you could run around in 3D? Stellar. I had all the play arts figures, statues of Cloud from KH, art I'd imported from JP, you get the idea. But for the life of me i just can't get into that 7 remake. I mean it's free, it's sitting there asking me to play it, but there's zero inclination for me to play it and i can't quite tell you why? I think the memories I'd made with 7, Crisis Core, Dirge, watching Advent Children are better left as memories. Maybe one day I'll try that 7 remake, lord knows it's getting in my face with that second part of it out, but something is just not there for me.

Only one I personally grew up with was 1 and 7. Lately I've been going through all of them in order, but I have played 15 and 7 remake and the combat doesn't jive with me much. It's fun, but now for as long as they expect you to play.

Pretty spot on. Having and sharing an opinion on something here on the internet is hard, especially when it comes to reviews. The moment you mention not liking a certain thing about a game/tv show etc, watch people try go off about how you just don't get it or lack the reading comprehension skills to understand that. It sucks but thats just the internet for ya. Also love the video, great stuff and looking forward to more of your videos!

I agree. Like, I understand being dissapointed someone doesn't like what you like, but at the same time just because one person engages with something doesn't mean someone else will.

Well you can’t go to a review for objectivity not for something like a game or movie novel where the experince is subjective. Hell hardware these days are giving such individual experiences I don’t trust objective reviews even when they are just hard figure stat blocks. Being a reviewer of anything these days is like walking around with a kick me in the nuts sign on your back. You are a brave group of people! We salute you!

Hope this vid gets more views. Great writing and jokes! I think FF1-3 were strengthened by the pixel remaster while the base versions of FF4-6 could remain at their base versions (minus the lack of the ATB bar in FF4 haha). There’s something about their pixel art that is timeless

I adore the pixel remasters. I think in terms of remaking a game 3 is best but I mean, 6 is still my favorite just on the quality of what it already was.

@@ColeTheFactGuy yeah the opera house in 6 is definitely elevated. I totally forgot that you can beat 4 in like…less than 20 hours if you wanted to. The DS remake makes it seem a lot longer! Or maybe that’s just because I was in high school when I played it 😅 I’m excited to get back into both 5 and 6 so I can capture the footage

I disagree with this video only because I'm a contrarian who doesn't realize that opinion videos are just that. Actually, I totally agree. There are some people out there who hate just because it's the thing to do and it'll get them clicks, but I much rather prefer those who actually tell you what they think. Because that's why we're here. There's thousands of videos of people giving their thoughts on ______ game. Your fans are here for you and your perspective. So give it to them.

I really like FF1 its simple and just something easy to digest as a Final Fantasy game. Of course there are better. I like FF1 characters, they bring this mysterious vibe to them, makes me wonder on who they are and what they do, especially for the Warrior of Light, he is my favorite character in the series. ^^ But nicely done on this video, I didn't know that FF1 was going to be a topic of this vid, glad that it was recommended to me and for that I Sub to you man and keep up the good work ^-^

I just feel its hard to trust reviews after cyberpunk and metal gear 5.we get these basic games and one was broken while metal gear wasnt even finished and turned into a open world boredom game, but then they are called masterpieces and 10/10.so i understand why people leave comments the way they do when we can clearly see these games have issues.yes its thier opinion but they are selling that opinion to millions.so when millions buy cyberpunk on release when reviewers say, ignore the issues when u cant, can't, gaming is in a really bad place and its our fault for buying

I mean I think it's also just bigger companies with multiple reviewers have to be more careful with what they say as they get things like early copies, previews, etc. For me I prefer individual reviewers with their own very distinct voice. Yes, I might disagree sometimes, but I want to hear what they have to say more than anything. I mean, for example, I love MGS5 a lot, but I also get why it's disliked by many. As for the modern industry, yeah. But I don't even really blame the people buying. I blame the corporate heads who push microtransactions and broken launches more than the people who bought into it just trying to enjoy their hobby
