Biarritz France | The Playground of Royalty

Biarritz is an elegant city in the French Basque Country in southwestern France. It’s a city with plenty of natural beauty, cool boutiques with local brands, and a vibrant dining scene serving amazing French and Basque specialties. It rose in popularity in the 1800s when it became a destination for European royalty. It is located about 30 miles from the Spanish border, and it was our second stop in our Basque country tour.

Trying to decide between visiting Biarritz or San Sebastian this summer with my young child, husband and Sister. I heard Biarritz is a little “worn”. We love shopping, the beach and a relaxed vibe. What do you recommend- Biarritz or San Sebastian?

So here is what we experienced: Biarritz has more beach options, more posh, celebrity sighting (not that it matters) shopping is mostly boutique and pricey but a very special place to visit. Food is amazing! Mostly French tourists and we speak French so certain things can be easier to navigate for us than for someone who doesn’t. It gets cold at times even in summer. It’s laid back. San Sebastian is an amazing place. There are a few beaches and some are only accessible at low tide. The food is amazing, shopping is great, and people are amazing! It’s loud in the pintxo crawl area and very busy in the summer so take that into consideration. As far as which location we want to visit again, it’s definitely San Sebastian! But they are both special for different reasons! I hope this helps!

I want to go to Biarrtiz this summer but everywhere i Look it says it is paid parking like 20Eur per day or 6€ per 2hours max.... i mean this is driving me crazy. I wonder how people do when they travel to Biarritz! They walk 20min to the beach each day or what? where do they park their cars to explore?»

Our hotel had parking included. Look into that. If you stay in a hotel with parking, they allow you to drive in the limited traffic area. Once we got there, we did everything by walking, it’s a very walkable place.

@@TreknEats I was looking at an Airbnb in Anglet 5min drive away from the beach. Just because this one had a private parking spot. Thing is i'm planning on going for surf sessions everyday if the waves are decent. Can't walk with all my stuff 20min everytime. I guess I'll have to look for another option maybe or maybe i'm just overcomplicating a bit to much lol

@@hbr6545 I think it’s best to stay by the beach if you are surfing! Waves around there are amazing! Enjoy!

How do you afford to travel so often? Do you work remotely?

We traveled a bit while working remotely but we generally make a point to travel every two or three months. We are bargain hunters so we try to find deals. We will make a video on how to travel without breaking the bank.
